Generation IV Remake Speculation

Will there be remakes in Gen VIII?

They can't fit that many Pokemon in Sinnoh, not even with the Battle Zone, without heavily redesigning it.

Um...yes they could...?
They already have...There were about 450 Pokémon in Sinnoh in Gen 4...just not all of them counted as part of the regional dex...
Whereas with the new policy, they’d have to. It isn’t a matter of adding new Pokémon in...it’s a matter of adding the ones already there into the regional dex...

If Sinnoh remakes do come out in Gen VIII, I can't wait to see what Gigantomax Torterra will look like.

You know what? Screw it. I'm going to expand it to 500. And because a certain someone is concerned about the distribution, I'll give the encounter methods too.

Appreciate the effort. But considering how they put the pokemon in ORAS, Mirage islands and what not, they could even introduce new areas in Sinnoh. It's not that difficult at all.

I doubt they'll introduce new areas. Sinnoh is a big region and it'll probably be a challenge for them to recreate it. They should focus on trying to recreate Sinnoh as faithfully as they can.

Not to mention that I think some of the places need to remade, such as Mt. Coronet. Hoping that HMs or TMs won't be as necessary as they were in DPP, they ought to make them easier to access and make them less-mazelike.

Not to mention to removed such redundant features, namely Fog. The Route to Celestic Town was not an easy one.

I wouldn't want them to change any of these things, to be honest. I think the maze-like structure of Mt. Coronet, the fact that some areas require multiple HMs to traverse etc. and overall that slightly higher level of difficulty add a lot to the challenge and atmosphere of Sinnoh. I would be disappointed if they dumbed it all down.

Bring back Difficulty Modes that also affect the terrains >w<

I agree with @SlowGinFizzzz, the mazelike design is part of Sinnoh's charm. It's a lot more satisfying to explore when you're trying to figure out how to get where you're going instead of mindlessly plodding through a set path. Also, HMs probably won't exist anymore, they'll probably have some kind of method for using field moves that doesn't require Pokemon knowing a certain move, so there's no need to remove HMs.

Bring back Difficulty Modes that also affect the terrains >w<

That wouldn't be feasible. Then you'd have to come up with multiple designs for each area and that could take a long while.

HMs are most likely gone from Sinnoh remakes, so Mt. Coronet is already easier to traverse because of that.
A compromise: instead of being annoyingly reliant on HM usage, Mt. Coronet should become more puzzle-based. Pokémon’s been lacking in that area lately, and it’d make the journey more fun!

Now this is what the original Mt. Coronet should've been like! However, if they do it this way, they should put something that prevents the player from going deeper into Mt. Coronet early on, as it's the place in which the player goes through multiple times in the journey.

Definitely! (y)

I myself was thinking about implementing ancient artifact key items scattered across Sinnoh. Each artifact would be needed to complete different aspects of the puzzles.

Just don't add ice puzzles and I will be alright.

But how else will we get the great and glorious Regigigas?! We must ensure those that face it are worthy with this mind-wacky puzzle!

Suddenly I got flashbacks to the Snowpoint Gym Puzzle as well

Snowpoint was just one big puzzle, really

Funny thing about Regigigas, it's only level 1 in Platinum when you catch it. I don't know why it was feared so much in the Platinum universe when it couldn't even crush a pebble.

To be fair, Regigigas was sleeping for very, very, very long time. Add the moss growing on it, and you get a titan that’s severely weakened compared to its previous state.

Well, we don't exactly know that Regigigas was ever "feared." I know people like to interpret the Sealed Chamber text that way, but that text only defaults to a singular "it" because of how the original Japanese doesn't specify singular or plural. Strictly speaking, there's never been anything in the games that specifically said Regigigas was feared or sealed away. That seems to apply only to its underlings, whose caves are the ones that are unlocked by the Sealed Chamber puzzle and whose Pokédex entries actually make mention of them being sealed:
Regirock was sealed away by people long ago. If this Pokémon's body is damaged in battle, it is said to seek out suitable rocks on its own to repair itself.

Registeel was imprisoned by people in ancient times. The metal composing its body is thought to be a curious substance that is not of this earth.

Whereas Regigigas's entries don't say anything about that, and it doesn't really seem "sealed" in the Snowpoint Temple so much as just dormant and waiting for the other three to be brought to it - and indeed, ORAS showed us that it is actually free to move about as it pleases. The little girl in Pacifidlog who gives clues about the Regis and talks about her grandfather, who she says came from a cold region and told her lots of stories, relays to us that "a giant Pokémon (Regigigas) sometimes visits the Hoenn region," which we eventually find Regigigas doing. It couldn't do that if it were somehow locked away.

To be fair, Regigigas was sleeping for very, very, very long time. Add the moss growing on it, and you get a titan that’s severely weakened compared to its previous state.
Also, it was Lv70 when it was introduced in DP.

For what it's worth, my impression of it being Lv1 in Platinum has always been what Kallyle suggests - an implication that after who-knows-how-many years of hibernation, its power has waned (I presume it doesn't have as much inherent raw power as the likes of say, Groudon or Dialga, or maybe they can store their energy more efficiently). True, DP had it being Lv70, but Platinum has a lot of instances where it seems like they looked back over DP and said, "Hm, maybe we can put a little more thought into this." Also, perhaps it's a trade-off for being able to obtain Dialga and Palkia in the same game? Not that it's fair or sensible to make poor Regigigas be the one who bears that burden, but third versions usually do something like splitting up the exclusives while excluding other Pokémon in order to preserve an incentive for interaction with the original pair of games. So, Platinum players get both dragons, but in exchange for an even shittier Regigigas.
