I take offense to people nitpicking on the smallest things. What, do you want me to say "...the ones that do seem to excessively swear with the intent to offend someone are trolls or actual children that this topic was meant to protect."? That statement is just not true, it implies that it is always a troll or a child who swears excessively with the intent to offend, when in reality, that is not always the case, it usually is. I could say "most of the time" but using the word "usually" gives the same effect, and I save time typing.

Oh and since we're on the topic of nitpicking on the stupidest details that obviously make the entire argument invalid, using the word "and" is a horrible way to start a sentence, in fact, you aren't really supposed to.

Oh yes, because I forgot what a swearfest Bulbagarden is. I don't see why you're lecturing bulbagardeners on moderation when there isn't even as much swearing on this board as you're making it out to be, and the ones that do seem to excessively swear with the intent to offend someone are usually trolls or actual children that this topic was meant to protect

I never once said everyone around here swears and this site is a "swearfest" so I am not sure where you got that, I am just saying you don't have to swear alot or much, if you do use the odd cuss word thats all. People could go through their whole life and never swear once and still do everything they are doing now without problems. I know alot or most people don't swear, but I just don't see what good swaring does anyway, I hardly ever swear or rarely anyway and I can get on fine. You can practically do anything without the need to swear, but in no way am I saying everyone around here swears or am I telling them they should stop just because I said these things.

You missed my point. A person could then use the word "usually" to say that while a majority of people are trolls and whatnot, there is still a group of people who like to offend people with foul language. That's why it's a bad word to use.

And again, I'm with Shinx. I can honestly say I have never said anything worse than "damn" with the exception of when I sang Greased Lightning because the word "shit" is actually part of the lyrics. Sadly, I can't do anything about that.

By the same token, the majority or the world's most successful people would have sworn at some point.

Hell, our Prime Minister staged an "accidental" slip of the tongue and said "shit" on live national television JUST so the majority of voters could relate to him.

Says quite a bit when politicians start swearing and it makes them seem more human.

I find it sad when politicians have to swear to seem more human.

Can we just end this if people wanna swear they will if they don't then they don't I for one swear cause it calms me down and it helps me fit in more since everyone at my school swears all the time, hell I just heard two businessmen swearing while they were working (I work by cleaning their office)

Actually all it says is that most people do swear, and the people who get uppity about it are just being butthurt.

It's like going to a party and complaining about the noise.

And the dancing.

And the drinking.

And the fact that everyone else is having fun.

Well that may be true, but you shouldn't always do something just because you can or are allowed to. Or if you do do it, do it in moderation, not all the time or a lot of the time. Or be creative.

Don't say F*** all the time, say "Oh Crap" or "oh fudge" or "Fudge you" sounds a bit better even if it has the same meaning.

Instead of saying "Hell no" or "What the Hell" why not say "Heck no" or "What the...!?!" you get the same jist without saying "hell"

Saying things like "God no" or "Dear god" might offend those who are beivevers in god or religious, could see it as "blaspheming" I don't agree with people saying those things myself but I can't stop someone saying it, but I would never say things like that.

You can't stop anyone swearing, and I'm not trying to. I'm just saying there could be better ways of saying things than by swearing, thats why those words are considerred "bad" some are not so bad if used in the right context, examples:

Hell = referring to that place below with fire and devil lives
Bloody = covered in blood etc...
Bastard = A child who was born two to parents that are not maried.

Why does using 'Fudge' instead of 'Fuck' somehow change the meaning? It means the same dang pizzy thing, except that the words sound a little different. It's not the bloody words used, it's the fudging MEANING you use. But if you're going to let little words rule your mind like a little Motherhugger from heck, I'm not going to stop you.

See? The same meaning, except the words are a little different. Now any kids viewing this post will learn to swear using 'Fudge' instead of 'Fuck'. It doesn't change anything.

Also, if you think fudge is a less offensive term than fuck, you've never heard a gay guy been called a 'fudgepacker'.

I see more asterisks on Serebii than swear words on bulbagarden, so why are you lecturing bulbagardeners on swearing moderately when they already do? Unless you actually thought Bulbagarden swears waaaay too much, which it doesn't.

So why you posted this:

Well that may be true, but you shouldn't always do something just because you can or are allowed to. Or if you do do it, do it in moderation, not all the time or a lot of the time. Or be creative.

I don't really know, unless you meant that in general terms, which isn't the point of this thread. This thread is about the "excessive" swears in Bulbagarden.

As for the naughty no-no topics, if those children understand the innuendo in some of the posts in these forums, then they aren't that innocent to begin with.

My gosh. If you like to say/write cuss words, go ahead. If you don't like to say cuss words, don't say/write them. Either person doesn't have to go to a forum that allows curse words if they don't like it. :/

I personally don't like curse words, so I don't use them, but if anyone wants to rant by saying the ABC cuss' then go ahead.

Someone shame frame this out of control pile of doggy-doo already. That's not something I'd say often, either. For your viewing pleasure, I'll summarize the rest of the topic if it continues here:

"blah blah blah immature"
"blah blah blah freedom of speech"
"blah blah blah its normal"
"blah blah blah you forgot the apostraphe"
"blah blah blah you mis-spelled apostrophe"
"blah blah blah it's misspelled jackass"
"blah blah blah no its not cockwaffle"
"blah blah blah shit piss fuck cunt cocksucker motherfucker tits fart turd and twat i fucked your mom"
"blah blah blah bad words"
"blah blah blah debate mechanics"
"blah blah blah i dont care"
"blah blah blah you're wrong"
"blah blah blah no you're wrong"

...wait, those last three summarize all internet arguments. >_> Eh, whatever.

Just *facepalm* at this thread.
It's as simple as this:

Some people don't like swearing.
Some people like swearing.

I don't like swearing myself, but I do not let it get to me. I must admit swearing is not the most politest language ever, mind you.
If anything, people should just get over swearing and get on with their life. As long as people don't cuss excessively, I'm perfectly fine.

Shinx said it has the same meaning.

So in a a few years when everyone says fudge over fuck and accept it as having the same derogatory meaning, then we're back to where we started.

Seriously, why bring down more words (especially a delicious dessert) because you're too uptight to say fuck. If I recall, there was a time when nigger was just a word to refer to black people before negative connotations attached to it. Apparently flip is a derogatory filipino slur, I still don't know how that happened, I mean the word "flip".

Now calling people black is apparently racist, and African-American is more politically correct even if those people's families were living in the America longer than some white people who are just referred to "Americans". I have a friend who laughs when people refer to her as African-Canadian, and a friend who got pissed off because you called a black pencil crayon black.

I think everyone in this thread should drink a fifth, smoke a bowl, and chill the fuck out. Its the goddamned internet people.

Heh, I've seen worse. I remember we had hearings, trials, and other things of that sort brought about the extramarital sexual conduct carried out by one of our former presidents in the US.

You forgot the one post I made where I ended it with "Beer is good."

Honestly, I couldn't agree more. This is the internet (where worse things like pornography are much easier to access than they were when I was a kid), and this is an internet forum that allows cursing and profanity.

Honestly, as I have probably said already, if someone doesn't like the cursing here, there are other forums that do not allow cursing that would probably be more up their alley. Also, this forum allows fanfiction of all varieties, as long as there is a rating on them. To disallow cursing just to benefit a few people would cause the fanfiction writing community of bulbagarden to suffer greatly.
