Can we stop using Hidden Power as an argument? Genesect is not a counter to Umbreon, HP Fire always 2HKOes! Heatran walls Houndoom? Shut up, Hidden Power Ground OHKOes 100% of the time!

As Winterdaze pointed out Milotic with HP Electric is now very rare, so Milo is basically setup fodder for any Gyarados, no matter if it has Dragon Dance, is a RestTalk set, or a DD + Taunt set. Don't forget that Toxic is the bane of Milotic's existence, Marvel Scale doesn't help it at all here.

Love them both, Milotic looks pretty and gets Recover, while Gyarados has better movepool.

Milotic is an obnoxious wall and I don't even think it's that pretty. Gyarados is a cool sweeper that even has a decent degree of versatility. The choice is not that difficult.
