Read it again. That was when I was under the impression the 7th gym was Dark, which as I found out is wrong. If it was Dark, that would be true.

Anyway, I have no idea why they're so against having a Dark type gym. All other types, even Fairy which was just introduced this game, have gyms except Dark, and there's already been 3 Dark type Elite 4 members, so it's not like they're afraid of making type specialists for it. I honestly do not see a reason for them not to have made one by now.

Maybe GF decided to make it a tradition of having no Dark-type gym while having Dark-type specialists within the Elite Four?

Well we still aren't wrong are we?
It can still happen. Half of the games have featured Dark Elites. It's only a matter of time.

Maybe they think the power of "Evil" cannot be controlled by a 'mere gym leader', but only by those who have acheived a type "Master" level, hence, the E4

By that logic, the zillions of other random trainers wouldn't use Dark types either.

If it is a tradition, it's a pointless one. There's nothing to be gained by not having one.

Next time someone has a Q&A/interview with Game Freak, they should ask them about this. It's really baffling as to why it hasn't happened at this point.

May I just express my confusion and disappointment that they didn't give Gym Leaders/Elite Four an ingame model that appears on the battlefield instead of that 2D image? It makes sense with Shauna and Calem/Serena since they're your rivals, but only after does it seem Team Flare get them. I mean, at least give the Champion a unique model that appears when you defeat her.

Nah, I think it's become a tradition for GF at this point.

Dark is a type of mystery and beauty, as Karen said. Not everyone can understand or use it, in-game at least.

Maybe the low ranking trainers are simply using them for the sake of it. Only a true "Master" level trainer - E4 level - could understand and bring out the power of "Dark/Evil" and thus can control a full team of Dark Types

Which doesn't explain why there aren't gym leaders, considering that gym leaders would count as high ranking trainers. We know for a fact that past champions can act as gym leaders, so their skill level can reach even that high.

Dragon Pokemon have stronger in-game support as hard Pokemon to train than Dark types do and yet we've had plenty of Dragon gym leaders

Oh my God, this bugs me so much. Of course, given past traditions, the next game would likely give them models. Hopefully.

But it's silly the Champion is a still picture, yet Flare grunt #359 has a model.

Maybe GameFreak simply forgot idk why there are no Dark-type gym leaders. If they haven't forgotten, then there must be a reason why Dark-type is given the special treatment and reserved only for the Elites.

I love Viola, Clemont, Valerie and Wulfric to be honest. Viola's design is simple but cute, and Clemont looks really interesting. Valerie looks mysterious and Wulfric looks hot. I don't like the other four Gym Leaders though. Grant and Ramos look boring, and Olympia and Korrina are borderline dreadful in my honest opinion. I know Korrina is popular but I just can't stand her.

Well they're saving that for the third game. Otherwise, what is there to sell?

They did this too with DP with PT having moving sprites, then reverted it back to static sprites for BW, and then moving sprites in B2W2. So I'm not quite surprised this happened.
