Have you made any good friends? Here on the internet?

I saw the thread of the losing a friend, and thought i'd bring a lighter note to OtB.

Does anyone feel like they have made really good friends with anyone from the internet? Even better if they are from BMGf!

All of my good friends were made online. Unfortunately I'm awkward and weird so I don't get close to many and lose a sizable portion of those I do, but in spite of that I do have some good friends.

There's one who I often butt heads with cos he and I are completely different, but we've been there for one another for the past four years, and I don't see that changing any time soon. I have a friend who's drifted away a bit but who was my best friend for a while; we're still good friends I think, but I rarely hear from her now.

I have a couple of friends in the UK, too. We mostly talk about TWD, FF, or Pokémon, but the two of them are very understanding and reasonable and they tend to be very helpful when I need help. I try to repay that kindness myself. Also though, one of them gave me her spare copy of Watership Down just because and the other sent me a birthday gift. They're pretty great. :3

I have another friend from Texas who's a great guy, but we don't really talk a lot. I think he's more awkward than I am, so I just don't know how to respond to him sometimes.

There's a few others too, who are still around, but I don't hear from them much. I'm hoping to make some good friends here, too. :3

Oh my gosh soooo many.. some of my favorite people to talk to are from the internet, and I even met some of them here on Bulbagarden! To three specific Bulbagardeners: If you're reading this, you might know who you are! =P dolcewhitecrowandchibsteretc <3

I think most people are interesting really, and I'm extremely easy to get along with most of the time. I'm always open for any kind of conversation as long as it's appropriate so I've accumulated quite a lot of friends online. Chatting with people is one of my biggest hobbies!

Yeah I've made some pretty cool friends online, some are here and majority of them are on Twitter and some other forums I frequent. I can make friends easier online than I do offline, I feel more relaxed when I'm talking to others online and I don't feel as awkward either. I have a really close friend on another forum and he is really funny, when I chat with him I instantly feel happier than I usually do, it also helps that we have similar interests and hobbies so maybe that's why we connect so well. Anyways, I hope to still make some great friends through the internet.

No, I have no friends in real life or internet. I have trouble socializing and communicating due to Asperger Syndrome.

I had some good friends on deviantArt before I deactivated my account, but that's it really. I have trouble talking to people online (and in real life) thanks to my anxiety and whatnot, mostly because I think everyone is judging me or hates me/finds me irritating in some way. This is why I'm just a lurker on most other sites (reddit for example). IDK it's hard to explain.

Most of my friends are online, actually. I'm pretty bad at socialising irl so for now online is the only way I can realistically make friends

Most of my "internet friends" are people who I met IRL and then they or I moved away. I did meet some pretty good friends online but I'm generally not that interested in dealing with people. Soooooo not a people-person. :p To the extent that one of my first jobs (IT) my boss would send the client away while I did my job. :ROFLMAO: (plus, as anyone who's worked IT knows, clients are a pain in the arse under most circumstances. My boss was brilliant ^^ )

Basically if I make more friends, cool, if not, that's also cool. I like my life the way it is and don't really feel the need to seek out more friends, although if people want to be my friend I'm not gonna bitch at them til they leave either. This is the same whether it's online or IRL.

Yes I have. I made a few I talk to fairly often and some I only occasionally talk to but they are better friends than Ive had offline who have all left me eventually. I guess its just easier to talk and connect with people online. Im socially awkward a lot in real life and online its just much easier to find the right words when talking to someone. I cant see myself really having many offline friends because of this but thats ok I guess Ive kind of accepted it by now. I like having online friends so whatever.

I find it harder to make friends online than irl =\ not that I haven't tried but things like timezones and real life have made it difficult to keep in touch.. Back in the day when I was active on ff.net i had a few really good friends but everything changed when the uni attacked

I've made many good friends both online and in real life, most of whom I still remain in contact with and cherish to this day. In fact, many of my best friends happen to be online, and I only met one of them in person, and that was five years ago, yet we still make contact. Since I'm autistic, it's hard for me to really make friends since I'm awkward and introverted, but the friends I do make, I cherish with my whole heart.

No not really, I find it more difficult to make friends offline than online. I don't think I can really be a friend for someone online. I would react late to messages or I couldn't find the time to talk with them. Different time zones are also an issue, but minor ones

I used to have friends irl when I was a kid. Now I'm socially awkward in both rl and online but still have some online friends I talked to in games and other sites. I did made a friend here recently (you know who you are) and he great to talk to. :D

After I moved away from my hometown, I had to leave all my IRL friends and due to difference in internet connections/schedules/etc, I ended up drifting apart from most of them. I made more friends on the internet and let me tell you, were it not for them, I'd be a much lonelier and depressed person.

Also I actually met my girlfriend online too. 8)

I used to make a lot of enemies online, which I found amusing at one point in my life.

Since coming here, though, I've made a lot of good friends and interacted with and met people that I would not have met IRL. There are a lot of quality people in the world, and the Internet can help connect the planet...or it can be used to end the world in massive Flame Wars. One or the other.

Why not both?

Either way I have made some friebds online and irl. I don't really have extremely good friends online but my best friends irl are pretty cool.
