Where is he currently in the anime? I remember seeing him recently but only in the form of TR thinking about him or that mirage episode in DP.

Pretty sure the last time we actually saw him was in DP80 where he rejected Yanma. He's still in what we can assume to be Viridian at the gym or wherever his headquarters always have been.

He's still in what we can assume to be Viridian at the gym or wherever his headquarters always have been.

If his headquarters is in the Viridian Gym, that would mean Agatha is a Rocket too since she was Viridian Leader last time we saw the place. Giovanni retired from it at some unspecified point before Battle Frontier.

He has some base out in the mountains (it's guarded by two grunts with sticks. I kid you not), and some others around the area. He mentioned early on that the building Mewtwo destroyed was his headquarters, but we've seen similar buildings since then so either it was rebuilt or he had more lying around.

Maybe he's in the beginning stages of planning to invade Sinnoh. The Hippowdon episode was on this morning and Cassidy says that Giovanni informed her that she and Butch were his two and only Sinnoh reps. Provided that she wasn't lying, he at least has some interest in the region for him to send someone besides Jessie and James there.

Sadly we don't get to see that much of him unless there is a Boss fantasy, flashback, or he gets mentioned by some Rocket.

I think "beginning stages" is right, as he didn't seem to have one in the Yanmega episode.

He's abandoned the Viridian gym though, because Agatha looked over that and it's clear the show didn't make her anything like the villain she was in the manga so it's doubtful that they're tied in with one another.

His base got destroyed - I wonder if they'll tie it into Celadon and Silph Co for future purposes in the plot? =O

I want to see what the situation's like in those other areas. And find out if they actually moved into Hoenn or just went in for Rayquaza.
