Generation VII confirmed!

Flaming and Baiting
The "importance" is completely irrelevant here. In terms of npc teams, they both have the same concept: type themed.

By this logic, then pretty much every type needs to represented by at least one type specialist. But the truth is, type specialist don't just include gym leaders. It also has champions, elite four members(the former and to a lesser extent). So if game freak were to meet your standars, then we "need" 1)a psychic, grass bug ect..... champion 2) a grass, fairy flying ect... elite four members.

And yet, i don't see anyone complaining about all these happening.

Yeah, no. Game freak is the one who decides if X type needs to be in Y region or not. The pokemon world being "big" is a loose excuse at best to justify the existence of a dark type gym leader.

All of the gym leaders from kanto(bar giovanni) say hi.

Pewter city gym and celadon city gym say hello.

You're way overthinking this. Gym leaders specialize in TYPES. The E4 have no such restrictions. I'll use Sinnoh as an example because of such weak diversity. Almost none of the E4 used all of the same types mostly because they lacked any proper fire type pokemon, but if it were a rule to use only their type then DP would not have any E4 users especially the fire type.

Yes they do. The DP elite 4 members having pokemon not of their types is because of DP's pathetic pokdex selection. Case in point: When platinum expanded the sinnoh dex, game freak promptly made all of the sinnoh E4 have pokemon of their types.

So yes, elite 4 members do have a restriction like gym leaders, and i even recall a lot of people complaining that the sinnoh e4 in DP didn't have pokemon of it's type.

Gee, thanks! I think you're an amazing person too!/sarcasm

*Sigh*

In all honesty; why do the mods not ban comments like yours? So you're conter-argument against to me is to insult me? Lol ok.

And if you're so irratated by me, then put me on your ignore list.

So your argument is that it's not fair for the last remaining type to get a gym leader, but it is perfectly okay for the E4 to do the same even though it is far less likely to happen? Exactly.

Move on from the squabbling. If you have problems with other members/their posts, either report them or speak to a mod about the situation. Don't start posting unnecessary remarks. That goes for replying to those remarks too.

Falconwing already said to simmer down, so drop that part of the subject entirely now please.

Guess the Dark-type Gym leader was left in the dark. :p

Anyway, I hope to see a miscellaneous Champion to keep us on our toes. :)

Hmm. Four Islands. Elite 4.

Could be pulling something out of nothing here, but it would be nice if this was the generation where the E4 come out of their boxes a bit more. Perhaps each of them is the representative of their respective island, and you'll meet them briefly on there? If the central artificial island is where you go at the end, there'd be some nice mirroring there.

Perhaps the Elite 4's typings will mirror the guardians. Say one could be Electric due to Tapu Koko being Electric/Fairy and guardian of the yellow island, Melemele.

The other Elite 4 could be Water (Blue, Polu), Fire (Red, Ulaula) and Grass (Green, Omaoma).

These four typings are also a reference to the four starter typings from Gen I.

If the gym leaders covered 8 different types and the Elite Four covers 4 others then that leaves 6 more. I reckon that we either get type specialist trainers to cover the remaining types post game or the Champion would use one of the remaining types left over. That is my speculation. ORAS had type specialists to cover the remaining types so it is possible.

I wish that we could move away from type-specialists. People always has at least cover for most of the types and if they don't, they usually try very hard and fail find some cover.

I would like to see dual-type-specialists. One type could cover the other type very well. Say one type is Bug, the other type could be Water to cover for Bug's fire, rock and flying weaknesses.

Perhaps the Champion could be a Steel-type user then?

Though that's going off the idea of Magearna being a secret guardian of the artificial island. Something interesting to note is that, along with Tapu Koko, they can form into something (Pokeball or chicken) and they both have Fairy as a secondary typing.

Perhaps all the Guardian Pokemon have Fairy as a secondary type, and Magearna is somehow the 'boss' of them (like in Gen V with Keldeo), or is Magearna's role already too characterised to make this assumption?

I've said this before, but I want them to move away from type-centric Leagues altogether. I would love to see some more focus put on other aspects of the game mechanics, like with Sinnoh's Stat Trainers. Maybe have Physical- or Special-based Gyms, or ones that run gimmicks like Trick Room or Fling.

Like in Insurgence?

I have thought this for quite a while now, ever since I saw Tapu Koko's typing.

What if it's just a coincidence that Magearna could possibly have the same typing as the island guardians?

I hope not, I don't want Fairy to become the next go-to legendary typing. I'd really like it if they shared design elements but had completely different typings.

Well, we only got one in the games we currently got which is Xerneas (two if you count the mythical Diancie). Do we need 4 fairy type legendary pokemon introduced? No but it is a possibility that the guardians share the Fairy type.

Exactly my point.

I have a strong feeling that the non-existant Poison-legendary will stay exactly that, non-existant.
