Will there be remakes in Gen VIII?

I would like to see Gen IV remakes, but I hope they will be more bigger than the originals. I would also like to see the Battle Frontier return, and Cynthia's Garchomp being able to Mega Evolve!

new 3ds xl just like the two prior xl models are considered by nintendo to be not only the premium version of handheld console but largely a more niche market
As far as I know, Nintendo released only the N3DSXL in America, leaving out the regular size version. You don't leave only your 'niche' product in your biggest market.

I hope we get some new megas in Sinnoh remake because there is a slight chance we'll get some new megas since Cynthia's Garchomp can Mega Evolve and put Emerald and Platinum Battle Frontier together (since Battle Frontier in ORAS was awful, maybe we'll see it better in Sinnoh Remake) maybe a "Mega Frontier"

maybe they could let shamin have a Z-move that activates it form change?
-realy some new ones should have better new effects then power increase only.

different markets have different niches/market demographics for example the basic non xl new 3ds was a standard version in jp and most other regions while it in NA it was largely a bundle and/or limited edition console largely because they were having good sale of the 2ds and had huge backlog of unsold original 3ds and 3ds xl in the region especially in places like gamestop it was so bad that i managed to get one (red black 3ds xl) NEW at for 60 or 70 after they priced drop the new console to 130 to clwar stock with a 2ds trade in

however that being said the new 3ds xl was released in ALL markets just in differing amounts
you can find sales stats of all there console hardware ever released on this investor pdf HERE

I just hope they acknowledge Platinum, unlike the last remakes and their third game. I will be upset if they put in the DP Pokedex instead of the Platinum one.

I'd be at the verge of not buying the game at all if it didn't expand on the fire types. *looks at statement under avatar* I like Infernape (third best fire starter below Charizard and Typhlosion) and Rapidash is okay, but I really cannot live off 2 fire types. It is ironic that they made a E4 member fire type specialist in such a region.

This so much. Even if they're remaking Diamond and Pearl, it would be ridiculous to not use the Platinum dex. It wouldn't necessarily turn me off from buying the game, but it would be a major disappointment.

Similarly, I also hope they have other things in 'Platinum condition', such as not blocking off Wayward Cave with a Strength rock and receiving Eevee from Bebe upon getting to Hearthome for the first time.

There's really no point in using the DP Pokédex. I'm pretty certain that they won't.

The thing is that Hoenn's regional selection was decent, with a reasonable mix of everything. Now, it's a good question as to why they didn't use peoples' Emerald teams in ORAS - like, why on Earth isn't Wattson using his Manectric - but that has nothing to do with the regional selection because it was the same in both RS and Emerald. They just reshuffled the rosters, so it wasn't a choice between two versions of the Pokédex.

With DP remakes, it is a choice, and there is literally no benefit to using DP's paltry selection. Forget about being a good Regional Pokédex; it didn't even know how to be a good Sinnoh Pokédex, what with how many of the new Pokémon it excluded. If Game Freak had the awareness to work the Gen 4 retcon evolutions into ORAS's Hoenn Pokédex, then I can't fathom that they wouldn't do the same for DP remakes when DP are the games that introduced those Pokémon to begin with.

Honestly, I wish they would just remake Platinum and forget DP. But I know that won't happen.

Personally, I'm a bit torn on this one. I mean, in terms of area design and all, they should definitely go with Platinum. Again, it's not like it was with Hoenn where, say, the Safari Zone extension from Emerald was sort of made redundant by other things they decided to do in ORAS. With Sinnoh, it is frequently a choice of pure aesthetics. For instance, you can either have the boring, beta-esque Amity Square from DP or the nice-looking one from Platinum, and all it affects is how the game looks, so there is simply no sense in using the DP version.

In terms of the story, though, is where it gets interesting. Now, perhaps an unpopular opinion, but me personally, I hate both versions of the Sinnoh story (just as I hated both versions of the Hoenn story, for that matter), so I'm hoping to see a pretty substantial rewrite. But we can probably guess that the focus isn't likely going to be on Giratina. I think we're probably going to see a climax that involves either Dialga or Palkia depending on the version. But I think that can be a good thing. If you ask me, Giratina's interruption doesn't do much to improve the overall proceedings of the climax; I think it just adds to the incoherence (especially since Dialga and Palkia just... stop being relevant and aren't mentioned once the Distortion World is dealt with; we don't even see them fly away like in the Generations portrayal). And nice as Cynthia is, her involvement in the climax led to the infamous "Hey wait, you're like, the Champion - why the hell aren't you fighting the omniverse-destroying terrorist and the not-actually antimatter dragon god?"

So I actually think that a focus on Dialga or Palkia could be a benefit. I mean, if they really wanted to keep the dungeon/puzzle element of the Distortion World (and I guess Cynthia could come along with this), maybe they could have Dialga or Palkia whisk us and Cyrus away into their dimension. It could be neat to see the Temporal or Spatial World fleshed out some more (oh look, an excuse for them to get their own Origin Formes). Maybe they could include some freaky time- or space-warping puzzles, similar to how the Distortion World used Escherian geometry.

Then, Giratina could be handled in a more dedicated and coherent storyline in the post-game.

then again, FRLG's pokedex happened.

Gen 1 privileges.

Also, they were the first remakes. I'll allow them some slack.

Oh yeah. That thing with Cynthia was weird. I mean, how about you team up with me for the battles? Why don't you want to battle Giratina? Plus, who wouldn't like to team up with the Queen herself for a Pokémon battle?

I would rather have a Platinum remake instead of the Diamond/Pearl remake. But we don't see that happen. What if they change the concept of Gen 4, instead of a remake. Maybe they'll do a Sinnoh Sequel, it takes 10 years from the original DPPl, that the best way to celebrate 10th year anniversary or Maybe a DP Retcon, the entire change of Sinnoh

receiving Eevee from Bebe upon getting to Hearthome for the first time.
As long as it's level 20... wait, was it Platinum or HGSS with the level 5 gift Eevee?

Honestly, I associate the crossgens with spinoffs more than the actual main games, especially considering that I didn't play Platinum until 2012.

Platinum had a lvl20 one, it was lvl5 in DP. HGSS also had a lvl5 one (while it was lvl20 in GS).

And I do agree they should take as much as possible from Platinum, but I'm very afraid they won't. I expect the environment changes to stay at least, and maybe Looker too, though that guess is purely based on Eusine being in HGSS. Using the Platinum Dex though, that just almost sounds too good to be true, I won't believe it until I see it :p

then again, FRLG's pokedex happened. at the end of the day though, Gen 4 probably makes for the hardest remakes since DP is so bad on its own that remaking them without taking everything but the plot of Platinum is a choice.

And didn't HGSS go out of its way not to have the Sinnoh evolutions that didn't require level up (looks at Eevee)?
