I am almost certain now that they are targeting December for a release. If not December then most definitely by the end of February 2019. With all the stuff we've seen with the anime rushing, the TCG sets having a very distinct timeline that seemingly ends normal SM/USUM promotions by the end of the year, and even the new Legendary events being given away only to leave December mysteriously empty. I just can't see it any other way.
I feel like November might still be a possibility for a release. Magearna was revealed in February and Sun/Moon was also revealed in February so it is a possibility. Also I don’t believe the legendary event will have any relation to Zeraora because Zeraora is a Mythical not a Legendary. It is odd though that December is left out.
I agree 2018 will be the release date unless it’s delayed but there is still the possibility (cause of that one Chinese leak and other things), that it is a Kanto “continuation” or reboot or whatever you want to call it.
And if that’s the case, it could still come out this year but Or/As wasn’t revealed until May. That’s only 7 months apart until release while X/Y and Sun/Moon where 10 months until release (from their announcement).
So in summary the last possible announcement for a 2018 game would be June 2017 maybe at E3. Which is a pretty long time
