The name of the song is a play on words of the English word Melody, which is written in Japanese as メロディー; Meromero (メロメロ), the Japanese name for the move Attract, which itself comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia meaning head over heels or spellbound; and Vocaloid (which would be written in Katakana as ボーカロイド).
A guitarist and songwriter who made their debut as a Vocaloid producer in 2011, Kairiki Bear's name was inspired by the enemy of the same name that appears in the popular Nintendo game Earthbound. Best known for songs such as Alkali Underachiever (アルカリレットウセイ, Alkali Rettousei) and Darling Dance (ダーリンダンス, Daarin Dansu), this Project VOLTAGE song is only the third Vocaloid song from Kairiki Bear this year, with the producer having semi-retired from active Vocaloid work in late 2022 due to demotivation.
Project VOLTAGE's first sub-project, "18 Types of Hatsune Miku and Partner Pokémon Illustrations and Settings" (18タイプの初音ミク&相棒ポケモンのイラスト・設定資料) featured a set of 18 artworks from 6 separate artists based on the theme of "What if Hatsune Miku was an XX-type Pokémon Trainer". This project completed on September 28th, 2023, with the posting of the Dragon-type Hatsune Miku with her partner Pokémon Miraidon, however the past months have seen an additional range of additional bonus illustrations also being released. All illustrations released by the project to date can be found catalogued on Bulbapedia.
