I hope that Pixelpar was just asking an innocent question and not indicating that the game will be a Kanto Remake. I mean, he might have some inside knowledge of certain stuff on Pokémon for the Switch due to him leaking those tidbits of information on February 5th about the Switch game, but I'm hoping that he doesn't know a lot. Reading through his past tweets throughout the year so far and seeing previous polls he conducted on Twitter, it seems to me like it was more of a innocent question. It also seems to me like he gathers knowledge and other leaks from around the web and shares them to his Twitter. I'm really hoping that he's just an informant that gets his insider information from someone else and that he's not an insider.

I don't know...All these Lugia and Ho-oh stuff last years...I can see remakes or a Mega Evolution-like feature being both possible. Hoping for second one.

This isn't remakes. They wouldn't focus on Ho-oH and lugia before announcing the games if they were remakes. They compleatly ignored kyogre and groudon until the ORAS was announced.

Yeah. I don't think that either Kanto or Johto remakes are happening.

So if the next game is in Southeast Asia, and Yungoos is the regional rodent, would that make Yungoos a Generation 8 Pokemon or a Generation 7 one... After all why code in Yungoos if it’s native from another region... What if Zeraora is the same. Native to Generation 8, visiting Generation 7 Which is why they coded it in. It would also keep people playing the 3DS games more, imagine this: They reveal Zeraora for the Switch game and everyone thinks “oh that’s cool” and then they are like surprise!, You can also get it in US/UM (People who already know about it wouldn’t be surprised though).

I don't think that's gonna happen. I think that Zeraora would be a Gen 7 Pokemon. Nothing special.

Let's clear things...A pokemon belongs to the generation it is introduced in even if it appears in other generations or belongs to another region (take A-Exeggutor, it is said that the Alola form is its true/original form but the pokemon itself will always be a gen 1 pokemon). For example, Gligar is Gen 2 and its evolution is gen 4 even if both are in Gen 6 as well.
With Zeraora there's still discussion because it has not been revealed yet and we know that the upcoming generation is near. It's highly improbable but GF, who wanted it to be a gen 7 pokemon, could have decided to keep it for Gen 8. A lot of Gen 2 pokemon are coded in red/blue but were not released until gold/silver.
Again, not happening, but since things like M-Latios/Latias or Zygarde signature moves coded in x/y and released in OrAs and S/M exist then people like to debate on Zeraora too.

Regarding this Lugia thing, I think we're digging into it too much.
I will probably be wrong but I don't really expect it to be something related to new games — maybe it will be its relation with Zeraora (if he's on the film) or simply a future Lugia Corocoro distribution, similar to the Ho-oh one a while back.

I think every time they introduce a Pokemon that "comes from a different region" They'll never show us said region. Corphish is technically also a Pokemon like that. They'll never introduce a region where the Pokemon originated from because that would create the same problem you're talking about. Yes I know the term "generation" started as a fan term, but it's clear that GF have also divided up their sets of Pokemon in the same fashion and accepted the term. If they suddenly start introducing regions where these Pokemon originated from that would cause problems. As such the regions will forever be phantom regions that we will never ever see and only hear about briefly.

Well, there are some differences this time:
1) Ho-oh was not shown in the teaser trailer for 20th movie. Lugia was highly hinted in the teaser trailer but it's an old pokemon, so why this suspance for a really old pokemon? Why showing its shadow and theme but not it?
2) Coro Coro just announced Ho-oh distribution. In this month coro coro seems to look at Lugia backstory and announced a future scoop for it and to keep an eye on it during this year.
3) Ho-oh was in the 20th movie because it was all a retelling of the first anime episode/serie, kinda logical. Lugia has its own movie and has nothing particular related to Ash in the serie, so why is it in this movie? Just as a remake of another movie? Then why all this mysteries?

Coro coro is known for being a good troller but things are not the same of last year, so let's wait and see...

Why do you people assume that Zeraora is Gen 8? It's a Gen 7 mon. Why else would it be in USUM's data?

Why was mega [email protected], thousand waves and arrows in XY data?

On a separate note. I highly doubt they are just referring to an upcoming Lugia distribution, especially as they already have 1 coming up in November already announced.

It's not a gen 8 pokemon. The rational speculation is that Zeraora may be the port to Gen 8 in the upcoming movie. Something like it's in Alola but has something to do with new region too.

I just seen the tweet myself, and I really think people need to stop getting the concept of "rework/revisit" mixed up with "remake".

Listen. Game Freak would obviously not start off a new Generation with a remake. A reboot or a rework of an older region? Maybe, we just don't know. Judging by the reactions in this thread alone, I'm surprised that the poll question he asked shows more favorability to it than against it. How many of you would honestly up and leave the franchise if this were to actually happen? Not this chick.

I'm thinking that these games will be set in a new region.

People who think the switch game will be kanto don't know how game freak works.
new hardware=new region with new pokemon.
they will NEVER start a new hardware with a remake so people need to stop thinking about it as a option, it's not.

That's what I'm saying. A new gen will better show off the Switch's capabilities and it will sell more copies.
