"Heroes of Yewer, Queensfall"
~Reasons, Future of Yewer and Quarks~
The reason for The Story of Yewer is to gradually build and modify a story from several angels. Varying writing styles, moods and atmosphere are meant to be explored. With that said I will eventually convert this into a novel at some point, but to avoid copy write issues any reference to "Pokemon" would have to be removed. Though, at the moment the variety of animals in the Pokemon world make for a good character template. This will currently be the second part of the three part miniseries.
On the quirkier side, there is no "out of character" in this story. Well, there is and you are encouraged to add OOC commentary, just be aware that what you say is still a part of the story. This is due to the fact that my character Tregrenos has narrative liberties. I still retain OOC narrative, but since "The Beast" merged with my alter-ego during the first part of the miniseries, forming into the reborn Tregrenos, he has become a separate poster. Though his story-form will be oblivious to OOC and remain unaware of the future just know that his narrative persona already knows how the story is supposed to play out, that he already exists in this world, that he's trying to control your actions and that he'd like to get to know you better.
On a personal note, "RP" in itself is an unattainable goal, for regardless of how elaborate the lie we are incapable of being who we are not. Who we are shines through our characters as easily as one speaking through a paper mask. With Hu-Mon being a factor this mask is removed, allowing you a viable method of putting yourself into the story without the ruse of trying to be something you're not. Regardless of your faction choice just be aware that it is you that makes the story, not the characters you're pretending to be.
I have several possible endings in mind and they're always changing. How will you impact the land of Yewer?
~Why Pokemon?~
Consider this a formality. While the various animals make a fantastic template to base a character from its more important to represent "who" someone is, not "what" they are. "What" you are determines what you're capable of and where you most likely live, but "who" you are is what makes the story. "Who" you are determines how you utilize "what" you are.

NOTE: Though this is a sign up form you are not required to fill it out. The story is designed to readily accept new posters at any time, even if it's just a single post or even OOC commentary which Tregrenos will address. To adapt to new situations, to challenge yourself and others, that is the heart of this story.

~Heroes of Yewer~
In the distant reality of Foran something went horribly wrong. Tregrenos, the "Missing One", intended to utilize Meloetta to open a portal between worlds. Her Relic Song, complimented by his mechanical knowledge and ability to warp reality around him, would allow Tregrenos to escape into the reality he saw in his visions. A world of humanoid creatures that he somehow knew of, our world. However, the Lucario Conner, Smeargle Tsaikogen and Haunchkrow Trainor would thwart these plans in an effort to save Meloetta and put an end to the monster who'd committed so many heinous crimes.
Though it was appearant that nothing they could do to the unpredictable Tregrenos could stop him Tsaikogen, who for a brief moment had entered the very mind of Tregrenos and seen his plans in full, used the last of his strength to strike Meloetta down. The halting of the song ceased the opening of the portal, but Tregrenos offered one last surprise. He gave his heart, his existence, to save Meloetta. Though not part of his origional plan Tregrenos intended to take Meloetta with him, having developed feelings for her during her captivity. The transfer was a success, Meloetta lived once again while Tregrenos faded from existence, but his tainted heart only served to corrupt Meloetta. With the corruption came a rapid madness that overtook the legendary. Her corrupted Relic Song echoed once again, reopening the portal between worlds, but the course had been thrown off. The portal instead lead her to Yewer and the chaotic energies of the portal began pulling in beings across the multiverse to Yewer where they would be transformed into Pokemon for reasons unknown.
Now, it is up to several factions. Foreigners surviving, seeking a way to return home. Natives who have been impacted by the Foreign presence who either seek to eliminate them or to find answers as to why these unnatural beings exist in their world. What role will you play in this raising conflict? Can you, the narrator, decipher the direction of the story? Will you attempt to derail or control the flow of the story? Will you survive?
Tregrenos: "Care to join me?"

~The World~
Yewer is an island nation with various climates to accommodate the beings living there. Climate plays a distinctive role in the use of powers and abilities. If you breath fire at someone the attack will be stronger in a warm environment. Abilities that do not require an element, such as Psychic attacks, cause a great deal of strain on the one utilizing them. Furthermore, abilities which can alter the climate do not exist. You can't use Sunny Day in a dark cave, but that's not to say you can't be creative in methods of boosting the power of your abilities, such as lighting yourself on fire or gradually freezing the area to drop the temperature.
In the world if Yewer the inhabitants have developed an "eat or be eaten" mentality. There are no berries like in the game or anime, though there is some flora and fauna you'd be able to find in this world. There are various birds, fish and insect which make up the lower food chain as well as a host of edible nuts, berries, fruit and vegetables.
Notable abnormal environments include a magnetized, broken mountain range to the north with levitating stones, a radioactive area to the center most mountain in Yewer that no being dares to enter, and a vast network of underground rivers that connect to a large underground lake. The underground lake is illuminated by a fluorescent fungi that is found in only one above-ground area. This area is a swamp and the only named location, "Ghostlands", where Ghost-Types tend to dwell. The spirits of the diciest are believed to be drawn to this place, but a Ghost-Type Pokemon is still considered a living being. They are born as a Ghost-Type and can die as a Ghost-Type.
Aside from the radioactive zone where not even Ghost-Types can safely enter anybody who writes about these other lands before I do will have creative liberty as to what these varying environments are like.

~Factions~
* There is no language barrier. It would seem that all creatures of this world, Native or Foreign, all hear the language they are accostomed to. It's only when a bilingual person tries to speak in a different language that their words seem to form natural animalistic noises based on their species. At least, that is what those around them would hear.
Foreigners
Natives
Ecosystem
Foreigners
* The timeline of Yewer is not in line with that of other realities. Though all Foreigners were pulled into Yewer at the same time the time in which they arrived varies. New Foreigners can be arriving sometime in Yewers future, yet there are also those Foreigners who have lived in Yewer for years.
Hu-Mon
Shade
Hu-Mon
Hu-Mon are humans from this world who have been pulled into the land of Yewer. The term Hu-Mon is generally used by Natives and some Shade for not understanding what a human is. Though both Shade and Hu-Mon cause an instinctual hatered from the Natives of Yewer it is Hu-Mon who send even the most stalwart of spirit are sent into a blind rage. What creature the human becomes represents who they are inside.
* The human in question doesn't have to be you and can be totally made up. However, in Yewer these characters all have the history of being from the real world. Will you send someone in your place or are you prepared to see how deep the rabbit hole goes?
* The human in question doesn't have to be you and can be totally made up. However, in Yewer these characters all have the history of being from the real world. Will you send someone in your place or are you prepared to see how deep the rabbit hole goes?
Example: The character 'B' was me. His actions were how I'd imagine reacting to Yewer and all the craziness therein.
R.I.P. B...
Shade
Shades are beings of fiction, alternate realities conceived by the human mind that have been pulled from their fictional world into the land of Yewer. Regardless of whether or not these beings were Pokemon to begin with they still cause an instinctual hatred from the Natives. However, since they weren't real to begin with the instinctual hatred can be managed by a strong willed Native in the vicinity of a Shade. Like humans, Shades, if they weren't Pokemon to begin with, are turned into the creature which best represents who they are inside.
* The Shade is most likely unaware that their respective worlds aren't real. To them, they're as real as any Hu-Mon. This makes understanding the instinctual hatred of Natives all the more difficult.
* The Shade is most likely unaware that their respective worlds aren't real. To them, they're as real as any Hu-Mon. This makes understanding the instinctual hatred of Natives all the more difficult.
Example: Tregrenos is a being of my own creation. Desidre is a character who gradually realized her world was that of a fairy tale. Vicehied and Escavias are both from the Pokemon anime world. All these things classify them as Shades. Tregrenos is still a wild card though due to being part Hu-Mon...
Natives
Natives are generally emotionless beings who rely on instinct to survive within a world of natural law. They do not "evolve", but rather they grow over time between phases. They rely heavily on their environment and follow a strict law of nature. Should a species try to overstep its set boundaries, to break the natural law and grow as a species to overtake another, the legendaries will step in to "correct" this behavior.
However, so long have the Natives lived under these rules that they have become complacent. The introduction of this instinctual hatred toward Foreigners is new and confusing. The rage which takes over relies neither on sight nor smell, but rather vicinity. If they are near a Hu-Mon they instantly lose reason and can't stop until the Foreign presence is removed. However, for some reason this hatred isn't as potent around Shade.
There will be Natives who try to avoid Foreigners, choosing not to get too close and even working out territorial areas to avoid. There will be those who actively hunt the Foreigners, seeing the instinctual hatred as a sign of imbalance that must be cleansed from the world. Lastly, there will be those who seek answers. The later will most likely be Sages who opt to set aside the natural law for the betterment of the world.
Though Natives are Pokemon this world has caused them to adapt in new ways. Each species comes in a variety of builds and colors depending on the environment they've adapted to. This means the appearance of Natives can be as widely different as the 'Unsealed' listed below. From natural colors and stripes, to bits of tools and crude clothing, to hair colored artificially by plants. Don't limit yourself to the base design!
* If you were a Native, how would you react to these beings? Would you see them as invaders or will you seek a higher calling to deal with the obvious threat? Will you acknowledge the instinctual hatred as a just reason to kill off the Foreigners or do you see it as being unnatural and not a fault of the Foriegners?

Man-made Pokemon are not an option for Natives.
Ecosystem
Natives have varying lifestyles depending on their species, diet, climate and availability of food and water. Some species are social, others secluded or reclusive. Social creatures can range from a large herd of a variety of species to something as small as a tribal family composed of several similar species. Carnivores which rely on group efforts to hunt tend to stick to a family pack, willing to fight others of their own kind for territory. Solitary hunters may live in the general area of their species, but tend to keep to themselves and their immediate family. Though some species may adopt tools and lightly constructed housing the majority live off the land and their own natural abilities. To become too advanced would alter the way of life for everyone, after which would result in the Legendaries intervening to reset the balance. Unlike Foreigners who may appear rather plain looking the Natives have adopted different colors and builds depending on their environments
Foreigners, however, take from the traits of the world they left behind. Appearing randomly across the landscape Foreigners start an often short-lived solitary lifestyle. Those who adapt quickly to the situation will eventually be compelled to seek other Foreigners. Though Foreigners lack whatever drives the Natives crazy around them they do possess a type of sixth sense which will lead them to nearby groups of Foreigners. The larger the group the easier it is for solitary Foreigners to find it. Due to the unexplained hatred Legendaries avoid Foreigners. Though Foreigners can become a member of virtually any species, if they weren't a Pokemon already, there have been no Foreigners to take the form of a Legendary.

I'll go into what this sixth sense Foreigners have if there are several other authors within the story. If not, it can be skipped because the reason would otherwise have no meaning.
~Unique Factions~
* These categories still fall under the faction list above, but due to their unique nature they may fall under their own faction, either accepted or hated by all. These Unique Factions may be a starting point, forgoing the process of changing your character mid-story. The guidelines to becoming one of these factions are only for those who may wish to transform mid-story. Note that none of these Factions necessarily make your character stronger and are meant to add flavor to the story.
Unsealed
Corrupted
Torment
Hybrid
Legendaries
Unsealed
Unsealed are similar to Mega Evolution, but the change is permanent and is not limited by the hosts apparent form. This means a Ratatta has as much a chance of being Unsealed as a Raticate. The process of becoming an Unsealed varies, but is generally a transformation on a very personal level and meant to offer the best means of survival. Only Foreigners may Unseal on their own, but for a Native to Unseal they must first come in contact with a Corrupted or source of Corruption.
Unsealing is like a "correction" the land itself is trying to make where the hosts current form is deemed "unfitting", so they undergo the correction through a type of personality test. This test is like a trance where the host is put through a dream-like scenario where anything can happen. There is also the option of being fully awake and the unsealing test is judged based on how the individual reacts to a real situation.

Corrupted
These are beings who have developed a disease that can only be caught by coming in contact with a Corrupted or a source of Corruption, such as the stone blooms that dot the landscape from "The Beasts" rampage across Yewer. Corruption can either spread quickly or slowly throughout the host depending on their bodies natural defenses.
The Corruption spreads along the skin, turning the infected area black regardless of skin type, and will spread at a slower pace toward the inside. The Corrupted area becomes mutagenic, changing aspects of the host in a similar, all be it painful comparison to the changes seen in Unsealing. Eventually, the Corruption will spread to the brain, causing dementia and eventually total madness.
The only method of halting the spread of Corruption is to amputate the infected area. There is a cure, but depending on how far the story has progressed that cure may not be available yet.

Torment
Torments, or "Dead Ones" as most inhabitants of Yewer have come to call them, are partially modified through clockwork and weaponized enhancements. The original Torments were called so because the only word they could say was "Torment". This was an intentional design by Tregrenos who intended the mechanized creations to cause fear.
Tregrenos's original design left little organic components of the previous host and, aside from the grotesque addition of the hosts prior face, the machines were very clean and well preserved. The host maintained a living mind, but their actions were dictated by the mechanical components. The machine-portion of their body was fully functional upon completion, but due to personal beliefs Tregrenos would not unleash them without an organic mind. Tregrenos wanted the host to suffer so that anybody who may try and mentally or spiritually connect or sense these beings will know their pain.
The Torments of Yewer, however, are not of Tregrenos's design. Meloetta, having been Corrupted by Tregrenos back in the land of Foran, has developed her own method of creation within the technologically lacking land if Yewer. The mechanical portion is clockwork and steam-driven, not electrical. The mind if the host has also been tampered with, a type of mind-control. The original body is left relatively intact, though plated with steel bits and modified weaponry. Though the body is essentially dead the mind is kept alive through unknown means. Furthermore, they are all Natives and sometimes a Shade. There have been no known Hu-Mon Torments, presumably, to those in-the-know, because Meloetta used captured Hu-Mon in her experiments with "The Beast". It's possible that there are captured Hu-Mon, Natives and Shade who have yet to be modified and held prisoner until the day they are.

* Note: For this faction to be playable the character in question must either be under Meloettas mental control or to have awoken from its mental trance at the time of Tregrenos's rebirth in Yewer. This awakening is only possible due to Meloettas lack of focus during this moment.
While normal Legendaries aren't meant to be a main character a Legendary that has been turned into a Torment is. If the Legendary Torment dies they may be reborn, but the reborn Legendary is no longer a main character.
Hybrid
Its possible to be more than one of these Factions. To an extreme it's possible to be an Unsealed, Corrupted Torment. Among my characters Tregrenos counts as both Unsealed and Corrupted, so the possibilities are quite customizable.
Legendaries
The Legendaries fear both the Foran Meloetta and the corruption. To die is to be reborn, so the Legendaries do not fear death. They are reborn among a species very similar to their own, though it is no single species that births a particular Legendary. However, what these two factors do is beyond the freedom of death. The first and only Legendary of Yewer to face the Foran Meloetta, Rayquaza, was turned into a mechanical monstrosity under her control. It wasn't until "The Beast" faced Meloetta atop its back that Rayquaza was offered enough will to use several indirect Hyper Beams in an attempt to weaken itself. It luckily met its end at the hands of "The Beast" during the attack and was thus reborn into a clutch of Snivy.
Note: The Legendaries are considered a group used to add flavor to the story, yet are not considered fully controllable by the writer. You can write for them in terms of interaction or for future story relevance, but may not consider one of them as a main character. The only exception to this is the Foran Meloetta who already has a large role to play in the story.
For a Legendary to qualify as a main character see the Torment rules above.
~Character Description~
* Remember, it is not a requirement to post a character description. This form is only for listing a character you want to go into detail about. Whether you just want to cement your characters existence within the story, want to give an easily accessible reference to a particular character or simply wish to do so out of courtesy to forum tradition. You may list what you want, but this is an example you may utilize.

~Roles and Story Progression~
* Though the story is open to writing whatever you want here are a few themes I'll be using that can incorporate others who wish to start off following the story or gradually build toward.
Queensfall: Meloetta has posed a threat to this world. The Legendaries fear her for her ability to twist the minds and bodies of those brought to any of her horrible factories dotting the land of Yewer. She is the enemy of Native and Foreigner alike and may be the key to everyone returning home.
Call of The Sage: With the influence of the hatred that overcomes Natives there have been those who have been "awakened". This enlightenment, controlled aggression or fear for their very world has lead to the adaption of more "Sages" among the Natives as well as the older Sages becoming more active. To set aside the natural law and seek greater answers, that is the way of the Sage.
Descent into Madness: The process of being Corrupted can either be quick or slow. How would you deal with a character gradually losing their identity to this mutagenic disease?
Reasurection: Meloettas Torments, "Dead Ones" to most, have had a moment of clarity at the time of Tregrenos' revival. How would you handle waking up to see your body eaten away by wrot and patched with crude metallic plating? Would you even know who you were before or would you seek to start a new life? Will you be driven by fear or vengeance?
Survive: Are you a Foreigner or a Native just trying to survive in this dimming world? How are you surviving? Do you seek to work with others or do you prefer to keep to yourself?

~RISK and CHALLENGE~
During a post the author may initiate a RISK. This allows someone else to effect the authors story direction. The author does lay some guidelines to adhere to the RISK but must leave enough variable room for error, otherwise there is no point in calling it. This is to add an unpredictable factor to the authors story.
Furthermore, in response to a RISK the author answering the call may initiate a CHALLENGE. The CHALLENGE is like a COUNTER-RISK in that those whom respond may set alternative guidelines to the one calling a RISK. Perhaps the challenger sees opportunity that the risky author may not have thought of that might add a deeper level to the story. Perhaps the challenger wishes to alter the fate of a character where they feel strongly enough to warrant seeing something happen to them. Perhaps the challenger is just being a troll and wants to see if the risky author can take on the CHALLENGE.
Regardless of the situation, respect the call and the answer. Before initiating a RISK it is important that the author has enough control over the story and foresight into possible outcomes to not regret their decision.

I've utilized RISK in the past through a voting process outside of the story. Should there be too few authors within the story I will continue this practice. These guidelines are in regard to their being several authors.
