From an in-universe perspective how long do you think league battles are? How much time do you think a 3 v 3 fight takes outside of severe curbstomps, or a 6 v 6 fight?

I thinking about half an hour to 1 hour top for 3 on 3 and hour or 2 for a full battle depend on how the battle went and if theres a break after one trainar lost half there team.

It depends on what we're watching. If an event is happening, along with some other issue(s) happening at the same time... it's really confusing on how and where it starts approximately, if not exactly.

For some reason I thought some battles had timers...and as far as I can tell the ones in the Hoenn League had them.

Ash versus Morrison and Ash versus Tyson were apparently about an hour...

I'm sure the referees would be able to interfere if the Trainers are stalling though. Like some sports, there may be a time limit that's just not always visible for the audience. I also believe skilled battles on average last around 10 minutes per amount of Pokémon in party.

While not a League battle, didn't the Jessie vs Harley fight imply there's some kind of limit during battles? Then again, they were pissing everyone off by not doing anything...

I think contest battles in particular always had a time limit. I also think a Gym referees would specify "no time limit" a few times, suggesting they do happen (and I think I remember a timer in the Hoenn league like KrspaceT said but I might be mistaken).

Okay, I forgot about contest battles having a time limit, but I feel there's still a limit to what they could tolerate to prevent trainers from stalling.

...I guess Shuckle might be soft-banned in-universe, now that I think about it.

I did mention it just above you, and as far as I can tell it is the only league with such things
