How does Ash get past all the things he went through?

Well he is Ash and if they just fried by one of Team Rocket's machines, then what would they do? He has to survive because hes the main character.

He gets by because he's indestructible.

Oh, and he's the idiot hero. I'm not sure what this question is asking though - do you mean the mental trauma that should come with being nearly killed all the time or him just surviving everything he's gone through?

That's what the power of pokemon is all about. As long as has his pokemon he can recover from any near death experience.

Because Ash smokes plot. He doesn't have to remember any of it. He just has to keep the story going.

Ash is the main character. The writers always give him ways to squeeze his way out of danger.

Because he's the main character. And, of course, the Power of Friendship.

That sounds a lot more like Yu-Gi-Oh! than Pokemon :p

But yeah, he must survive because he's the main character, however, perhaps the real question is how Team Rocket survives being burned by Flamethrower, electrocuted by Thunder, or being blasted off miles away every single episode. Their life-threatening events occur more than Ash's.

I guess it helps Ash to keep his mind focused on his goals and not let aanything get in his way. That's detirmination for ya!

Unless their name is Son Goku.........

You win.

He has pretty good Pokemon too, and maybe it's just that because he risks his life for the good of others, karma pays him back by making him such a survivalist.

Because he's the main character and its his journey. If he dies the anime would die with him.

Because if Ash had not survived those things, whoever is telling the story portrayed in the cartoon would not have chosen to tell his story. There's a name for this literary principle, but I forgot it.

Well, Pokemon anime isn't meant to be taken literal, it is all a dream in his mind from when he turned 10. He woke up from a dream within a dream, he is still dreaming. When he wakes up, we will be in Black and White.

The kid's denser than water.
Besides, if every misadventure Ash had stayed in his mind, we might actually have something resembling conflict, or heaven forbid... a plot! Can't let that happen!
