"Is he in trouble?" She inquired, frowning a little bit.
Raku was sitting in the basement, her eyes glued to a laptop she had found in the lab. "Damn.. Guess the mortal world is completely clueless about it, too.."
"I doubt it," Hades said. "A force that powerful cannot be in any sort of turmoil. I believe he was sending us a message. Something important is maybe locked away... or attempting to free itself."
--
Persephone sat in Hades' study, her eyes closed. It had taken only a second to pinpoint Xavier's mother using telekinetic mind link. "Astra. Your son. Get him before he scares the Shades with his... emotions."
Astra blinked twice. "Persephone." She said quietly to herself. "I haven't talked to you in... it has to be a thousand years." Astra muttered. "What did he do now." She stood up from her chair. "I'm on my way."
"Yes, it's good to hear from you too," Persephone said. Her voice was actually genuine despite her normal countenance; she and Astra were close in the old days. "Your son was swept by the Underworld patrol after fighting at the party. He's bound. And he's fighting with a Vampire girl."
Truth be told, Persephone didn't send Xavier to the Fields of Punishment for the simple fact that he was Astra's child. Even then, Concordia's influence kept her from imprisoning them all.
However, Persephone's nerves were being worked. And that often transcended any emotional connections she had with anyone. "Get him before he is thrown into Tartarus."
"That is unknown. We can only understand if we investigate further," Hades stated. "Keep it in mind. It's also time for you to leave."
Astra sighed. "Tell me that he at least handled himself well in the fight." She muttered, pinching the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes for a moment. "And thanks. I owe you one." She said before going downstairs.
"Is something the matter?" Her husband asked.
"Our son got himself imprisoned in the underworld. Only reason that he's not in serious shit is that Persephone and Hades are close friends."
"Do I want to know?" He asked with a playful grin.
"Oh come on its nothing like that." She chuckled. "I worked with him in the old days. And she and I were close." Astra explained quickly, grabbing a jewel encrusted sword off the wall.
"Tribute?" He asked rather perceptively.
"Close enough." She quipped. "When I get back, you and him need to have a long talk about why he needs to not fight with that vampire whore in public."
"Because its beneath him." He rolled his eyes. This was an old argument in the house.
"Precisely." Astra said before sweeping out of the house.
Persephone crossed her legs, closing her eyes. The entire meeting with the gods while the fight happened had been rather draining. Hades' displacement of time allowed them to convene for more than five hours on a variety of issues, all of which dealing with the survival of the Godkin and the state of the world at large. Now, with more than a few things running through her mind, she was forced to bring everything into cohesion. Her husband and her had a lot of work to do.
For now, she would have to meet Astra to get her child out of the Underworld. So, she disappeared, planning to meet the Infernal when she entered the Underworld.
Astra had decided to take her time arriving just a bit. She wanted her son to cool off in hell for a bit. Once again she was rather annoyed with him as he was acting far beneath his station. He was of high class stock, the child of a woman who was once one of the Infernal's greatest warriors. Not some common kid who could go around bickering with some lower class trash in public.
Eventually she arrived. It hadn't been long enough where she didn't know where to find her old friend. "Persephone." She put on a smile. She was happy to see her after so long. "I'm glad to be back here after all these years. Wish it was a social call though."
"You know I just realized something," Don pointed out, shock and a little bit of fear going through his face as he looked at Wren. "What if Xavier's mom gets involved? I wouldn't be surprised if these guys knew her."
Persephone offered only a slight smile before gesturing her head back to the hall. "He's in there. His comrades are there, too."
Wren only sighed. "That'd be fun," the sarcasm in her voice was evident. Bearing the burden of Liruliniel - sans the powers that made her such - had been grating her for a long time. Most Infernals with any sense of presence knew of the Valkyries, and chances are they knew of Liruliniel.
The theory that if you spoke or thought of the devil then you incur their appearance suddenly seemed to be truthful for her. Wren watched as both Persephone and Xavier's mother approached the building. "Oh, good."
"I kind of feel like I jinxed us just then," Don sighed to himself as he saw Astra and Persephone walk towards them. "Hello Ms. Astra," he said respectfully with a little beat of fear due to remembering his training sessions with Xavier.
Astra raised an eyebrow at this. "I'm surprised they're still here." She mused, mostly to herself. "Is your husband around?" She asked, trying to move the subject away from her son. Of course, that didn't last. She smiled, seemingly amused, when she saw her son's friend and sparring partner. "Donald." She greeted him cordially. "I hope you're continuing your training." Wren was next. For just a moment Astra's grin fell, replaced with a demonic snarl. And then the smile was back. She leaned forward to whisper in the girl's ear. "Makeup and a name change can't hide you Liruliniel." She looked back at Persephone. "In the hall correct?" She asked before walking inside.
As Astra and Persephone walked off to meet with Xavier Don turn towards her, pocketing his hands as he pondered to himself whether he should ask what was on his mind. "Wren can I ask something?"
Kei had warped back to her friends in time to see Astra. The demigod tilted her head to the side, examining the Infernal with her singular iris. She seemed more confused than anything. "Traditus sum, valde confusi videbantur." She muttered in Latin.
Xavier looked up from his drink when he heard the door open to the hall. "Oh fuck me." He muttered under his breath when he saw who it was.
"You can't go one night without causing a scene and getting yourself locked up." Astra was doing her best not to shout.
"I didn't start the fight Mom. A couple of shifters tried to sucker punch me so I took them out. One hit for each too."
Astra cracked a smile. "I didn't mean the fight. I meant the incessant bickering with that vampire whore of yours." Back to annoyed. Xavier rolled his eyes.
"I also didn't start that. She's paranoid and needy and crazy and..."
"The lesser species are known for giving into their baser instincts." Astra mused.
"So would you rather I hooked up with Li-" Xavier started to joke.
"Not funny." Astra rolled her eyes. It was quite clear which parent Xavier got his strong eyeroll game from. "But yes. Not to mention your father would approve as well." Xavier was confused now.
"So are we going?" He asked.
"Soon. I need to settle the case of your incarceration with Persephone and Hades." Astra smiled. "It should only take a moment."
'What's the whole Liliruniel deal about?" Don asked curiously, leaning against the wall. "Your sister mentioned the name while Xavier and I were captured, I know it's your old valkyrie name but I don't really know the full story behind it," he said in a low voice, glancing towards the roof before looking at her. "If it's too much then I don't mind if you don't tell me but I can't believe everyone would still take all those things to heart after so long."
Rose just stood there, listening to everything that was being said. She felt her eyes watering as she clenched her fists. Did he not care that she could hear him? Is this what he really thought of her? Quietly she shook her head as she looked at her boyfriend.
"Is that what you really think of me?" she just questioned him, "Just... forget it. We're done." she also knew his mother would be pleased to hear that. Without saying another word, she walked outside and began sobbing. She was clearly a fool for thinking he really did care about her.
Astra and Xavier looked at each other for a long moment. Xavier simply sighed and lit a cigarette. He took a long draw from it and looked at his mother. "Are you happy now?" He asked bitterly.
"Do you want the honest answer to that question or not?" She asked him rather coldly.
"That tells me all I need to know." He spat, taking a sip of his drink. Xavier considered his situation for a long moment. "I had forgotten she was in the room when you came in." He muttered bitterly mostly to himself.
"Not that it would have mattered. Vampires have rather keen hearing. She would have heard you from outside anyways." Astra pointed out. "Plus, you said it, not me. I didn't prompt you into it."
"Mom, you called her a whore." Xavier rolled his eyes, knowing that his mother would both see the point and also ignore it.
"Again, you said it, not me. If you said it, there has to be something in there that makes the perception true." Astra mused.
"Mom. We've been fighting. People say things they don't entirely mean when they fight." Xavier sighed. "Even if it wasn't going to work out... I didn't want it to go down like that."
"If the desired outcome is reached why does it matter how it came about?" Astra was clearly trying to steer her son.
"Because now everyone is going to think I'm a dick." Xavier sighed. "Yeah I can be a bit needy and yeah maybe I am a bit spoiled... but I have standards."
"Of course you do. Your father and I raised you to have a certain... demeanor. Not to mention class."
"And calling a girl paranoid and needy and crazy to her face is not classy." Xavier protested.
"It is not." Astra agreed with the point. "Now I'm going to go find Hades, settle up your bail and then you and I are going to go out for ice cream." Xavier raised an eyebrow. His mother was most definitely up to something. She leaned over and gently kissed his cheek before sweeping out of the hall, whistling to herself. Xavier sunk into his chair with his drink and his cigarette.
"God my mother is a conniving bitch." He muttered under his breath.
