Hey there! This is my BulbaBlog for my personal headcanons for the Pokémon world, its people, and its Pokémon. I usually do them of characters/topics that interest me, though I do open requests from time to time.

    Other rules and stuff:
-Check this post to see request status.
-I ask that you keep character requests/ship requests to three at a time (for requests like this where you request a character/ship, I'll come up with 20 assorted headcanons). If it's a simple question (ex. what kind of coffee do all of the Gym Leaders like?, Every Champion's favorite music genre?, ex) I can probably do more than three characters (as long as it's not, like, every character ever lol. I could do all the League members, though.)
    - For region requests (20 headcanons for a region), keep it to one region at a time. (If you ask a question like "how does each region do X?", I can do every main series region and possibly spin off regions)
-I do ships and stuff, so long as it's not incest/pedophilia/abuse/you get the idea
-Some headcanons may lean toward more serious topics related to things like mental health (a lot of times, I self project on/use headcanons for characters I'm attached to as a coping mechanism), but I'll mark things with content warnings as needed.
-Don't have a character in mind? I'm open to questions about Pokémon/the world/history/certain regions and cities/etc.
-I occasionally do pride/LGBTQ+/sexuality and gender headcanons
-I also do "characters as [insert thing] quotes"/incorrect quotes
-Please know that I'm only human and have responsibilities/a life outside of this thread, so requests and responds might not come immediately. That being said, when requests are open, feel free to request characters/topics!

    Requests for characters/questions are: Closed!

I'll start with my headcanons for Champion Steven Stone, in the form of... 20 Questions!!!

I'll start with my headcanons for Champion Steven Stone, in the form of... 20 Questions!!!

    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?
Steven likes slow jazz and classical music, but he also secretly loves rock/surf music a la The Beach Boys.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
Looking for rocks with his dad for the first time when he was maybe four or five. Joseph Stone was busy with work throughout Steven's childhood, so Steven savors moments like this.

    3. What makes them worry?
He worries a lot about being a good Champion, his friends getting hurt, spiders getting into his house...

    4. What do they do in their free time?
He goes rock hunting, reads about rocks, organizes his rocks, talks to people about rocks... fine fine fine, he does things unrelated to rocks, like talking to his friends about other things, training with his Pokémon, etc.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Steven is on the introverted side and doesn't like initiating conversations or friendships, but once you become his close friend, you two will be bestest buddies. Social gatherings with large amounts of people can be really draining for Steven, but get togethers of five or so close friends are okay.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
Rocks, except he feels no shame for it.

    7. What do they think of children?
Steven wants to be a father, but he can't have children, so he compensates by being the dad friend of his friend circles. He's Roxanne's unofficial legal guardian.

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
    Nonfiction.

    9. What are their bad habits?
Forgetting to eat and take care of himself. He also easily gets distracted by rocks during important business meetings.

    10. What sports do they do?
    Rock hunting/hiking

    11. Coffee or tea?
Steven drinks a lot of coffee (Glacia has to make sure he only has two caffeinated cups a day), but he'll drink tea if it's given to him.

    12. Night or day?
Steven doesn't really have a sense of time. It could be two in the morning and he wouldn't know. Wallace got him a watch to stay on track, but Steven forgets to wear it.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
    Anything involving rock hunting.

    14. How easily do they cry?
Steven only cries around certain people (Wallace, Glacia, Drake), but he cries somewhat easily.

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
Steven lives in Hoenn, so he's used to heat. Over time, he also got used to extreme cold because of all the time he spends in caves.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
Surprisingly, Steven isn't on social media. His PR team suggested they make him an account on Dragon Net (the biggest social media platform in the Pokémon world), but Steven declined.

    17. How good are they with technology?
Really good, being heir to the Devon Corporation. For better or worse, this leads to his friends asking him for tech support. (He's like the tech support guy in that Nintendo Customer Service training video)

    18. Who are/were their role models?
Drake was the Hoenn Champion for much of Steven's childhood, and Steven took the title from him. Drake served as Steven's mentor when Steven became the Champion.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
Steven's demisexual, but among his partners, he does his best to be a good SO. He's romantic, but he's neither good nor confident with it. He says stuff like "gee you're uh really pretty today" and compare his SO to pretty rocks he likes. His ideal partner would also be interested in rocks or at least listen to him talk about them.

    20. Do they get along with others?
Steven gets along pretty well with others. Being an important business man, he knows how to talk to people and avoid and diffuse confrontation.

Oh yes, sometimes I headcanon that there are animals in the pokémon world, but they're critically endangered creatures and there are very few of them, and also that they're quite ignored by humans.

That's a pretty interesting headcanon! I feel like animals are pretty rare in the Pokémon world and have quite the competition to deal with.

If you give me the freedom to tell you my favorites I'll end up naming more than twenty :ROFLMAO:. Cilan, Lt. Surge, Erika and Nanu if you can, please.

Also ahhh Erika is my favorite Kanto Gym Leader! You chose well! I'll do the twenty questions for each character, but that may take some time, so I'll list some random headcanons here:

-Cilan collects those little bottles of herbs that you can find at the grocery store. Sometimes he uses them, but he just likes how the bottles looked lined up on a shelf.

-Lt. Surge makes really good barbecue food.

-Erika is from a pretty wealthy and influential Kantonian family (she has maids in the TCG and so I was like "hey what if she had like a manor or something"). She doesn't really think much about it.

-Nanu does favors for the other Trial Captains/Kahunas in exchange for these little Meowth toys that are popular in Alola and Kanto (I guess they're similar to those Shopkins toys and other surprise collectable toys).

    Education in the Pokémon World

Kids ages 5-10 are required to go to school, although many kids ages 3-5 go to preschool. Most kids ages 10-13 also attend middle school, and most kids ages 14-18 attend high school. Although many kids become Pokémon trainers by this point, a growing number of students are attending college and trade school.
Kids who go off to be trainers (“Trainer’s Leave”) are always welcome to return to school. Some kids even continue education as they travel to become trainers (like those of the Preschooler and Schoolkid trainer classes). Trainer’s Schools primarily focus on Pokémon and battling, though they teach subjects beyond that.
At elementary grade levels, students learn basic subjects like language arts, math, social studies, and science. Basics about Pokémon are also taught. Galarian has become part of compulsory education in Japanese regions, and Japanese is becoming more common in schools in other regions. In middle school, students expand upon these subjects, in addition to learning a language other than Galarian or Japanese.

    • Kanto students have some of the highest grades in the Pokémon world, although they’re five times more likely to drop out and join crime gangs. Cram schools are extremely common.
    • Johto’s education is comparable to Kanto’s, although they have far more art schools. While college students in Kanto are more likely to major in science, math, and engineering fields, college students in Johto are more likely to major in art, literature, and history fields.
    • Hoenn has the highest number of college graduates out of any Kantonian region, but things like apprenticeships are certainly still a thing, especially the Grande Archipelago and especially in Sootopolis City. Business and science majors are very common.
    • Sinnoh has a rapidly increasing number of students, foreign exchange and not, studying mythology and theology, although technology and engineering are also popular. There are also many online class courses trainers take on their Pokétech.
    • Unova’s biggest majors include social sciences, psychology, and philosophy. Teaching degrees are very popular.
    • Kalos has many private and religious schools. Schools of the arts are very common, in addition to exchange programs (Blue went on one of these exchange programs in college).
    • Alola has a strong focus on Pokémon studies and Pokémon battles. Both the traditions of Alola and the innovations of the modern world are studied.
    • Galar emphasizes sports and extracurricular activities a lot. Students from all over the world compete to study at Hammerlocke University. STEM subjects are pretty common for majors.

    Cilan|Lt. Surge|Erika|Nanu 20 headcanons
  • Cilan, Lt. Surge, Erika and Nanu if you can, please.

CW for implied PTSD (Lt. Surge and Nanu) (It's mostly subtext but just to be on the safe side I'll put this here.)

    Cilan

    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?
He’s a basic boy and plays the violin. He likes classical music, but so do Cress and Chili, so Cilan says he specifically likes marches.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
A vague memory of taking a first day of school picture with his brothers. They were all in matching outfits.

    3. What makes them worry?
Cilan has to grapple a lot with both wanting to stand out among his brothers while also not being completely separated from them. He also worries when he doesn’t have answers to problems or questions. It makes him feel like he’s out of control.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
    Cooking, reading, playing violin

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Cilan is an ambivert, while his brothers Chili and Cress are, respectively, extroverted and introverted.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
He likes the smell of rosemary a whole lot.

    7. What do they think of children?
    He thinks they’re pretty great.

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
    Mystery.

    9. What are their bad habits?
He sometimes blanks out when he needs to speak, especially in front of a crowd. He’ll sometimes then act like he knows what he’s talking about and it’s uhhhh hit or miss.

    10. What sports do they do?
He was on the track team in middle school for one (1) meeting.

    11. Coffee or tea?
He drinks a cup of coffee every morning, but he much prefers tea.

    12. Night or day?
    Leans towards day.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
Getting his starter Pokémon along with his brothers.

    14. How easily do they cry?
Not easily, but there are times when he’s a blubbering mess eating tubs of ice cream.

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
He doesn’t react to either too well, but he manages with the right clothes.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
He has a Dragon Net account where he posts cooking/Grass type related pictures. He’s got an average following for a Gym Leader.

    17. How good are they with technology?
He’s good with cooking technology. He’s a master of the Poké Bake Oven.

    18. Who are/were their role models?
His brothers, famous Pokémon Conessiours, and Alder (Alder is a role model for pretty much everyone in Unova).

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
He’s a gentleman around his SO. He seeks a polite partner with whom he can engage in long, intriguing conversations.

    20. Do they get along with others?
He gets along with others pretty easily.

    Lt. Surge

    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?
He likes 90s rock. When Lt. Surge moved to Kanto, Brock introduced him to several Kantonian rock bands that quickly became favorites. Surge played saxophone in school at some point.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
His Raichu (then Pichu) hatching. The two have been inseparable since.

    3. What makes them worry?
Lt. Surge is constantly somewhat paranoid, but he’s usually able to keep a brave face.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
Training and jogging are big ones, but he’s taken up meditation recently.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Extroverted. He’s confident, perhaps overconfident, and he always speaks his mind.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
    Low budget movies.

    7. What do they think of children?
He has a daughter and son, and he always signs up as chaperone for their field trips. Other than his kids, he thinks kids are weak, though he somehow finds himself serving as a mentor figure (Think the G.I. Joe cartoon from the 80s. Actually I haven’t watched it other than the “now we know” “and knowing is half the battle”, but that’s the energy I’m thinking of).

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
    Paperback adventure novels.

    9. What are their bad habits?
He has a bit of a temper. He's getting better and better at controlling it, though. He also yells a lot when he's pumped up.

    10. What sports do they do?
American (Unovan? Alolan? I’m just going to say American) football and track and field.

    11. Coffee or tea?
He was impartial at first, but he’s slowly leaning towards tea.

    12. Night or day?
    Strong lean to day.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
His Pikachu evolving into a Raichu. It was in the middle of a major battle, and it brought a surge of energy and hope to Surge.

    14. How easily do they cry?
He sheds a single tear when he’s really proud.

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
He can pull through either of them pretty well.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
He has a Pokébook (Facebook but Pokémon yes I know how creative I am), where he reposts Gym Leader memes from Volkner’s Dragon Net account (with Volkner’s permission, of course). Also wholesome memes about how he loves his wife.

    17. How good are they with technology?
He’s good with plane technology. He can take apart and put together a plane. He can also use the World Wide Web.

    18. Who are/were their role models?
His fellow soldiers always inspired him.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
He gets really soft around his wife. He acts almost like a completely different person around her.

    20. Do they get along with others?
He can be a little brash at first, but earn his respect and he’ll be a friend who will protect you to the end.

    Erika

    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?
She likes anything calm and relaxing (anything she could sleep to). She plays the koto.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
Erika isn’t good at remembering things, but she does have a vague memory of chasing an Oddish in the garden.

    3. What makes them worry?
Erika isn’t too much of a worrier, though she does worry about keeping her Gym Trainers and Pokémon safe and keeping her Gym tidy.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
She sleeps a lot, but when she’s not sleeping, she’s probably arranging flowers, teaching at universities, gossiping, practicing kyūdō, or styling and bathing her Pokémon.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Erika is pretty introverted, and it doesn’t help that she was sheltered for much of her life. Don’t get me wrong, she knows how to talk to people, but because she’s not used to it, she prefers to spend time alone or with her Pokémon.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
Romance novels. She loves stories about royalty falling in love and eloping in the countryside.

    7. What do they think of children?
As long as they’re not stepping on her plants, she’s fine with them. In fact, she loves teaching younger and older kids alike about plants.

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
    Romance

    9. What are their bad habits?
Dozing off and getting distracted during conversations.

    10. What sports do they do?
Kyūdō (Japanese martial art of archery)

    11. Coffee or tea?
Uncited sources say that coffee + Erika = disaster, but no one wants to confirm these sources. It doesn’t really matter, because Erika strongly prefers tea.

    12. Night or day?
Day, surprisingly. Erika says that the flowers look prettier in sunlight, and they need it to grow. She also prefers sleeping in sunlight instead of darkness.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
When she won her first flower arrangement contest with her Vileplume.

    14. How easily do they cry?
It really depends. Sometimes she cries just from finishing a romance novel, but other times she can get in a big battle with Team Rocket without much emotional expression.

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
She likes hot weather but hates colder weather. It’s bad for the plants. And cold.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
She posts aesthetic flower arrangements on Dragon Net. She’s amassed quite a following.

    17. How good are they with technology?
Decent, I guess. Her dad works for Silph Co. (this is canon in the Pocket Monsters manga so I was like “yes this is good stuff”), but since she has an older brother who will probably inherit the company, she never cared much about technology.

    18. Who are/were their role models?
The Kimono Girls and the previous Celadon Gym Leader, the latter of whom mentored Erika.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
Erika gives her SO flowers with romantic symbolism, even going so far as to make elaborate flower arrangements. She values someone who’s gentle, kind, and loyal.

    20. Do they get along with others?
For the most part, yes, though she won’t tolerate people who don’t like Grass types.

    Nanu

    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?
Awkward elevator music. He vibes to it unironically.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
His family getting a Meowth when he was a young lad. It was the start of something wonderful.

    3. What makes them worry?
He doesn’t like showing fear, but he worries when crime spikes in Alola. If someone he’s close to gets caught up in crime fighting, he worries they’ll get hurt. He’s always been generally worried about his comrades ever since the death of the Faller on his Guzzlord mission.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
He stares at the wall, slowly petting his cat.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
He doesn’t like talking to people much, and he really doesn’t like social gatherings.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
Whatever the Pokémon equivalent of Cats is. “The musical or the movie adaptation?” Yes.

    7. What do they think of children?
    He thinks they’re swell.

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
Nanu doesn’t read much, but when he does, it’s usually a mystery novel.

    9. What are their bad habits?
He forgets to sleep a lot. Don’t ask how, he just does.

    10. What sports do they do?
He’s recently taken up tennis, and Kahili is trying to convince him (and all of the Trial Captains and Kahunas) to try golf.

    11. Coffee or tea?
Coffee doesn’t make him hyper, but it does help him stay up, and he likes the taste of it more than the taste of tea.

    12. Night or day?
Night. He’s a Dark type trainer, after all.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
After his failed Guzzlord mission, Nanu was pretty down. His Persian saw how sad he was, so he spent the night watching movies with Nanu. It was a small thing after a tragic event, but Nanu really appreciated it.

    14. How easily do they cry?
No one has seen him cry, but he might around his Meowths.

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
He’s used to both heat and cold, but he prefers cooler temperatures.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
He doesn’t know what a social media is.

    17. How good are they with technology?
He can use a computer and a phone pretty well. He keeps the instruction manuals and reads through them sometimes.

    18. Who are/were their role models?
While Nanu may not want to be in the Elite Four, he appreciates Kukui’s work. He also looks up to Looker.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
Nanu doesn’t think of romance too often, though he’s still sort of open to the idea of it. He wouldn’t be too picky about an ideal partner, maybe someone who’s laid back.

    20. Do they get along with others?
Nanu doesn’t get angered easily, and he can talk to others just fine. It would take a lot for him to get mad at a person and not get along with them.

    Lana|Fantina|Valerie|Cheren|Morty 20 headcanons
  • And for the characters, Lana, Fantina, Valerie, Cheren and Morty please, I like so many characters that I had to restrain myself from naming .

    Lana
    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?
She likes anything that’s mellow, though she also loves singing along to pop hits. She wants to learn an instrument, but she doesn’t know which one.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
A fishing trip with her dad. He didn’t catch anything, but the two still had a lot of fun looking at the Water type Pokémon.

    3. What makes them worry?
She worries about being a good big sister, a good trial captain, and a good fisher. She’s also insecure about her height.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
Fishing, decorating her room, drawing, and hanging out with her friends.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Slight lean towards introverted. She needs her space sometimes, but she’s always happy to spend time with her friends.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
    Rom coms and pop songs.

    7. What do they think of children?
She’s canonically 11-19 years old (I headcanon her to be 15), so what does she think of fellow kids? She likes talking to them.

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
She likes nonfiction and lighthearted, feel good books.

    9. What are their bad habits?
She gets flustered and embarrassed easily. She bites her fingernails a lot.

    10. What sports do they do?
    Fishing, sailing, baseball, golfing

    11. Coffee or tea?
Occasionally, Lana drinks coffee, but it’s only when she needs a boost of energy. She drinks tea more often, but she doesn’t drink it everyday.

    12. Night or day?
The ocean is beautiful at night, but Lana prefers daytime because it’s easier to see.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
Catching Dewpider, her first Pokémon and first fishing catch.

    14. How easily do they cry?
The average number of times a Water type trainer cries (which is… a number. I don’t really know what number. Probably slightly higher than the average for a regular person.)

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
She’s used to warm weather, but she needs to bundle up for colder weather.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
Mallow convinced her to make a Dragon Net account. Lana posts videos of her training and fishing catches and has a bit of a following.

    17. How good are they with technology?
    Pretty good.

    18. Who are/were their role models?
Her father was probably her biggest role model, and he inspired and fostered her love of fishing and Water type Pokémon.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
She doesn’t really think about romance, except when she’s watching a cheesy rom com, where she’s like “OMG that is peak relationship goals” and thinks “OMG… that is peak relationship goals”. She wants what any teen girl wants in romance: someone who will lift her off her feet and ride with her into the sunset as the credits roll.

    20. Do they get along with others?
She may be shy, but once she gets to know someone, she’s very friendly with them.

    Fantina
    1. What are their music tastes? Can they play an instrument?

If she can dance to it, then Fantina loves it! Fantina grew up in a very art oriented family and studied violin, cello, flue, and clarinet.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
Performing in a preschool play. She doesn’t remember what the play was or what part she played, so she just imagines that she was the star of the show.

    3. What makes them worry?
She doesn’t outwardly show worry, but Fantina worries about fitting in with the other Sinnoh Gym Leaders.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
Studying Pokémon, dancing, and practicing for Contests.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Fantina is very, very much extroverted.

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. She really loves chocolate. Also bad puns.

    7. What do they think of children?
    She thinks they’re cool.

    8. What's their favorite book genre?
Books about Pokémon and thriller novels.

    9. What are their bad habits?
She bites her fingernails, not because of stress, but because she doesn’t like it when her nails get too long.

    10. What sports do they do?
    Dance.

    11. Coffee or tea?
She doesn’t feel too strongly for either, but she prefers coffee.

    12. Night or day?
Night. She thinks it’s prettier, and Ghost types are out at night.

    13. What's their happiest memory?
Her first Contest. She didn’t win (she got in third place), but she still had so much fun with her Driftfloon (who later evolved into Drifblim).

    14. How easily do they cry?
Not often, but she will cry when she’s feeling extreme emotions (whether those feelings are happiness or sadness).

    15. How do they react to extreme cold/heat?
She doesn’t like either, but if given a choice, she would rather be cold than hot.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
She has a UxieTube channel where she posts dance and Contest tips and tutorial videos. She has a big following.

    17. How good are they with technology?

    18. Who are/were their role models?
The prima ballerina of the Lumiose Ballet Company, which Fantina was a part of before moving to Sinnoh. Keira was also a huge inspiration when Fantina was starting out in the Contest world.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
Fantina can definitely be romantic, and she also wants a partner (after all, she likes dancing with a partner). She wants someone to dance with, someone who will get her small little gifts, someone who will kiss her under the moonlight...

    20. Do they get along with others?
Fantina lights up the room the moment she steps in. She’s very sociable and will talk to almost anyone.

    2. What's their earliest memory?
Her mother telling her the story of the Rainbow Pokémon Ho-Oh for the first time, when Valerie was three years old. The sun was setting over Ecruteak City as Valerie watched her mother sew a pretty, red dress for her. For Valerie, thinking of the memory has a mystical air to it.

She worries about being pretty. She also wants to uphold a positive image of Fairy type Pokémon, since not much is known about them compared to other types.

    4. What do they do in their free time?
Designing clothes, reading, pampering her Pokémon.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?
Extroverted. Valerie loves talking to people, and she often finds talking to people can be a source of great inspiration.

Fairy tales and stories, especially about Pokémon. She also collects porcelain dolls and figures.

    11. Coffee or tea?
Lean towards tea, though she drinks a caramel latte every morning.

Lean towards day. She gets scared of the dark, but she loves the moonlight. At the same time, daytime is pretty.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?

Johto’s traditional music, though he also likes synth wave and trance music.

    3. What makes them worry?
It’s hard to make Morty worried, but he sort of worries about being a good Gym Leader and good seer (you can assume that most Gym Leaders, especially young adult Gym Leaders, are worried about being good Gym Leaders/town or city leaders, and 90% of the time you’ll be right. Also according to Pocket Monsters: The Animation, being a Gym Leader is tough. I don’t know how canon the book is considering later episodes of the anime contradict parts of the book, but it was written by the head writer of the original anime series, and I’ve definitely picked up a lot of things from it for my headcanons/stories).

Studying and training, though sometimes he’ll give himself a break and go to a local café with his friends. He also likes to think about things.

    5. How extroverted/introverted are they?

    6. What's their guilty pleasure?
    P...pop music.

    14. How easily do they cry?
He cries rarely, and it’s only alone.

He prefers hot over cold and gets chilly easily.

    16. What's their presence on PokéSocial Media like?
He has a Dragon Net account and MiniorBlog (microblogging website). He rarely posts and mostly uses them to follow friends, so he doesn’t have too many followers.

    17. How good are they with technology?
Really good. Maybe not at building things, but he’s got some skills with troubleshooting and PC games.

    18. Who are/were their role models?
Alder, Lenora, Marshal, Bianca, Hilbert, and Hilda, but mostly Alder.

    19. Are they romantic? What's their ideal partner?
Cheren’s pretty busy with balancing work and school, and he’s not really sure what he wants his future to be like, but he thinks it might be nice to eventually settle down with someone who he can engage in intellectual conversations with.

    20. Do they get along with others?
He’s gotten better over the years, and now he’s really good at talking to people, though he can get serious when the situation demands it.

Welcome to my headcanon blog! And thank you for the compliment!

It might take me a day or so to do the 20 questions headcanons, so in the meantime, I'll leave you with some quick headcanons until I compile the 20 questions:

-Sometimes, Acerola doesn't feel tired at night, so she'll stay up and read with her Pokémon.

-Gym Leaders often turn to Drayden for advice, because while Gym Leader and mayor/leader of town or city are usually two separate jobs held by two separate people (Drayden being one of the exceptions), Gym Leaders are also expected to help out in the protection and maintenance of the town or city, and many of the Gym Leaders are young an/or don't know how to run a town or city.

-Norman is the only sane Hoenn Gym Leader. He's really good at being a father/mentor figure to them, especially the younger ones or ones who are orphans.

-Koga also serves a similar role to the Gym Leaders and, later, the Indigo Elite Four and Lance. However, the Elite Four and Lance in particular see him as a buddy to bring along to karaoke nights.

    Clay|Mina|Roxie|Sophocles|Whitney 20 headcanons
  • If you can Clay, Mina, Roxie, Sophocles and Whitney please, and thanks again for all your hard work :bulbaLove:.

    Clay
    1. He tries talking to Steven about business, the Devon Corporation, etc., but because Steven doesn’t like thinking about business, the subject always ends up changing to rocks. Clay doesn’t mind; he loves talking about things he finds while mining.
    2. Clay’s family is from the Kanto region (Based on that interview where Yusuke Ohmura said that Clay represents people of Japanese descent who came to America)
    3. His family moved when he was pretty young, so he only has vague memories of Kanto. He still gets nostalgic when he goes to Kanto, though.
    4. Clay is really sad (and mad) that there aren’t many Ground type trainers (and the most famous is Giovanni), so he tries to convince the Rock/Steel type trainers to become, at the very least, half Ground type specialists. He’s also tried convincing Peony’s daughter, Peonia, to be one, but she isn’t convinced.
    5. Off topic, but the Rock/Steel/Ground type trainers are all buddies.
    6. Anyway, Clay is pretty good at talking to other League members.
    7. He’s also good at talking to the chairmen of the Pokémon League, especially the Unovan chairman. Since almost everyone in the League is scared of the higher ups, they often turn to Clay when they need to talk to them.
    8. He’s good at conflict resolution. Two Gym Leaders arguing? He’ll help them make up.
    9. He’s a lowkey, wannabe country singer.
    10. At League meetings and stuff, when there’s an open mic (Leon just really wanted to sing “Bicycle Race” and he needed a good excuse that wouldn’t sound selfish), Clay will sing the greatest country hits.
    11. He wants to form a band. So far, Drayden is the only one on board.
    12. He’s good at economic advice.
    13. He went to the Alola region and caught a Mudsdale, who’s a very loyal, hardworking companion who loves attention.
    14. Clay gives out Mudsdale rides every year as part of the Driftveil Charity Carnival.
    15. He’s pretty good at embroidery. He doesn’t try to keep it a secret, but not many know about it.
    16. He really likes suits and sweaters.
    17. He made the Unova Gym Leaders matching sweaters.
    18. He can be a bit brash, but he has heart.

    Mina
    1. She goes to art museums and goes “woah” at every piece of art. And everything in the food court.

    3. She hoards art museums brochures and maps “for inspiration”.
    4. Actually, she hoards all kinds of magazines, brochures, cereal boxes, etc.
    5. She took a film class and made garish, surrealist, avant garde music videos.
    6. For art projects, she makes abstract art and says they have “deep meaning” and “say something about society” without elaboration. It works every time.
    7. She’s a bit of a party girl (that’s an understatement she’s more than a bit of a party girl).
    8. She’s a bit of a jock at her high school. A jock artist.
    9. She gets decent grades, but they’d probably be better if she paid attention.
    10. Her favorite medium is paint. Her least favorite is pencil.
    11. She gets along with Wallace and Siebold. They’re all artists, and Mina likes painting the ocean.
    12. She puts the milk in before the cereal.
    13. She likes tie-dying her clothes sometimes.
    14. The Kommo-o Totem Pokémon on Poni island respects and fears her. Her Fairy types are just too strong.
    15. She has an extreme caffeine sensitivity. If she drinks two or three cups of coffee, she won’t be able to sleep for days.
    16. Sometimes she won’t sleep when she’s on a creative streak.
    17. She does surrealist portraits of people and Pokémon on occasion.

    2. He always has money on hand in case he comes across a gashapon or hand claw machine.

    6. He’s really good at math and science. The other Trial Captains often ask him for help with homework.
    7. He’s pretty good at drawing, as well. He developed the skill from drawing blueprints.
    8. Both of his parents were once engineering professors at the University of Hau'oli City, which is how they met.

    8. She started out with local Pokémon battling tournaments, and she quickly became famous for her skills.
    9. She, Falkner, and Bugsy once tried to sneak into the Game Corner once. Lance intervened, and it became a Very Special Episode except it wasn’t because they didn’t learn anything.
    10. Fight her in Super Smash Mons and she will show NO mercy.

    Gracefulshipping/MikuNagi (Wallace x Winona)
  • Gracefulshipping/MikuNagi (Wallace x Winona)
    1. Wallace is the biggest sap you’ll ever meet. His love language is dramatic, like something you’d read in a romance novel. At the same time, he knows that Winona prefers smaller gestures of love. That isn’t to say she hates or doesn’t appreciate his grander gestures (though they can be, at times, a little embarrassing, especially that one time when he tried serenading her and ended up falling into the pool of his Gym, but that’s a story for another time). It’s just that a simple kiss in the morning is enough, even something she’ll cherish throughout the day.
    2. Speaking of kissing, favorite kissing places include hands, fingers, neck, and collarbone.
    3. They write each other poetry and exchange it via Wingull
    4. They’re both perfectionists. They always tell the other to take better care of themselves, only to not follow their own advice.
    5. They have a whole “almost get killed trying to save the Hoenn region and then make out afterwards” schtick going on, much to Steven’s chagrin.
    6. They’re both super squeamish, but when one of them is hurt, the other tries their best to take care of them. Wallace sometimes looks up Winona's symptoms to make sure she's okay, panics, and takes her to the doctor only to find out that it's just the common cold. Winona has some knowledge of first aid.
    7. Sometimes, Wallace accompanies Winona to the doctor if things could get too icky, and vice versa.
    8. When it’s snowing or raining, Wallace will sometimes wrap his cape around Winona so she won’t get cold. The problem is that Wallace gets cold more easily than Winona, so he kinda needs the cape more.
    9. Wallace’s pet names for Winona include “darling”, “my love”, and “my angel”, as well as “Astéri mou” (Greek for “my star”). He almost always signs off his letters to her with the last one.
    10. Occasionally, his pet names are less like pet names and more like long epithets like “my North Star, who shines beautifully in the night sky, who guides me, who shines hope into my life…”
    11. Winona doesn’t use pet names as often as Wallace, though she’ll also use “darling”, "lover boy", and, on the occasion, “Luvdisc”.
    12. Neither one is too keen on PDA, though they’ll occasionally sneak away during public gatherings to steal just one quick kiss (okay, maybe it’s not just one kiss, and maybe it’s not quick).
    13. Date locations usually take place in natural environments like forests and the oceanside, though they’ll sometimes just stay at home or wander around their hometowns. Wallace gets nervous about eating in public, so restaurants are usually a no go.
    14. Winona’s secretly a sucker for being the little spoon. Her and Wallace’s favorite sleeping position is facing each other, with Winona resting her head against Wallace’s chest and Wallace’s arm draped around Winona.
    15. Neither of them can cook. Uh oh.
    16. At least they can both do housework.
    17. They like slow waltzing.
    18. Wallace likes to take Winona on joyrides (don’t tell her but he doesn’t have a driver’s license).
    19. Winona likes to take Wallace flying with her, though he always holds on tightly from the moment they takeoff to the moment they land.
    20. Hugs. They love hugs.

    Sootopolis stones
  • It's common in Sootopolis City for couples to exchange Heart Scales as a symbol of their love. Some even go to special jewelers to get them made into beautiful necklaces.
Gemstones also play a part in Sootopolitan culture.
Rubies symbolize the land and sun and represent Groudon. Many farmers' most important tools are decorated with them.
Sapphires symbolize the sea and rain and represent Kyogre. Sailors often wear jewelry with them to pray for calm, easy travels.
Emeralds symbolize the sky and peace and represent Rayquaza. Emissaries often keep emerald trinkets on hand during diplomatic missions.
Pearls are associated with wealth, love (more specifically in the eros sense), and beauty. Occasionally, they're also associated with the mythical Pokémon Jirachi, so they also represent the stars and good luck.

Eating Disorders in the world of Coordinators
  • Eating Disorders in the world of Coordinators (inspired by the thread Is being a Pokemon Coordinator (or Performer) more stressful than a Pokemon Trainer on a badge quest?, as well as a story I've been writing over the past month)
Mental illness, especially eating disorders, aren't too well discussed in the world of Coordinators, despite the fact that Coordinators are three times more likely to suffer from eating disorders compared to Trainers and despite the fact that several prominent Coordinators deal with or have dealt with them.

Fantina has dealt with body image issues as an offshoot of her desire to fit in and be perfect, but she, thankfully, has the support of her close friends. Wallace is recovering from starving/purging habits he developed as a way to cope with trauma and other negative emotions. During college, he even had to take a break from Contests because the stress of Contests, school, and Gym Leader duties were too much, worsening his disorder. Both Coordinators deal with these issues in private, with only a few close family members and friends knowing about them.

That being said, there are several resources available for Coordinators who are struggling. Nurse Joys, who commonly judge Contests, are always willing to lend a listening ear. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh all have regional hotlines specifically for Coordinators. In addition, eating disorder awareness has been on the rise the past few years, with several programs starting that focus on educating, helping, and supporting Coordinators who are struggling.

    Sinnoh
  • Why not do some Sinnoh headcanons to celebrate the Legends and BDSP announcements?

    Sinnoh
    1. The Seal of Sinnoh depicts the golden cross wheel of Arceus, with the four jewels being two pearls and two diamonds.
    2. The region’s motto is “Through time and space, we prosper”
    3. Sinnoh’s main exports are iron and mineral products, coal, and semiconductors.
    4. Tourism, especially during the summer, is also an important industry.
    5. Sinnoh and Galar’s Pokémon Leagues have an ongoing, friendly rivalry. Every year, they hold a tournament, alternating between holding it in Jubilife City and Wyndon (sister cities to each other). Due to its lack of an Elite Four, Galar brings four of its strongest non League trainers along.
    6. Rowan has done some research on Mega Evolution, but it’s still very, very uncommon in Sinnoh, with only a few notable trainers using it.
    7. Every winter, Snowpoint City has its annual Snow and Ice Sculpting Contest. Sculptors from all over the world come to participate in the week-long event.
    8. Sinnoh, especially Hearthome City, has a large population of Kalosian immigrants.
    9. Bertha is the Little Old Lady from Pasadena.
      View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7f9hsFrKUY
    10. Veilstone City and Celadon City are sister cities, as are Sunyshore City and Olivine City.
    11. Veilstone City is in a bit of decay, with countless buildings not up to maintenance. To try to counter this, the city has tried to make itself a center of entertainment and tourism.
    12. Sinnoh has the lowest unemployment rate in the Pokémon nation.
    13. The region also prides itself on having lower crime rates compared to Kanto Johto, and Hoenn (and then we have Team Galactic come in but we don't talk about thatin Sinnoh—). However, places like Veilstone City do see their fair share of crime.
    14. With a worldwide decline in the coal industry, there is some fear that the Oreburgh Mine, which is currently thriving, will go out of business in the future, destroying the city’s economy and affecting the economy of the region as a whole. Because of this (and because of his love of fossils), Gym Leader Roark has been pushing the archaeology industry.
    15. While Sinnoh does grow a lot of its own food, it has to rely on imported food to support its whole population.
    16. There have been reports of people going into some sort of “void” and seeing Mythical Pokémon. There has been debate on whether this phenomenon is real or just a mirage/hallucination.
    17. After one too many incidents of Trainers doing it and causing a ruckus, using Honey/Sweet Scent in a Poké Mart is now a crime punishable by a fine of five thousand Pokédollars or being banned from the Poké Mart.
    18. Eterna City is facing the start of a demographic and economic decline, which Gym Leader Gardenia is trying to combat through the opening of museums.
    19. The Chairman of the Sinnoh League, John Yamada, is… okay? I mean, he’s not as bad as Cockburn in the Hoenn region, but he’s sort of apathetic.
    20. In Sinnoh, the Gym Leaders are closer to the Elite Four compared to other regions.

    Incorrect quotes: Sonic 06 fandub
  • Pokémon characters as quotes from the Sonic 06 Fandub

    Contains swearing

Lance: Look around you. Imagine: Dragons. Imagine: Gaming. On Fortnite... VR.
Wallace: I'm imagining the ocean because I've established that when I don't want to be somewhere that's what I think about.

Maxie: Wow [player character], go read a book or something. Se ya, idiot.
Player character: I can read very well, actually.

Volkner: Anyway, [Fantina], that's a nice purple you have there.
Fantina: Thanks, it's, uh, a good color on me. What do you think of my... [dress].
Volkner: I think it's nice. That's the purple I was referring to.

Lisia: I'll take one scoop, please.

    Valerie: I—oh...okay...I can fly??? what???

Wallace (at Sky Pillar), to player character: So, this is the fabled Tilted Towers.

Avery: Look at this orb. Inside you will see the future. In your future, it looks like you'll kiss seven girls. How lucky for you.
Bede: Joke's on you! If you were a true copy of me, you'd know I'm gay!

Winona: Have you ever actually interacted with a woman in your life, [Maxie/Archie]?
Maxie/Archie: That doesn't matter. Check out this cool... gem I got on eBay for seven dollars.

Giratina: Anyway, welcome to my purple orb. It's time to go.
    Cyrus: Wait, I don't think it's...ah!

Iris (when Opelucid City gets frozen over): Robots in the sky? This is just like that dream I had once! About robots in the sky.
Drayden: Tell it to us in excruciating detail, [Iris].
Iris: Well, it was a whole drea—bye!

Lusamine: All the gamers... all of the gamers will be on our side. We'll have an army of gamers to take on the world with!
Guzma: Yeah, well you say that like it's a threatening thing. Have you ever seen a gamer in real life before?

Everyone in the Ultra Recon Squad upon arriving in Alola: Oh my gosh this is... is that what a... tree looks like??? It's beautiful! Hey, wait. Is that a rock too???? Fuck yeah! This place rules!

Me to every Pokémon human character, every single day: Why don't you tell me your incredibly complicated backstory? In an interesting, long winded monologue? Complete with background visuals?

Player character (to friendly rivals, apparently): Oh wait, shit. You don't make this fun 'cause you're sad!

Lucian: You know, [player character], do you ever stop and think about how... this is
    really—
Player character: All the time. All the time, [Lucian]. I can never stop thinking. Sends me into a fit. Always analyzing. Always so superior to everyone around me.

    Hoenn immigrants
  • Requoting some of my headcanons from the thread What are your game headcanons? . Go check it out! There are a lot of headcanons by people that aren't me.
I headcanon that Hoenn has a large population of PokéIrish immigrants. I also headcanon that Flannery is descended from Irish immigrants.

In addition, Hoenn has a sizable number of people descended from Kalosian and Galarian immigrants.

Sootopolitans speaks a dialect of PokéGreek characterized by loanwords from PokéJapanese.
