"Lovesick?" Alexis tilted her head in confusion. "But, I was fine yesterday when I saw him. How did this suddenly happen?"

--------------------------------------

"Hey, I'll come help if you get me away from Rose for a while," Kari chuckled jokingly, "I also miss your face. Come and save me?" she giggled as she shook her head. Rose looked at her rather confused before turning back over and going to sleep.

If Xavier was not in his trigger, he would have noticed that Wren was refusing to attack and he would have hesitated as well. But in his current state, he didn't come to that realization. Nor that he should consider a different strategy rather than continuing to batter at Wren's defenses. But there was no thought going on anymore, nothing but hate and passion and anger. So instead he simply continued to charge and attack, stronger and faster with each failed attempt. Xavier failed to notice that he was killing himself.

This fight had to end. Xavier's attacks were too erratic, too powerful. Wren knew that, if she continued repelling them, he'd be destroy himself. If she let up her defense, then it would mean bad news for her. That left her with an ultimatum.

When Xavier's attack connected once more, her energy began to spike as her eyes glowed. Her wings seemed to concentrate a bit, becoming less amorphous energy into a more discernible wing shape. Her white halo appeared above her head, unleashing a blinding light as she moved back away from the frenzied Nephalem.

"And finally the partner joins the dance." Xavier said tauntingly, his eyes shining and his aura glowing. He didn't even notice that his body was being torn apart by the fight. All he wanted to do was tear Wren's head from her body. Nothing else mattered. "And now you'll die." He hissed, once again charging and attacking Wren with incredible force.

"No. I won't," Wren said, her voice echoing across the field. Lifting her hand, she summoned forth another defensive surge, blocking his attack. Her body began to glow brightly, covering itself in a cloak of white and golden energy before she let loose a powerful, radial blast of energy in all directions around her - this blast contained not only her own energy, but Xavier's momentum and strength as well.

It was enough to cause a shockwave to erupt from the aftermath, filling the immediate area with a gale of force.

The blast caught Xavier head on and sent him flying into a tree at a speed that broke the sound barrier. The sheer force of the collision knocked all ability to fight out of him. He struggled up to his feet, only to fall again. Xavier growled, sounding almost feral, as he managed to get a grip of his swords and get up onto his knees. But he could not stand.

Wren was still standing, staring at Xavier. Then, she started walking toward him, her blade dragging on the ground. She didn't have the energy or strength to lift it - that last attack was her absorbing Xavier's final bombardment into herself. Her Celestial essence faded, and the pain came full force. Thus, she dropped the weapon to the ground when she neared the Nephalem, dropping to her knees with a hiss.

And she hugged him. Tightly.

Being still in his trigger form, Xavier's first thought was that his foe had left herself vulnerable. He lifted his blades and slowly brought them up towards Wren's neck. He hesitated, his eyes flickering between their normal and his demonic state. "Why can't I..." He murmured as his hands trembled. "I mean after everything you've done... everything you did to me and the Infernals and everyone else. I want to... but I can't." Xavier sighed, opening his hands. His blades fell gently to the ground as he came out of his trigger state. Xavier was back to normal. Being able to think again, the truth hit him like a ton of bricks. "It wasn't you. Oh god what a fool I've been." He said bluntly before returning Wren's embrace, holding her tightly as the waves of pain from his injuries cascaded over him.

"I think we can come out now," Ken pointed out dryly, he had been watching the fight and had been pulled back by Don every time he tried to charge in and stop them. Once it ended though he brushed him off and stood up. "Are you guys done tearing this family apart!" he called out as he walked towards the two of them, with Don only hesitantly standing up as Ken walked to them. "Sheesh, I mean that fight was fucking boss but you guys really need to lay off."

Wren didn't respond to either of them. She had already lost consciousness when she settled into the hug with Xavier.

"Did you snap out of it now?" Don asked Xavier as he walked towards them, glancing at an unconscious Wren. "Don't get mad at Ken for appearing suddenly, I forced him to come here."

"Yeah my legs hurt," Ken groaned, shaking his left leg a little.

"Anyways, we should take her somewhere where she can rest up," Don suggested.

"All right, since you two are beat up I'll carry miss Wren and Don can carry you," Ken added as he strettched his arms.

Xavier stood up shakily, nodding as he picked up Wren bridal style and handed her to Ken. He wrapped a limp arm around Don's shoulder. "If anyone asks, we fell down the stairs." Xavier muttered.

"You know that excuse never works right?" Don pointed out, letting out a soft chuckle.

"You never know, the stairs could've known kickboxing." Ken countered.

"Well... in so many words," Josiel chuckled a bit at the girl's naivete. "It's more of a chemical reaction."

The trip back to the house had been much shorter than it normally would have been. When they got there, they were greeted with the presence of a rather worried Amber.

"Where'd you guys go?! Why are you so banged up?!" The girl was rather surprised at how injured both Wren and Xavier were when they returned. "Did the Valkyries attack again?!"

Wren was still out cold. Her body was steadily trying to recover itself - it would take a while without a dedicated healer. Concordia was still extraordinarily busy these days, so it wasn't going to be an easy fix.

"Damn..." Will said entering the room and seeing the wounded group. "You guy's don't look so good. I know supernatural beings tend to recover faster then humans, but Wren in particular doesn't look like she's going to get better anytime soon."

"But I don't get it...why did everything suddenly change?" Alexis asked, never having felt this way before. It was rather frightening to her at first, especially since she looked up to Emmanuel. She never had these kinds of emotions around the men in the house, but then again, she was never around them all that much.

--------------------------------------

The strong smell of blood had Rose jumping out of bed and running downstairs. That was when she saw Wren and Xavier. She was rather shocked, and many mixed emotions with seeing Xavier again. Without saying a word, she had picked up Xavier.

"I'll take him to my room for now," she announced with an emotionless tone and expression, "He can rest there. Kari and I can be tending to his wounds." with that, she quietly took him up to her room. When Kari saw the condition that Xavier's body was in, she gasped rather nervously and ran to the nearest towel closet and grabbed some wash cloths. With the wash cloths, she began to soak them in the bathroom sink before making her way back to the room. Rose had laid Xavier down on the bed and examined his wounds. "What the hell were you thinking?"

"Eh. She'll be fine." Kei affirmed with a dry chuckle, rather unconcerned with Wren's injuries.

"Fell down some stairs. Sharp, deadly stairs." Xavier said after a few moments. He sounded exhausted. Closing his eyes, he sighed. "Wren did too. Damn stairs."

"They knew kickboxing!" Ken exclaimed, even though even he knew that their excuse wasn't convincing anyone.

"Anyways, just help us get Wren's own wounds tended to Kei," Don stated as he turned to Kei.

"You know you are a horrible liar right?" Rose spoke, her emotions slowly starting to show, "So why did you come back? Don told me about you and April. Did you come back to tell me we're through? If you didn't want me, you should've said something instead of leaving me to run off with your ex--"

"Rose," Kari interrupted, "Now is not the time. Can you not see his injuries? Besides, this is not what he needs right now."

"Oh he needs to hear this." The red haired vampire growled.
