Yes, WipEout has lore. In this case, it's suspected that this team, debuting in WipEout Fusion, wiped the memories of their pilots as they upgraded them with cybernetics. EG-r also displayed rather fearsome firepower - or at least threatened the authorities with it when an investigation into their pilots was requested. They were one of three teams to survive the fall of the F9000, the others being Xios (which EG-r would merge with by the time of the FX350 to become EG-X) and Van-Uber. Tigron also appears in Pure and Omega Collection, but only as remnants of the distant past - the company is gone, but their legacy mysteriously survives...

It depends on whether they are from the human island or the rest of the world. As she is a former human from the island, she would recognize actors from there and probably be excited and nervous. Actors from the outer world though would escape her and she wouldn't have much of a reaction other than the usual fascination, nervousness, and curiosity.
