From now on, everyone should be cautious when speculating on in-game text, because it could very well be misleading. There were no holes with my previous expectations. I think my perspective was completely reasonable: Game Freak made me look forward to a new region since XY's release; why should I have to sit through a remake, a year break, and a revisit to Kalos in that case? Oh no, the Strange Souvenir and the Backpacker saying we'll see a new region in due time didn't indicate any sort of change, it merely let us know that a new generation was going to exist. What the hell was the point of trying so hard to make us so eager for the next generation upon XY's release if it wasn't going to come out in a timely manner? Game Freak, please explain your reasoning for this. You clearly had a reason; apparently, Generation VII is so special that it not only deserved to be the first generation to be foreshadowed in your games, but also to be foreshadowed four years early and at the very beginning of the previous generation. These games better be revolutionary and filled to the brim with content so that the length of time they had us anticipate them is justified. They're already refusing to do anything major for the 20th anniversary in favor of preserving tradition, which I will never forgive. I'm actually kind of praying now that the Strange Souvenir is a form of an existing Pokemon (that looks vastly different) so that the new region is still released next year.

Also, since they're seemingly not going to use the New 3DS, the NX better incorporate 3D so we can actually get 3D that doesn't lag and possibly 3D in all maps depending on their stance towards it. It's pretty annoying that they have the option to eliminate that now and had it since before ORAS' release, but refuse to fix it.

Kanto remakes
While I was not really up for another Kanto remake prior to the release of ORAS for mainly the same reasons as the current anti-Kanto protesters (already having been remade, Kanto legendaries and starters already available in Generation VI, not demanded by fans as much as Hoenn was), I am now for reasons I stated before and still stand by. The Delta Episode strongly indicated that there is a separate universe where Mega Evolutions exist (XY/ORAS) from a universe where ME's don't exist (Gen III-V). The existence of ME most likely didn't prevent the events of Kanto in the ME universe; thus, another Kanto remake is warranted to showcase the Kanto events in the ME universe.

Sinnoh remakes:
For the same reasons as Kanto remakes, Sinnoh remakes are inevitable. However, I think now (and even within the next few years) is too soon for Sinnoh remakes. We haven't gotten our ME'based Kanto remakes yet. In fact, I don't even think Sinnoh remakes will happen until Generation 7 seeing as how ORAS made the Sinnoh legendaries available.
Origins exists so I don't think I'm necessarily sold on the "Kanto needs a remake so we know what happens in the Megaverse." On top of that, ORAS's main story was barely changed to incorporate Mega Evolution. If anything, a Kanto remake would end up telling the same story as Origins. Essentially, it would tell a slightly expanded generation one story with Megas shoehorned in via Mr. Fuji. They're inevitable, but it's later rather than sooner.

Similarly with Kanto for Sinnoh. If we want to buy into GameFreak's "we remade generation III because people wanted it," then I think it'll be a while before we see Sinnoh remakes. Yes, people want them, but it's not nearly on the same level as the Hoenn remakes were. Of course, if we don't buy into it then logically Sinnoh would be remade in generation VII, seeing as everyone likes to see old regions with new graphic engines and the other improvements regardless.

@Alexander; Kalos sells itself really well so I think any kind of sequel, prequel, midquel, whatever GameFreak comes up with, set in Kalos will be an easy sell. (Especially if they can highlight the changes/improvements.)

Yep. Zygarde and Kalos is the best bet for the base. But with gamefreak wanting to buck the common opinion, I wonder what the twist is.

Prequels. That'll be the twist. If they want to do Kalos again but want to do something different then the prequels are the way to go.

Forever going to agree, in a sense

Calling:
Z Red and Z Blue/ Y Red and X Blue
Feb Release

red fish blue fish confirmed

I'm calling xz yz or zeta also calling it one last time zygarde will get a primal and a mega or two of one of those

Since the Hoopa movie and the Zygarde preview is supposed to come out in Japan theaters next week, I'm wondering if maybe... just MAYBE... we may or may not get a tiny hint about something in CoroCoro this month. It's a really huge stretch, but I'm only bringing it up on the off chance that this game is released in the spring next year instead of fall.

I doubt they'd be revealing anything about this new Kalos game this soon. Doing that would take focus away from Super Mystery Dungeon and Yo-Kai Watch, which are supposed to "keep us content" for the remainder of the year. I'm thinking the first news of this game will be revealed (at least, by Nintendo) maybe at a Holiday Direct around the beginning of Fall.

They're already refusing to do anything major for the 20th anniversary in favor of preserving tradition, which I will never forgive.

We don't know that yet. Anything's possible. What if we get both the Kalos game and a Kanto game in the same year? The Kalos game could be released in early spring, with the Kanto game correlating with the original English release of Red/Blue in late September/early October?

Hmmmm it is quite a conundrum for sure.....This generation might b the weirdest one we've seen. On one hand you could say that the next game could just b another type of third version with some bits and parts that would make it different from the norm. On the other hand you have to face the facts that Game Freak has dropped some major hints inside and outside the games that they are up to something very different from what we're use to. It's almost interesting from a creative stand point to c where Game Freak started with this story and where they ended up. If they don't go the typical third version route, we may in fact find ourselves needing to rethink this Gen altogether. Let's say they do go the route of staying in Kalos or even going to a new region altogether, instead of a single game that releases XY. Then we have ourselves with the possibilities of new forms, megas, and even the very small possibility that Gen 6 is in fact split into 2 parts and we have another (most likely smaller) set of new Pokemon to b released. In any case, if they take the brand new story route with new whatever they add, we find ourselves with not only 2 sets of games that have megas/forms/Pokemon that are exclusive to said pair, but 3. Of course I'd imagine the new game would have all the stuff the other games have, but any of the older games (XY,ORAS) wouldn't b able to receive the new stuff added. As I said b4, if this course of action does take place in some form we may need to rethink everything about this Gen. It could possibly go from being the Gen of life and death to the Gen of division and separation lol

No Main Series Game This Year?

Hope this isn't too stupid a topic, but I'm really, really curious.

*ahem*

Okay, the teaser for the next Movie has some people talking about how it means the next game will be released next year thanks to Zygrande's presence.

...which makes me wonder: does that mean no Main Series game this year after all

Because I think we would've heard something by now and it's feeling late, though they could always surprise us. It's just that it was feeling like a Main Series game a year was a given, especially thanks to the pressure put on them by Yokai Watch.

Now I'm not so sure... :-/

What do you guys think

Ok, so Zygarde (and most likely Volcanion and a Generation 7 Pokémon) will be featured in Movie 19. Makes sense, since Yveltal in M17 got away and M17's Xerneas is resting and can't defeat it.

So my thought process is Yveltal goes on a rampage of some sort, which upsets Volcanion and Zygarde. Volcanion goes on a rampage as well and Ash and co. must team up with the Gen. 7 Pokémon (most likely the Strange Souvenir Pokémon) to help Zygarde balance everything out. Pokémon movies are very pretty in art and locations, but they're hardly unpredictable and original.

What this means is that we're getting Z or X2/Y2 or V/W. But we're definitely getting one more Kalos game. Most likely in the fall. Meaning they're not doing bullMuk for the 20th anniversary. :'( I would've killed a thousand Milotic for a Yellow remake in February.

I honestly hope there's no main series game this year, let the main series rest for a little bit. We'll probably get something next year.

I honestly think people are reading too much into the general "we want to surprise you" comments made by GameFreak. No company is going to say "we don't want to break expectations," "we want to be predictable." No. They're going to talk themselves up. That's why I'm still counting on a simple third game, probably Z, to tie up Kalos. It's possible that they go a different route with this third game, a prequel or a sequel or whatever, but I think GameFreak is going to do what they do best. Now, at the end of the day it's not even a bad thing if they do a third game since they would likely add more to Kalos, add more Megas (cc: Mega Flygon?), and add a bigger post game (I wouldn't hold your breath for a Battle Frontier though), which were about the biggest complaints with Kalos.

Ultimately no matter what GameFreak does there's going to be division and separation. If I'm being honest, all the division and separation I see for Gen VI is a bunch of adults, who take Pokemon way too seriously, complain about "casuals" (in a fucking KID'S GAME of all places! is nothing sacred anymore?) ruining Pokemon.

I think it's mostly been agreed upon by a lot of people that the next game will come in 2016 at some point. From what I've seen this is what a lot of people(including myself) have always expected. Said pressure by Yokai Watch isn't really a problem as while it may b popular, Pokemon has it's footholds and isn't going anywhere so it really isn't put in any danger. This year off of the main series is a good thing. It allows the games some breathing room and will keep the series fresh or at least fresher than it would b if it continued year after year releases. In any event I would not expect a release this year at all. I would even go as far to say that it's likely we won't even get an announcement about the new game(s) until early next year anyway.

It is what it is. I guess we won't find out until it actually happens lol Also people take a lot of things seriously....it doesn't matter whether it's a kids game or not. At the risk of being cliche, it is what u make it to b. Pokemon can b "casual" or it can b extremely competitive. I mean I watched part of the Nationals tournament this past weekend and I gotta give the people, both kids and adults, props for putting in the time and effort they do. If u get good at something (even kids games) u can make mad money off of it....no point in getting mad over other people griping about dumb stuff. Just enjoy Pokemon ur way and that's all that matters lol

Edit: Whoops didn't mean to double post sorry....lol

I'm not talking about actual competitive Pokemon players, I'm talking about people who are playing the main story and maybe do some online battling on the side. You know, the people that are like "Pokemon's so easy now." Those are the people who take the kids game too seriously.

I don't think they'll hint towards 7th gen yet, they've been trying to keep new Pokemon under wraps lately. Zygarde and Volcanion are a given, besides that they might do Eternal Flower Floette or an older legendary. They'll certainly be promoting Zygarde, Volcanion, and Eternal Flower Floette in the new game.

Thousand Waves and Thousand Arrows implies that it's not going to be Z, it'll be two versions. Probably XY2, there's a lot they can do to develop Kalos still.

I never got this whole 'you're taking a kids game too seriously' mentality, mostly because it terribly talks down to kids. Kids are far smarter then people give them credit for, they can deal with challenge, they can locate the problems in a game they enjoy or hate, they can endure some dark moments, among other things. Things like that are not going to be lost on them and they will catch on and appreciate them when they come across and overcome them. They don't need to be talked down to so that they can enjoy a game.

Another problem I have with this is that it ignores the fact that Pokemon (among other such series) is a franchise that can appeal to all ages and groups. That's why we have a competitive scene, fans that appreciate the side features, monster designs, etc. All of those groups were able to be appealed to in previous games and that's why they're so beloved, there was never a moment that the franchise felt like it had to tone down for one group at the expense of another. So of course when a set of games does just that, it's going to be a problem. Pokemon can cater to all groups just fine, it doesn't need to only focus on the 'cell phone' group and ignore the other fans.

In short, I don't get why it being a kids game means it can get away with it having its flaws, especially if they do take away from the game itself that can affect the enjoyment of both kids and the other fans playing it.

Curiosity question, but would it be possible for Thousand Waves and Thousand Arrows to play a part in a single game instead of two? Like, let's say that you have to fight Xerneas in the main gameplay, and then Yveltal in the post-game, or vice-versa.

Oh, and I found out a way to please people and prevent Game Freak from "dumbing down" the franchise. Virtually almost everybody in the world owns a cellphone, right? I say we all gather 'round the campfire and burn our cellphones to hell and back in protest. That'll teach them rascals at Game Freak for trying to appeal to the cellphone audience and giving the hard-core fanboys the boot out the door.

How would that work though, would it be tied to picking Serena/Calem/their Ersatz like in HGSS and Emerald with the Eon Duo?

Possible, but unlikely. Game Freak won't make a single game if they don't have to, they make more money splitting up the content into two games instead of one.

People play games for fun, for a challenge, for whatever. And if people think that experience is being watered down and thus negatively affecting the enjoyment or challenge they have playing it, they have every right to complain. They are paying customers afterall - some long time customers + fans.

Is it really that hard for them to at least include a difficulty setting? A feature that millions of other games (and RPGs!) automatically come with. B2W2 did it but you had to play through the game first then share the key with another game. It was a joke of an installation of something that is a common, standard feature in gaming. So even the one time they did include it they couldn't just include it normally.

You're right that there will always be division and separation, but in regards to this specific topic there doesn't have to be because it's pretty easy to fix this and appeal to both sides of the argument without it affecting and detracting from the other. Kids? Play on easy/normal difficulty. Adults? Play on hard. (Doesn't have to be so cut and dry as I'm sure there's adults that don't care for hard and kids that would try something harder but you get the point.)

I also don't understand this whole notion of ridiculing adults voicing their complaints and placing so much emphasis on it being a kid's game. There's a reason XY had so many nostalgic Kanto references thrown into it - and it wasn't for the kids. They are pretty much wanting to appeal to both older fans (who are adults these days) and the younger kids (their target audience mostly) these days. So why shouldn't they take into account what both older fans and younger fans would like? As long as it's reasonable and doesn't affect the other - like a difficulty option.

I reckon we'll see a ZXZY game, maybe called X2Y2 but the same general idea. Sequel to the Kalos games, neo team flare, some new megas and zygarde gets new megas or possibly formes. Game is set in kalos with southern kalos explorable. Movie will be about Zygarde Vs Volcanion, perhaps they'll throw in Floette-E and AZ in there or they might make Floett-E have it's own short like Meloetta. Maybe even as part of the mega evolution special?

Zygarde appearing in the special feature trailer really means next to nothing. If I remember correctly, early on in movie promos, sometimes Pokemon and legends that had nothing t do with the finished product would appear anyways, like Lugia and Ho-Oh for that Zoroark trailer. Let's just assume this simply means that movie 19 is confirmed and nothing else, especially if it's related to the core games.
