well then...

I can't saying anything that hasn't already been said except...

SILVER YOU LOOK AWESOME I WANT TO BATTLE YOU NOW THANK GOODNESS YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE A GIRL AGAIN!

Had to say it.

So... yeah. I was all set to shut off the trailer when all of a sudden a familiar tune pops up and... KANTO!

It's times like this where I wonder... what do all those who thought Kanto was getting scrapped think?

EDIT: Oh, and the route on screen with Silver... That's wonderful route 29

Hahahaha. I remember when I first saw him. I thought "My rival's a girl? Really?"

Then when Elm said it was a boy I was like "Wtf!?!?!"

But yeah, he's really cool. Best rival ever (followed by Green)

looking at the images on Serebii, the park ball has been replaced with regular poke balls for the bug catching contest.

That's not a regular pokeball..

But it doesn't look like the old park ball either

nope, it's a pokeball with a C on it. Kinda like an anime ball. A normal ball with a special symbol. Think Pikachu.

Yeah but weren't the "C Balls" used in the Safari Zone? These new ones are Compe Balls. Compe from Competition.

Pallet town is looking better than ever, though I can't help but notice that it looks a lot like Twinleaf town. The only difference is that there is the lab instead of another house.

No. We've seen a Safari Zone screen, using Safari Balls.

Compe(tition) Balls are for Bug-Catching Contest. It's confirmed.

Also, I bet 10 smackers that they'll be called "Contest Balls" in English version (that fits the character limit).

He looks more like a girl now then he did back in GSC imo. :p But his animation is so sinster and badass<3

The reason why the Park Ball was replaced with the Compe Ball is because a ball with the same name(with a different purpose) was used in DPPt for Pal Park.

I really disliked the fact that over one minute was spent on showcasing the PokéWalker, but I suppose that the Pokémon Company knows what they're doing as far as marketing is concerned.

On the other hand, I thought that the acknowledgement of Kanto towards the very end was beatifully done, and not because of the new graphics which aren't a priority to me in the least. The last line of text that showed up said "Then the adventure continues...", which to me is a sign of great things to come that weren't in the original games. Remember that the mere inclusion of Kanto in Gold and Silver was a surprise on its own right, but the continued adventure boiled down to little more than having more battles (the Gym Leaders, Silver and most importantly, Red). This time around, the Pokémon Company wants us to know that Kanto will make a return (even though there is a new generation of players who would otherwise be as surprised by it as we were 10 years ago). The real question is what sort of new adventure awaits us, and this is where I expect the remakes will diverge most from the Generation II games.

Of course, this is not to say that Johto itself will be devoid of surprises. We know based on previous coverage that there is going to be a story climax preceding the Ho-Oh/Lugia encounter, and I think most of us agree that the Radio Tower event wouldn't be called that. Furthermore, the narrator in the video says "The curtain to this endless story will now lift. Follow the Legendary Pokémon to a new adventure!", which to me suggests yet again that Ho-Oh and Lugia will play an important role in the story.

I would think that if Game Freak had cared about retaining an item's exact functionality between different games, the Poké Ball used for DPPt's Pal Park wouldn't have been called "Park Ball" in the first place. I doubt that Game Freak would go through with this change if the Park Ball weren't present in these games, which I think it will in a new Pal Park replacing Kanto's Safari Zone.

You beat me on that UL. I was also going to say that the name change does make sense for avoiding confusion with DPPt's Park Balls. So it's nice for me. After all, Competition Ball fits better than Park Ball, as you can only use them during the Bug Batching Contest and not all the time while in the Park, so they weren't (National) Park Balls at all ever since the start, but Contest Balls. So yeah, I agree with Maxim, most likely they will be named "Contest Ball" on the English translation.

Oh and am I the first person not to go fangasm after seeing Pallet Town? It looked nice in 3-D, sure, but Red's house looked awfully huge IMO. Other Though I loved the Route 1 music.

Fangasm = orgasm of a fanboy/girl over something non-sexual
QFT = quoted for truth

Yes.

Red's house looked awfully huge IMO.

This is because Red lives large and in charge. Small houses can not contain him.

Hell, he needed a whole f'n mountain to contain him.

QFT. Lol and I just learned what that means :XD: All houses have two floors these days anyway. Of course that wasn't enough for Red.

Probably because you knew that Kanto would be in the games anyway lol. For anyone who has never experienced GSC and were never aware of Kanto being intended for these games, I believe it's placement at the end of the trailer was an extremely pleasant surprise for them. :)

Even for the likes of myself and Unown Lord, it was pleasing enough to be treated to the footage because we know that it has the potential for some great gameplay this time around. Unlike UL though, i've gotta say that I felt a wave of nostalgia emanate towards me when I saw the updated Magnet Train cutscene, and Route 1 and Pallet Town maps with gorgeous Route 1 music playing over it. Every GSC enthusiast must've rejoiced at the footage.

Um what?

Speak for yourself. I've experienced both RBGY and GSC, and I also knew Kanto was intended to be in these games before it was even confirmed because of LOGIC, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the Kanto clips and find it special.

It's seeing Kanto in Gen 4 graphics.

Also, route 1 music. Which to a lot of us, was a defining song of the franchise.
