SwSh Gyms Speculation Thread

I think the following types are a given for Gyms/Elite Four (In no particular order)

Grass
Steel
Dragon
Ice
Fairy
Ghost
Fire

I don't think standard Gym building trend is back. Each Gym should have a unique design like how they have been since Unova. Those studiums should represent something different.

I'm thinking that the tower will be an Electric-type Gym.

I think that the gym types (based on the map) will be Grass, Water, Steel, Dragon, Rock, Fairy, Electric, and Ice.

I don't think the stadiums around the map are necessarily gyms, they may be related to the stadium scene (with the player in sports gear) we saw near the end of the trailer.

I'm kind of excited for gyms returning though, having a gen off from them was refreshing but I'm glad to have them back.

I'd be about it if the gyms focused on the Weathers and Terrains. They'd still be primarily a single type but you could have cool stuff like Cacturne in Sandstorm (which would be the most diverse anyway) and Dry Skin Pokemon in the Rain gym. Haven't really given it too much thought but it could be a cool deviation from the norm without going too wild.

A Dark type Gym Leader would be nice. We never had one of those.

The Grass gym has the same symbol as the one on the player's soccer shirt. And the building looks like a stadium to me.

These are probably gyms with a soccer gimmick. There don't have to be 8 of them, either.

So far I can confirm base on the map that GRASS, FIRE, WATER AND ICE are CONFIRMED GYMS

If you look at the trailer the mat outside the grass gym is colored green then if you look at the map you could see a gym with a blue mat outside on the port city at the right then a gym with a red mat on the rocky city then there is a gym on the ice area which can confirm it is an ice type

The one on the mushroom town doesn't seems to have a mat shown outside but it is most likely a fairy type then there is a giant city with a wall of a dragon face which could indicate dragon. A gym could also be located on the Big Ben Clock but what type it could be could go lots of ways. That brings 7 out of 8 so the last one could be on the London like city so that could also go lots of ways

My guess on the other 4 are: Fairy, Steel, Dragon and Dark although lets face it Dark will not be a gym so it Could be Normal or Psychic

Based on what I can see right now, here is what I think.

• The first gym we seen right off the bat in the trailer seems to be a Grass type Gym. This is the in the city north of the city in the middle that seems to be based off of Edinburgh.
• North of the Grass gym seems to be what I think is either a Rock or Ground type gym.
• All the way to the east of the Grass Gym seems to be a port based city that I think would have a Water type Gym.
• There could be a Fairy type gym in the city that sits in the dense forest with all the mushrooms. Something about it screams Fairy over Poison.
• Near the snowy mountains and to the east seems to be another gym. Its beams look gray, so I wanna say Steel. Maaaaybe Ice.

I'm willing to bet that the Edinburgh like city south of the Grass gym city does have a gym also, but its more hidden. The city that seems to be based on London might have a Gym as well. There is a red stadium, though it looks different from the others. Either its a Fire type gym, or it could be a League. The city with the dragon head at the entrance and the crown tower might have a gym as well that's more hidden.

Grass is pretty much confirmed, the others are toss-ups, although we have good ideas what some of them are.

I'm pretty sure the football stadiums aren't gyms, since there's only 5 of them. Like some people said earlier, it's probably a side competion of sorts. It looks like they are battling in the stadium in the trailer though, so it's probably a battle oriented side challenge.

Yeah. I don't think that all of the gyms will be in the stadiums. I think that some of them will be in other buildings, like the tower in the London based city.

If the stadiums are in fact Gyms, I expect we’ll see some kind of regional variation on the traditional Gym Challenge. Like maybe there’s only 7 badges or so, and maybe the pitches are also used for soccer/football & that will somehow be tied to the Galar Gym Challenge tradition.

I would kind of like to see something like type themed battlefields that could maybe be used for both PokeSoccer & Gym Battles - like a water one, one with rock obstacles, etc.

On a different note, I wonder if there will be a Fire-type specialist modeled after chef Gordon Ramsay...

Grass is effectively confirmed, looking at the map it looks like there'll also be a Water gym, a Rock or Ground gym, an Ice gym, and a Psychic, Poison, or Ghost gym (I'm leaning towards the latter, we haven't had a Ghost gym since Fantina and it feels overdue).

Really hoping we finally get a Dark gym.
