Why do people insist on realistic looking pokemon? I know it's an opinion but resolution/graphics =/= artsyle.
If they wanted to make them realistic they could have done that on the 3DS too but that's not how art direction works, they have a set identity for how Pokemon games look, and I personally hated how pokken looked.

Agreed. The cel shaded type of art style matches how the games have always depicted the Pokemon. They're cartoons. There's no reason to go realistic as they've never been realistic. (sans manga, but that's a whole different thing) In the games they've always been cartoon-y so why would that change now? Cel shading fits Pokemon more than realism does.

The 3DS games lacked style. Cel shaded graphics might change that, but I don't expect anything as impressive as Ni no Kuni.

Agreed on that.
I'm probably more excited about the game's looking than region or plot. But for some reason I can't stop thinking it will just be Sun and Moon in a polished HD...

About The Pokémon Company International | Pokemon.com

So TPCi is looking for more translators for localization into Western languages. It's not conclusive, but that only increases the likelihood that the game is nearing completion since Western localization is one of the last things done.

EDIT: Ninja'd

The thing that makes me wonder about those openings is that according to our Chinese sources (well Lavandulas anyway) the Chinese team is basically done with localization. So that makes me wonder how important these openings really are. If the Chinese team is about done already then I can't imagine a few extra people being added to the other teams will make much of a difference. I see these openings more as them just looking for a few extra hands and eyes to help finish up the project. Most of those positions are freelance so they're not for keeps. TPCI has their own full time staff to work on stuff and they'd likely get the assets as soon as they were ready. So how important can a few extra people be? That said the Chinese team being done already is very telling. They're the new team so it wouldn't surprise me if they got the stuff first so they have more time to work, but it does possibly indicate that the rest of the teams already have the script more or less done as well. Or at least well on its way. According to the listing the translators aren't just being hired for the game itself, but also manuals and guides. I wouldn't be surprised if they're just looking for some people to lend an extra hand here and there and help them with the guide books and other peripheral stuff.

Is there a reason why Chinese localization should start much earlier? It's supposedly finished.

I mean maybe they'd get it earlier because they're the new team? Not saying they have to start earlier, but it would make at least some sense. That said all the teams could be just about done, but all we're hearing about is the Chinese team. Just a thought I had is all.

Recent pokemon games Already make use of Cell-shading in their models. If the next one uses it too, it'll be just a superior looking version of it (which I approve of, it's probably the best choice to move pokemon in modern looks while keeping the cartoony feel) like how Mario Sunshine looks better than Mario 64 (in fact some silly things I read would be like saying gen 5 should use sprites because gen 4 lacked style and sprites would solve it, except gen 4 also had sprites Lol)

i would like to know if the leakers of pokesirena and or the japanese leakers believe that the games could be released in the second half of 2019 or it is safe to say that the games will arrive at the worst scenario in May-June 2019?

It would probably mostly be for promotional purposes and the blurb on the box and such. If I recall, Odyssey didn't even really have a manual, and instead had a menu screen dedicated to controls. I think even Sun and Moon directly told you how things worked once you got them.

So lets say them hiring a few extra people for translations for western versions of the game is indicative of anything. If they're currently having their localization teams translating the scripts and names that kind of means the game has a pretty decent chance at hitting this year. Localization and translation is one of the last things that get done. Them needing some more people on board could mean they're well on their way to finishing the script translations worldwide and once that gets done all that's left is the debugging stage which likely happens concurrently with the localization stage. It's really hard to say. I think that we'll get the game by the end of February. A few months differential wouldn't really change our pre-release period by much. It would be vastly different if the game was coming out late 2019. If that was the case I feel like none of the script would have been translated yet as they'd still be working on it at this point. I definitely see the release period being some where between December and February at this point. March being the very latest.

How long does it take translation teams to work on the games? Not that hiring a few extra guys means they haven't already started, but it's interesting.

Hmm... notice how the Chinese translating isn't listed. If I recall, it was rumored that the Chinese translating had been completed, so that would explain why it's not on that list.

You guys said this Pixel guy leaked a game a week before it was announced? This is the second time I've seen posts of his pop up in this thread. I wonder if the sudden surge of activity means it's becoming more possible that we'll be hearing about a Pokemon Direct sometime soon.

I'm just kinda excited about the idea of cel shaded style of the game, and just went looking at other games that have that style. Imagine a pokemon game looking like this.

heck something like yokai watch style would work too. imo YW always looked better then pokemon on 3ds.

That's what I was was just thinking. They are an Insider so they probably see trailers a few days before the public

Well of course, we have to wait for Zeraora's official reveal first. That's the only thing stopping Gen 8's announcement. The next few days/lead up to corocoro is going to be interesting.
