Mega mewtwo is pretty different from this 50-foot behemoth. It's getting star treatment in the movies, it'll probably get some plot significance in the games, too, since it still had two mysterious powerful new moves. Mega mewtwo shared its movie with genesect, and just had the same style item that was being released for a bunch of other pokemon as far as new swag.
The next movie won't just feature Zygarde - that much is a given. Technically, Zygarde's role in the movie might even end up being as as big as Primal Groudon/Kyogre's in Movie 18, which is to say that the teaser could be misleading.

Basically, either the new zygarde forme(s?) will steal focus from gen VII legendarys, or will be shafted themselves. There's no other way. Either they get tons of focus in a new game, strangling gen VII mons, or they get no attention, and then why on earth did they get a whole freaking movie?
There are a lot of questionable assumptions here. First thing, I've already outlined a way for Zygarde to star in this generation without a new main series release. Secondly, event Pokémon get movies all the time and their in-game roles are very minimal. Lastly, it is hardly impossible for more than one legendary to star in a given game, even if there is only one mascot (which doesn't even have to be legendary). You're being narrow-minded.

I would roll with saying 5 years is illogical, but only if you accept that a two year gen is up there with it.
Not really, considering that three generations only lasted 2.5 years outside Japan. I can see Generation VII lasting 2.5 years worldwide.

Gen 7 could easily debut in fall 2017, which is close to say, a spring 2018 release for the NX.
You might want to rewrite that.

Gen 1 and two I am pretty sure velong in their own category, before the series reached some form of stability, and gen 5 was a 3 year deal in Japan, and would have been one worldwide if it wasn't for the localization delay being cancelled out. 2.5 would suggest a 2019 release, and frankly I do not see Nintendo waiting another 3 years to get Pokemon to their handheld.

For all we know XY would have been released in early 2013 if it hadn't been for the Unova games' delayed localization. If Game Freak expand their staff for the NX transition, they can make a 2.5-year gap work well.

2.5 years isn't 3 years, and the NX handheld could be released in early 2017. Either way, the transition to the NX could be handled well if decent spin-off games were released (as was the case for the DS' first two years) and/or the secondary Generation VII games were n3DS-exclusive.

And let's please stop pretending that Game Freak have to cater to Nintendo's preferences. They have their own interests.

Only in Pokemon can they manage to make a blob with an eye more intriguing than a giant snake-man kaiju that balances life and death.

I imagine it's because the silhouette is likely an alt form to something established, and PokeFlubber is something completely unrealized. It's the age-old "something new".

I don't really think the red gem thing is any indication for this not being a part of Neon Genesis Zygardengelion. Pokemon games typically follow the red vs blue theme, either outright like with RB, RS and DP or indirectly like BW having the legends light up with flames or electricity. Chances are one of Zygardes formes will have some subtle red (RedGarde) going on and the other a subtle blue (BlueGarde) going on. If mini zygarde blob is from RedGarde then it having a red gem makes sense. Perhaps the gem could turn blue for BlueGarde.

I like Blobmon. He seems cool, I hope he is part of Gen 6, and not the much more distant Gen 7.

Don't know if this was posted yet. Just some more fanart for Titan Zygarde to pass the time.

And I saw Serebii Joe say on Twitter that the monster in the trailer has pulsing hexagons.. so yeah, if people aren't yet convinced this is a Zygarde form then I don't know what else to say.

I'm betting the blob is probably Zygarde's dormant forme, like Yveltal's cocoon and Xerneas' tree.

Hmm, the red underbelly does make me question now if it has a link to Zygarde. Until then I thought it could be Zygarde's dormant form or one or its minions out watching the world on its behalf.

All this talk of the NX is rather confusing. Most sites refer to it as a successor to the Wii U, whereas everyone here seems to be referring to it as a replacement for the 3DS, but when you actually check Nintendo interviews, they consistently say its not a replacement for either, but something new to go alongside the current 2.

I am certain that Gen 6 is not over yet, we will get at least one more game, possibly a pair before the end. Zygarde in whatever forme, will be the version Mascot/mascots.
This game/games will most likely come out in 2016 around the time of this movie. I believe the first pair of games in Gen 7 will then take place in 2017.

I still haven't given up hope of Red/Green remakes yet. The Red/Green blob, the Red/Green 4 in Mega Evolution 4, the upcoming 20th anniversary all continue to give me hope in this regard. Maybe the new blob is a new Kanto Pokemon? Revising the Kanto story but theirs new mons there, with megas too, or maybe a future Kanto as many others hope.

Yeah, I subscribe to the theory that we will get a "Pokemon Z" or something of the like in the Spring of 2016, and "Gen 7" in the Fall of 2017.

Game Freak know that their most successful games are those set in new regions. I see no reason for them to add new Pokémon to Kalos instead of exploring the Strange Souvenir region. The idea of a 5-year generation is fairly out there, especially considering that Yokai Watch 3 is coming out next year and will focus on a brand new setting. And I won't even mention the anime's pacing.
I watched a speculation video recently that got me thinking similar. What stuck out to me was the bit about Game Freak wanting to put out "less optional games" (starting @ 6:15)...For one, because it hit me that this actually applies to Gen 6 already if ORAS is any indication. But also because its true that these games don't garner as much attention as their counterparts. They're mostly the same but with added content and expansions. Yet now that GF is on this trip of making the games simpler with less challenges and activities, you have potentially even less purchase incentive for a revisit than before...Between that, and their talk of wanting to keep up with the times and move faster, I could see them focusing on something that's more new to try and grab more people sooner.

Yeah, I also believe Gen 6 is not over yet. According to the ORAS demo data mine, there is supposed to be at least one more game with the Kalos pentagon symbol - saying at least one because the other could very well be the demo. In any case, Serebii's claims that the giant Pokémon is associated with hexagons gives more evidence of it being a Zygarde form or Mega Zygarde.

Hopefully the blob Pokémon is a Pokémon in its own right, and not a spawn that "Zygarde" has created for the sake of the movie.
