Probably because they are on a tight schedule to get the games released and tie it all in with the anime, manga, merchendising, etc. Pokemon at this point is an empire.

Perhaps Megas will return for the Gen 4 Remake.

First you say Megas won't return and Cynthia will get Gigantimax Garchomp.

Now suddenly you say Megas might return.

????

There's not likely that Megas will return with Gigantomaxing being a thing.

Perhaps is just a maybe doesn’t mean they think that probably just throwing me some hope. =)

Alright hear me out. In Generation IX, they will ultimately fuse all the mechanics into one gargantuan of a mechanic:

Z-Megigantimax Dynevolutionizing

/s

They could make Mega Evolution last for 3 rounds like Dynamax/Gigantomax

I think Megas and Z-moves stay the same and come back next game or gen 4 remakes. Don't devaluate them. We even don't know details.

Why do fans like to overinterpretate things? If they would change too much it will be like with the dex thing.

You know, a long time ago I never thoought I'd see the day poke fans clamored and begged for megas and Z-Moves.

I would really hate to see it, but it's possible for Gigantamaxed Dialga and Palkia to exist.

I just don't like when a form can only be rarely used for a legendary Pokemon in general, during wild battles, I have to keep letting Zygarde getting hurt just so it can become its Complete Form, I don't want Dialga and Palkia to suffer the same fate.

Dialga and Palkia already have orbs. They shpuld get origin forms. That's the most logical conclusion and I want it!

Seeing as they are the overseers of time and space, concepts that have existed in the Pokémon Universe since the very beginning, primal is starting to make more and more sense as we mention it. GF please!

Except that antimatter comes into existence as soon as matter does, so Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia make more sense than Primal Dialga and Primal Palkia.

Origin Formes for Dialga and Palkia are kinda tricky. All that Giratina's Origin Forme does is shuffle its stats for the sake of offense and change its ability to Levitate. But Dialga and Palkia's stats are already rounded rather than being defense-oriented like Altered Forme Giratina's were, and I would also think that, these days, you'd need something with a bit more oomph and glamour if you were going to put it on the package of a Pokémon game, due to things like Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion upstaging standard form changes in the years since Platinum came out. Saying something like, "Look! We've reallocated 20 of Dialga's defense points over to its attack!" probably isn't going to impress anymore, even if it does come with a neat redesign.

Conversely, if Dialga and Palkia receive forms that boost their powers rather than merely optimizing or specializing them, then it begs the question of how to handle Giratina, since it already has a very well-established Origin Forme. So do they modify that one, or create yet another form for it?

In fact, it probably would be easier to give them something like Gigantamax forms, because the increase in power with those comes more from the G-Max moves, and, since they don't require held items, could be applied to Giratina regardless of which Forme it is in (or maybe it could have two Gigantamax forms).

(Though for my part, I'm not sure that Dialga and Palkia really need any sort of power boost, as they are both already quite powerful. I'm not even sure why people want them... Is it because people genuinely think they would add something meaningful to the gameplay, even though in the past these things have usually been the source of ridiculous levels of power creep, or is it simply a manner of resignation to the likelihood that Game Freak won't pass up the opportunity just for the sake of game balance and so therefore they might as well make the most of them?)

Also lore-wise I'm not sure that "Origin Formes" as we currently think of them actually make sense for Dialga and Palkia. Giratina does its thing because it usually inhabits the Distortion World, in which it needs to be able to move around freely due to the chaotic laws of physics in that world, but in our world, it becomes affected by gravity and needs to adapt to that, taking on a more rigid and bulky shape. But that's because it's accustomed to living in a world of antimatter. Dialga and Palkia, on the other hand, represent time and space, which we're told in the Sinnoh myths combine to create matter. Our world is a world of matter; it is a world of time and space, so why wouldn't Dialga and Palkia be able to inhabit it as easily as they inhabit their dimensions of time and space? Giratina changes because it is used to being in an environment of antimatter, which exists in our world only in negligible quantities. Time and space exist in our world in abundance.

Dialga and Palkia make 100% sense to have permanent Origin forms, Dialga and Palkia have their own dimensions, it's true canon because of Platinum. Gigantamaxing make zero sense to have on the Time and Space legendaries anyway.

I'll rampage if Dynamax is prominent in Sinnoh. It was the perfect region for Mega evolutions, seeing how Roman specialises in Evolution. I don’t really like Dynamax much to begin with. I'll take Megas and Z-Moves any day over them.

I want new mega evolutions for the three lake spirit Pokemon based on the mirror, sword, and teardrop shaped beads that Bulbapedia claims they were inspired by.

I didn't say otherwise. But their dimensions are of time and space. Time and space exist fully in the main world, too, so it's possible that they wouldn't need to adapt their forms in the same way that Giratina does. There is essentially no antimatter in the main world, which is a stark difference from Giratina's realm that is full of antimatter. It has to compensate for a drastic change in environment, whereas Dialga and Palkia will find the same forces in the main world that also exist in their own realms.

Mega Azelf, Mega Mesprit, Mega Uxie. Hm, they seem reminiscent of the Island Guardians too when I see it. Maybe it would be also cool if they, say, got their own signature move or Z-Move?
