I wanted to make a thread here about your imagination/your story about Pokemon Anime. If you were one of the writers of the Pokemon anime, how would YOU handle things? Is there some certain future event you would like to see written a certain way? Is there some past event that you would like to have seen written differently? Is there a battle that you would prefer have gone in a different direction? If so, post your ideal fantasy events of the anime here.
Have fun sharing your ideas!

If I were in charge of the animé, I would have had Serena be a Sky Trainer like her manga counterpart and create a competition for Sky Trainers, where she would have to win five Sky Battle competitions, each one giving her a badge or a stamp of some sort, to become a Sky Ace. Then, there would be a final competition where all the Sky Aces would battle to become a Sky Marshal. She would eventually win the competition and become a Sky Marshal after a series of long and difficult battles. After the competition, Serena would wonder what she wants to do since she had originally wanted to become a Sky Trainer just to go against her mother's wishes for her to be a Rhyhorn racer, but even though she loves Sky Battles now, there aren't any further competitions for her to participate in.

As for Ash, Serena's victory would drive him to train that much harder for the Kalos League, with Ash eventually deciding to mix and match all of his Pokémon, both from Kalos and from back in Kanto, to have him battle in the Kalos League, which he would win, with the final battle being between Alain's Mega Charizard X vs. Ash's Mega Charizard Y, with Ash's Charizard barely winning, and Ash winning the Kalos League. After that, I would have the Team Flare arc occur in a very similar way to how it happened in the animé, but I would also involve Looker and Emma and Serena would have a bigger role and battle directly in the conflict as well. The aftermath of the battle, plus her meeting with Looker, would convince her to help him and Emma start the Looker Detective Bureau.

As for Serena's crush on Ash, even though I'm no shipper, it would still be there, but Ash would eventually begin to take second looks at her, especially after she participates in the Sky Battle competitions and teaches him about them, while Ash will also teach her about other types of Pokémon battles, since she'll have more than just Flying-type Pokémon. She would have a Fletchling as her first Pokémon, which would evolve into a Talonflame, with her Kalos Starter being Fennekin, with her evolving into Delphox, with Delphox participating in Sky Battles by using Psychic to float and ride her stick. She would also get a Charmander, eventually evolving it into Charizard, which would become a Mega Charizard X, a reflection of Ash's Mega Charizard Y. This would cause her to have trouble against Trainers that used Ground and/or Rock-type Pokémon, particularly the Rhyhorn line. Her skills would also cause her to be scouted by Team Flare, which she would reject.

As for companions, if Showcases were mandate from above, I would have Shauna be a companion and have her participate in them. If that happened, I would still have Clemont and Bonnie travel with Ash and friends until he reclaims his gym from Clembot and Ash wins his badge. If Showcases were not needed, I would simply have Clemont and Bonnie still travel with Ash and Serena throughout the rest of the series.

At the end, after Serena throws Ash a birthday party where it is stated he is turning 13, I would have Ash return to Kanto with Serena staying to set up the Looker Detective Bureau, but she would tell him that there would almost certainly be branches opened in other parts of the world, so she would definitely see him again. Before he leaves, though, she would still give him a kiss, which would be shown. Ash to smile and thank her for everything and wish her luck in her endeavors, which she returns. Before he leaves, though, she would give him a holocaster and give him her number so they could talk in the future, which they would. The final scene would be him returning home with him placing the trophy in his room, along with two pictures, one of the Kalos Quartet, and another of just him and Serena, holding their trophies from their victories.

I would adapt the game's plot and have each season be shorter. Maybe 20-50 episodes for each game. Seeing BW1, SV and PLA animated would be great. I would also animate PMD Sky.

I would rewrite the Unova league to Ash winning against Tobias (Who returns). He doesn't win the league, but I think taking down Tobias would have validated the experience. He would have won the Kalos league, however. Ash winning in that moment felt right. However, he would have won it using his reserves. Brock also would never have left, I know he was basically a background character by Sinnoh, but his hitting on women gag still drew more laughter than any other schtick that came afterwards. Not to mention he was there to be the mature head of the anime. There was no need to replace him. I would have also found a way to get Ash's totodile to evolve into a feraligatr during the kalos league. Two evolutional skips seems unnecessary. But, it Ash's single staged mons are effectively high level'd mons. So totodile is basically a high level'd Pokemon who (in the games) would evolve right away after gaining another level.

I will make my own version of Pokemon anime. Firstly, I will divide Pokemon anime into 3 eras. First era will be Golden era/Classic which are OS-> AG-> DP ( Gen 1-4) This era will be about Ash's progression from low gym level character via hard battles/trainings/strategies to high Frontier Brain levels.
Second era would be Bronze era/age which are BW -> XY -> SM -> SH/SW( Gen 5-8). This era would be about Ash's progression to E4 levels and his skill raise to that level. His experience and skills raise exponentially.
Third and final Ash era would be Renaissance era which would be S/V -> ??? -> ??? -> ??? ( Gen 9 - 12) which would be about Ash becoming Champion and finally in the end Pokemon Master.
It would take time and effort to make those parts so I will do them in due time and of course if I still remain on this site in future update my versions.

My versions will be similar to main anime from OS-SM , JN and after( since Ash is not MC anymore but in my HC he is until Gen 13) will be different.
Just some in general info: PWC will be done from Gen 10 - Gen 12. Ash would have 151-152 Pokemon( including 30 Tauros) to finish the circle of original Pokemon( I may have given him the "final" Pokemon( like some strong Legendary Pokemon) to be 152. TRio will have conclusion. TR organization will have major role in final gens. Every companion will have a conclusion. Ash's father will definitely appear and have major role.

  • Like someone already said, make Serena a sky trainer.
  • Recreate Team Plasma vs Team Rocket without the damn earthquakes.
  • Ash wins the league in Sinnoh, Unova or Kalos.
  • Cameron doesn’t exist.
  • Never would’ve changed the artstyle.
  • Adapt the story from the games, but add much more lore.
  • Give Ash a definite ending.
  • Becoming a pokemon master is winning the championship league. As well as having a lot of knowledge about pokemon in general.
  • Give Ash’s friends more focus episodes to develop. Misty and Iris find out what it takes to become a water and dragon master.
  • Create tournaments of specific pokemon types so can Iris and Misty participate.
  • May and Dawn become top coordinators.
  • The evil Malamar from XY get a two-partner to conclude their story.
  • The Ultra Recon Squad and their homeland appear in the anime and are given a proper storyline. Explore Ultra Megalopolis.
  • Change everything about the sun/moon anime.

Kanto: Mostly the same, but I'd give Ash a more standard team and more appearances from Gary. Ritchie would appear more and Ash's defeat would be less about Team Rocket and more about he not knowing well how to counter his Pokemon's weaknesses.
Orange Islands: Again mostly the same. Having a new protagonist for only 30 episodes is strange but it gives the series some variety and at the end of the day Tracey's harmless. Maybe I'll combine him with Todd so he have an extra spice to him and is able to appear more later.
Johto: Same structure, but Ash receives a better team with Meganium as the powerhouse, and 70% of filler is cut. Misty and Brock get a lot of development and both leave at the end of the series. Suicune is connected to Misty, and the GS Ball contains a Shiny Celebi and it has a cool arc. Ash battles Giovanni and the admins. Gary appears more times, Ash beats Ritchie before the league and Casey also appears in the league.
Hoenn: Roxanne replaces Brock, she wants to explore the region's ruins and understand the weather. The Hoenn Arc is shorter and the Battle Frontier is slightly larger. Tyson is replaced by none other than Paul who defeats Ash in the semifinals. Ash uses reserves in the league. In the Battle Frontier Ash and Paul are direct rivals, and while Paul is the strongest of the two after he's beaten by Brandon he deems the challenge unworthy of him and heads to Sinnoh, so Ash follows him. May and Max are the same, for now... Max joins the Pokemon School at the end.
Sinnoh: The main trio is Ash, Dawn and Barry, who is a Pokeathlete and must compete in 3 competitions to win. Ampipom is not released. Ash's development and progress is mostly the same, until he beats Paul at the league finals. Winning a league turns you into a Champion challenger. The Elite Four are previous champion challengers, who are chosen by a comitee and are able to challenge the champion at will and participate on league promotion activities. Therefore, Ash can go straight to battle Cynthia, and almost beats her. This is the end of Ash's story, for now...In the Grand Festival, Dawn beats Zoey but loses to May, and leaves to train with her. TR and Giovanni become involved with Team Galactic, so when the later are defeated Team Rocket as a whole is too. They become policeman.
Unova: The new protagonist is Hilda, who likes battles but is very lazy and relaxed. She is joined by Cilan who is the same and Cheren who is a Normal-type specialist and wants to demostrate their versatility. Iris joins at the half of the series and is extremely childish, but eventually bonds with Hilda and all of them mature at the end of the series. The Team Plasma plot is adapted verbatim and they also hijack the league. Hugh and a more competent Bianca are Hilda's rivals. In the post-league, the group beats Colress and participated in the Pokemon World Tournament where lots of characters from previous series participate, including Ash. Hilda and Ash do not battle but become friends.
Kalos: The new protagonist is no other than Max, who has aged and done some battle stuff, and aims to be a Megaevolution master with his Mega Gallade. His only companion is Serena who is a Pokemon racer. Bonnie and Clemont still are recourring characters as well as Tierno, Trevor and Shauna. There is a long ORAS Arc which features the Delta Episode adapted, May's return and lots of references to AG. Sawyer is Max's rival too. At the end there is another World Tournament, and Ash beats both Max (finally fulfilling their promise) and Hilda. A mysterious figure approaches to him...
Alola: Meanwhile, a girl called Moon moves to Alola because her mom has married Professor Kukui. She is an Alolan native, but moved when she was a baby so she does not care much about the region. She is good with Pokemon but bad with people, and decides to catch every Pokemon in the region to spend her free time. She is joined by Lillie, who fears Pokemon, local nerd Sophocles and Elio, an extroverted dancing boy. Eventually, they discover the secrets of Team Skull, Aether Foundation, Ultra Recon Squad and Necrozma, battle all Grand Kahunas. This allows Moon to battle her stepfather Kukui, and she manages to beat him using her appreciation for the region after meeting lots of people and Pokemon. She decides to start a real journey with her friends.
Galar: Ash comes back as the protagonist, after being invited by Leon to participate in the strongest gym challenge ever in Galar where he is the champion. He is accompained by Misty and Brock, and he faces against not only the gym leaders but also characters from the past while using all of his Pokemon. Content from the game like Macro Cosmos, Marnie and Team Yell, the descendants and the DLCs are covered, and there is a 10 episode arc about the story from PLA showcasing ancestors of anime-only characters. At the end, Ash wins and retires from battling and decides to go and meet legendary Pokemon. Later series follow the Alola series template but still happen within the same canon.

*Every main character--including the Pokémon--needs an arc planned. It can be simple--not everyone can get Infernape levels of attention--but when someone is added to the cast have some big moment for them in mind. If someone is going to leave build up to it.
*Retire Ash after Johto and use new leads for each series.
*Jessie and James get married like in the manga.

What do you mean a more standard team? What was wrong with the one he had?

What wasn't...He trigged like less than 5 evolutions and they were either Deux Ex Machinas or portrayed as something bad, and he had an empty spot for a lot of the series. In my idea his team would be Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Wartortle, Charizard, Pidgeot and Butterfree replaced eventually by Snorlax.

Wasn't the original team gonna be Vensuaur, Charizard, Squirtle, Pikahcu, Pidgeot and Tauros

Hoenn League
I'd have Ash use reserves like Charizard/Snorlax/Bulbasaur/Kingler/Heracross which would've helped his chances of beating Tyson and advancing to the Finals.

Sinnoh League
  • Version 1 : Ash vs Paul in the Finals using the same teams
  • Version 2 : Paul vs Conway instead of Paul vs Barry; Barry gets eliminated by Trollbias
  • Version 3 : Ash and Paul both use a combination of newer pokemon and reserves in their battle
  • Version 4 : Ash uses Charizard/Pikachu/Sceptile/Heracross/Swellow/Gible vs Tobias
  • Version 5 : Everything stays the same from the anime except Ash's journey ends here and there's a new protagonist for BW and onwards

Unova League
I'd have Ash include his reserves,
  • Virgil vs Cameron (6 vs 6)
  • Ash vs Trip (6 vs 6)
  • Ash vs Virgil in the Finals (6 vs 6)

Kalos League
Ash's team vs Alain would be some of his Kalos lineup and some of his reserves

Alola League
Ash vs Gladion is a full battle instead of a 3 v 3

PWC/World Coronation Series
Like with the Battle Frontier I'd have Ash use both his reserves and the new pokemon like Lucario,Sirfetch'd and Gengar. Instead of training Ash for the Masters 8 I'd instead have Paul compete and actually be apart of the M8 replacing Iris. Brock and Misty would be Ash's traveling companions for all of Journeys.

  • Version 1 : Paul vs Cynthia in a 3 v 3, Paul is using Mega Aggron,Torterra and Electivire
  • Version 2 : Ash gets another shot against Alain and wins this time in a 3 v 3
  • Version 3 : Paul vs Cynthia (6 v 6) ---->>> Ash vs Cynthia (6 v 6) ----->>> Ash vs Leon (6 v 6)
  • Version 4 : Ash vs Cynthia (6 v 6) ---->>> Ash vs Paul (6 v 6) --->>> Ash vs Leon (6 v 6)
  • Version 5 : Paul is revealed to be a new gym leader during Aim to Be a Pokemon Master arc,he meets Gary and they battle each other in a 3 v 3 with Ash,Brock and Misty watching on the sidelines.
  • Version 6 : Ash uses Pikachu,Greninja,Lucario,Charizard,Sceptile and Snorlax vs Leon.

So i am gonna list the Kanto Teams for Ash, Brock, Misty.
Ash
Pikachu - Starter Pokemon
Caterpie > Metapod > Buttefree - Caught in Viridian Forest. Takes part in the Butterfree mating season and falls in love with a wild pink Butterfree. Ash decides to catch the Pink Butterfree and sends her and Butterfree to Oaks, where both go in permanent retirement.
Pidgeotto > Pidgeot - Pidgeot evolves while protecting a group of Pidgey and Pidgeotto from a Fearow. Ash lets it stay at Viridian Forest, but doesn't release it. Pidgeot rejoins the team for the Battle Frontier saga and onwards, since some Pidgeotto have grown up into Pidgeot and can protect the flock.
Bulbasaur > Ivysaur - Fourth addition to the team and a reliable member.
Squirtle - Joins the team after having bonded with Ash getting separated from other members of its group. Bonds with Bulbasaur.
Cubone - After being abducted by Team Rocket and saved by Ash and gang, it joins the group. Cubone isn't a battler and doesn't have many confidence in its own abilities because of it. Ash and Brocks Graveler help it relax and come out of its shell a little. Cubone becomes very stressed when seeing Team Rocket, so Ash decides to send it to Oaks for a bit to calm down.
Tauros - Tauros is a strong battler and the powerhouse on the team.
Magmar - Obtained from Blaine after he bonded with it.

Brock
Onix - Strongest battler and main Pokemon
Geodude > Graveler - Graveler is the voice of reason and one of the only ones to develop a strong bond with Ash's Cubone. Geodude evolved into Graveler, fighting Team Rocket and cover for Ash to get away with Cubone.
Dome Fossil > Kabuto - Brock gets the Dome Fossil from a scientist the group saved from Team Rocket. He revives it on the Cinnabar Research lab.
Charmander > Charmeleon > Charizard - Charizard was left on a rock in the rain to perish. Brock beat his old trainer in a duel and hurried to save the Charmander. Charizard becomes a reliable member and the main means of transportation for Brock later on.

Misty
Staryu > Starmie - Starmie is a strong and reliable Pokemon. She is Misty's partner Pokemon.
Psyduck - Psyduck is the comedic relief on the team.
Poliwag > Poliwhirl - Poliwhirl came to their aid after the S.S Anne sank and led the trio to the surface. After... it decided it wanted to go with them.
Kingler - Caught on the shores of Fuchsia City when it attacked a bunch of kids. Misty calmed it down and it challenged her to a battle.

Ash vs Gary needed more build-up until the Silver conference to have the battle be more impactful, and Charizard needed some story to be the way he was. So I would have Gary have more battles with Ash, and the reason why Charmeleon became so rebellious would be because he lost to Gary's Wartortle so he lost his respect to Ash as a trainer, which then was fixed in Orange Islands arc the same way as in the Poliwrath episode. So the last battle against Blastoise actually had a meaning.

--Team Rocket would be gone after Johto--Ash and co. would then be fighting the appropriate evil team for each region.
--Contests would mirror the game rules
--Misty and Brock would be with Ash in Unova
--Ash would win Kalos, but continue challenging leagues to keep getting stronger
--The Pokemon Showcase would be replaced with Contests
--SM would follow the game plot (no school plot at all), with some elements of US/UM
--There would be a dedicated Sword/Shield arc that followed the game plot (with Misty, Brock, and Gloria making a team). Ash would still get to beat Leon...but with Misty and Brock by his side
--There would be a dedicated Pokemon Legends: Arceus arc as a prequel to D/P--it would feature a MUCH bigger and slightly more populated Hisui, with elements of martial arts series and Pokemon Conquest.
--There would be two different Pokemon series--one version would still feature Ash and co. adventuring through Paldea (where he doesn't necessarily have to battle to earn the Paldean badges), and Liko and Roy's story would be a spinoff series set in its own Pokeworld, so people would have a choice in which story they want to watch. Sometimes, the two series would cross over.

Personally i would've given the gym leaders more substantial roles and be seen much more often. The background characters would have a slightly more important role and we would see the touching returns of a few other characters, and interactions with old one off characters. I would have given the professors (other than professor oak) fun reoccurring moments at the end of each episode! I would definitely get goh and ash to meet another girl, probably in koharu's class to join them for the rest of their journeys.
