Putting this here since really have no other clue where to put it.
I'm trying to put the finising touches on a list of Pokémon I came up with for a fan game (which will probably never get made, but I can dream), and I'm stuck on a few that still need names. One in particular is based on a phoenix (I know we have Ho-Oh, but that's based specifically on the Fenghuang and this is based on the one from Greek mythology specifically), and I'm at the end of my rope trying to come up with a name that sounds appropriately elegant and powerful. I've tried using combinations of foriegn words related to fire, I've tried looking up the origins of the word "phoenix" for inspiration, I've tried looking over Bulbapedia's list of Fire-types to see which words haven't been used yet... I'm still stumped. My main line of thought up to this point was something that could be translated to "Born from the ashes," but I couldn't come up with anything that sounded right. I get the feeling I may be overthinking things a little.

The main issue is that my attempts at looking up fire-related words keep coming up with lists of synonyms, when I'm trying to find words related to the OBJECT of fire (i.e. "ashes," "pyre," etc.). Does anyone know of any words that will fit the bill?

Here's some stuff I came up with:
  • Pyrizon: pyre and horizon
  • Emberawn: ember and dawn
  • Ashspark: ash and spark (that's sort of a beginning word, right?)
  • Cinispawn/Cinispyre: cinis (Google translate Latin for ash) and spawn/pyre
  • Ashurora: ash and aurora (Google translate Latin for dawn)
Edit: Google translate tells me that the Latin word for 'start' is 'initium'. That sounds cool. Maybe merge it with ignition? There's also 'primero/a', which is 'first' in Spanish; that also sounds like you could build an interesting name out of it. Like maybe Pyrimero/a? Or maybe just Pyrimeo/a, without the r?

Thank you for your contribution! I wasn't expecting a reply until at least morning. "Pyrizon" is definitely a contender.
