In relative terms, of course. She clearly has a large amount of weaponry at her disposal (cloaking devices don't come cheap!), and has to travel to various places in Sinnoh in order to get Pokemon for her clients. Also, her clients seem to be relatively well-off (compared to some of the people Team Rocket has been hired for over the years), so the question has to be asked, how much does a mercenary such as her cost?

Since we don't have a clue about what currency system is used (It could be like the Japanese Yen, or the Western world's Dollar), we can't exactly have a quantitative amount.

However, my guess is that her services cost quite a bomb, but she appears to get enough business to be profitable.

...Which also brings in to question about the economy of the Pokémon world. Just what is it's current state? most everyone Ash and friends meet appear to be very well off.

I dunno since Dogasu made a big deal is she charging American Money or Yen? Or does she take PokeDollars? I don't know what to pay her in :(

It must be a lot, since she can afford a fricking invisible spaceship thing D:

Have a look at Mutiny in the Bounty!---in a flashback J is shown being paid with a briefcase full of gold coins not unlike a giant Coin Case.

Does this mean that Hunter J's whole operation is an elaborate plot to fuel her gambling addiction?

Yes. Hunter J's real in-game trainer class would be one of the old school gamblers. Yes, Hunter J is really a guy also who is hiding in a female suit so that he can indulge his own delusions. Poor guy was quite confused as a kid.

And, on a more serious note, it's definitely gotta cost a ton of cash - equivelant to $500,000 at least - to hire her to illegally capture Pokemon. I'd imagine that the Pokemon World is probably quite socialist, given the ease with which Satoshi and company support themselves - while supporting a capitalist environment. They probably have really high taxes to support all that.

J apparently has a feminine-sounding voice; I just watched the Riolu special two days ago. So you are just assuming that J was really a guy.

-_-

Sarcasm is a foreign concept to you, isn't it? Of course Rhapsody doesn't really think J is a guy...

I think J gets paid quite a lot. Probably thousandz.

I suppose it depends on what she gets. A creature like a dratini much get her a fortune, while a Bidoof would get her...... Three cents.

She's a Pokémon bounty hunter. She does not hunt Pokémon unless she is hired to. If someone were to ask her to catch a Bidoof, it would obviously be of some importance to them, and I doubt she would go through all that trouble for such a small price.

I wouldn't mock the average petty Pokemon. Who knows what powers they hide that make them rare.

Yes but when you hire someone to do something it usually depends on what you want them to do. I mean you wouldn't pay $300 for gas (yet) but you would if it was for something like changing tires (I think any ways, I don't own a car so I don't know).

BTW considering how much it costs for a Poke ball I think they are using Japanese currency.

It would depend on what, how and from where, but I would hazard a guess at £5,000 for small stuff to probably upward of £250,000 for the big stuff. Don't forget she has to pay her men and maintain all her equipment. granted her operation could be huge with several targets at once (and the odd interesting capture) she probably only handles the hard/fun stuff.

Going by the tech level she must have a high turnover upwards of several million a year, plus she must have some very good contacts to get her gear.

Oh and I don't know if its just me but the title sounds wrong!
