I dunno if a remake is a good idea. I mean... Gold/Silver are awesome. Sure, their graphics are dated, but who cares? I don't care much for graphics. I prefer characters and storyline.

Their batteries are dead.

Edit: Oops, late.

Mine isn't dead yet, but some of my friends games are, and they also have dead copies of R/S/E (no berries) and R/B/Y. I would get GSDS if mine died, though.

Haven't checked my GS game yet, last time for a couple of months. I will get sad when it depletes, but with the obvious GSDS coming, I'll make it. The only thing is that I have to wait until it's out in Europe, and judging by the time it takes from getting through the translation from Japanese to English, I'm not that optimistic

How long do you think it will take to translate the game if we say it's out in Japan on it's tenth anniverary 21. November.

No idea. But they would delay the game a lot just so it can have a believable release. Or they will do the bold thing. Worldwide release. Its possible really as well if they really wanted to.

From past patterns; November for Japan, March/April USA, Summer UK. This is the usual pattern is unlikely to change. It will easily be at least a year for English release. Think Platinum release + 1 year.

March April is usually for September. So then say if it comes out in November a May release or late may would be fine. Platinum actually has the shocking release for the 22nd of May for Europe and 14th for Australia. So for platinum to get to Europe it took only 8 months. So for this it would be in September around 10 months. Sounds reasonable no?

I am not. Importing always helps. But yeah some are unfortunate to be unable to. Anyway expect say 30 minutes after the show plays me having a video of me taping it commenting it and saying my general opinion on whatever this is.

Wouldn't that push the overall release data back more then? You'd need game to be translated to European languages as well as English and so on, but that idea would be better IMO, get the games sooner!

You never know. I doubt it but you never know. Nintendo seems more keen on getting things to everyone more quick. And hey its a worldwide announcement. But thats just a pipe dream.

I think by "world-first" announcement (or however they worded it), they meant that they will be the first in the world to announce it, nothing deeper. It will probably get region-specific announcements later on for other regions, just like other games do.

I hope they keep this release pattern, because if Nintendo wants to keep the tenth anniversary thing worldwide, we'll have to wait more than a year until October 2010 for American release, and until 2011 for Europe, which is way too long. I can't wait that much!

Well, in predicting the release date, we also have to remember that these games have been a lot more hyped and anticipated in the US than in Japan. There's nothing about the actual process of making the games that means there must be a built-in delay. If they decided to work closely with Nintendo of America and other Nintendo divisions through the whole process, they could speed up the worldwide release as much as they want. It'll still probably be a few months, but I have a feeling that the US release will be out sooner than normal after the Japanese release.

Oh no trust me the hype over the remakes in Japan is about as equal if not more then the worlds.

Sun Gold and Moon Silver are very plausible. I've always considered them after the two Digimon games for the DS were renamed from Sunburst/Moonlight to Dawn/Dusk in the US. It just seemed like a pointless change, unless you think of it as Nintendo not wanting to confuse people with similar names.

Anyway, as we wait, how about imagining what the music will sound like in these games? Try these:

I don't think Sun Gold and Moon Silver are plausible at all - what does Ho-oh have to do with the sun, or Lugia with the moon? The "Fire" and "Leaf" in the previous remakes' titles referred to the specific mascot Pokémon, and while that doesn't necessarily men that the same convention will be held to with these games, there's zero connection between the sun and moon and anything that exists within those two games. (Yeah yeah, they were the first to feature a daily cycle - but why would they choose to reference that little bit of trivia in the titles rather than something to do with the games' actual Pokémon or plot?)

well, Ho-Oh is represents the rainbow, and a rainbow appears when the sun shines after it rains. As for Lugia, it could just be there as a parallel, or:

The Lu- may come from luna, meaning moon.

From Lugia's wiki. Also, Ho-Oh is guardian of the skies, of which the sun is part of, while Lugia is guardian of the sea, and the moon controls the tides.

I just mean out of all the suggested ideas, this is the most plausible. The true names will probably not be anything close to the theorized names.
