When Kari saw Xavier return, she looked to him and frowned.

"You wanna try and get some rest? I'll let you know when she wakes up," she offered when she heard a slight whimper from Rose. Quickly turning around, she saw the vampriss slowly opening her eyes and regaining consciousness. It took her a few minutes to fully awaken, but when she did, Alexis stood up from her seat, allowing Xavier to sit there.

"Emmanuel, she's awake now," Alexis spoke through her mind link.

"Hey, sis," Kari spoke softly, "How are you feeling?"

"I've had better days," the red head answered honestly, "But...how did you find me?"

"Vision," she stated simply, "I also called Eira and when she hadn't heard from you, I knew something was wrong."

"I only went there to clear my head and because that's where I always went before. I never seen chimera there until tonight."

"Tonight? You've been out for like three days."

"Oh..." that's when she saw Xavier there, "Why are you here?"

"He saved you."

"Why? It's clear I mean nothing to him."

"Well, I think that's what you two need to talk about..." Kari spoke as she and Alexis slowly backed out of the room.

Concordia's presence in the unconscious girl's room, while soothing, did not permanently keep away the monsters lurking within the darkest recesses of her breaking mind; one of such being Evangeline. Kei began to thrash and writhe in her sleep, the kanji marking the base of her collarbone beginning to glow. Pluto, her little dracolich friend, nudged the squirming demigod with what could be considered a look of concern. It was hard to tell, given that undead creatures generally lacked the ability to express emotions physically.

Xavier glanced furtively to the door, realizing that he was left to his fate. "I thought I was going to have more time to prepare for this conversation." He admitted sheepishly as he looked down at Rose. She would be able to see the bags under his eyes and the stubble that covered his normally clean-shaven face. He was a mess, but at least he had washed the blood away. "But we just got back from that whole Axis ordeal about half an hour ago..." He mused, realizing that he was dodging the conversation. "What happened to you in Wales was entirely my fault. For that I am truly sorry. From the bottom of my heart." He sighed. "What happened a few days ago... it's a sin I never should have committed." He glanced out the window for a moment. "I'm not a good person. I never have been. I can certainly put on the act with the best of them. But I'm a lush and a lecher and well... my demonic side makes appearances when I least expect it to." He was rambling, the sleep deprivation had left him in a somewhat lucid state. At best. "I know it's weird to say it and I know you're not going to believe it, but what happened with that doesn't change what I've always felt about you. I mean it's one of those things. We were on a break and I'd been drinking and I was frustrated with how things between you and I had gone and she just came into my room at the wrong time and said the wrong thing and acted the wrong way. If I could do it all over again, it never would have happened."

Rose just quietly listened as she saw the Nephalem begin to slowly fall apart. That evil part of her was rather amused, but it was quickly erased with concern. She could tell he wasn't quite himself, and really wondered if what he was saying was true.

"I...I don't even know what to say," she spoke honestly, "I don't even know if I can trust you anymore. Forgive you? I can forgive, but it's going to be hard for me to move past this. I'm not sure what you even thought when you read my letter, but I really did mean every word I said. I should hate you, but I can't. I'm probably crazy and stupid but even after this, I still love you. I tried so hard to be angry at you, but I realized that I couldn't be. It was my fault that all of this happened to begin with."

Xavier sighed. That letter made his betrayal so much worse. "And I never stopped loving you." He whispered after a moment. "And you can't say that it's entirely your fault. We share the blame because I could have handled things so much better on my end, I see that now." He sighed. "It's just a travesty that it took you almost dying for me to really realize what I did. What my actions and words had wrought." He looked down and gently brushed a loose strand of hair out of Rose's face. "Trust is one of those things that has to be earned, it shouldn't just be given." Xavier remarked. "And well I can't blame you for losing that..." He paused. "But I don't know where we go from here. If we go anywhere at all."

When Rose felt Xavier move the strand of hair from her face, she gently grabbed his hand and held onto it. It calmed her just to feel his touch again but she was afraid. She wanted nothing more than to try this again, but she was afraid of being hurt again. She knew what her heart wanted but was it also what his heart wanted?

"I'm willing to give this another shot, but it will take me time to trust you again," she spoke honestly, "We'd have to work hard at this and not let our rash decisions and emotions get in the way like they did. To be honest, I'm scared I'll lose you again."

Xavier considered this for a long moment. He didn't want to speak without giving himself just a little bit of time to consider what he was going to say next. "It sounds bad to say it, but seeing you get knocked around by the chimera... it made me realize what I'd been taking for granted and what a fool I've been." He admitted. "I don't think I need to go into detail about what happened but suffice to say that the beast ended up as less than a pile of ashes after I got done with it... rage and desperation is a powerful motivator." Once again he realized he was skipping the point. "As for you and I... how we felt about each other was never the problem. It was all the other stuff. We both have to just take it slow, take it calm... not lash out. I know I'm guilty of it." Xavier sighed. "As for trust, you take the time you need. If everything else works, that will come back in time I think."

"Yup," Rose smiled slightly, "I think that was one of our main issues, just being in the heat of the moment. I admit it too, but if you want to try this again from the beginning, then I'll gladly have you."

"And I you." Xavier said with a gentle smile. "They do say that the brightest flames burm the fastest. I think we learned from that though. I know I did."

"Most definitely," The red haired vampriss smiled softly, "Also, as much as I would like you to stay, I think you need some sleep. I mean, I'd let you stay here if you're too tired to make it to your room." she giggled slightly, as it was the first time in a long time since that had happened.

A scream tore itself from Kei's lungs, the demigod having been ripped from her nightmares and back into reality. Gasping for air, she looked around frantically, her eyes landing on Concordia. Almost immediately, she covered her left eye, fearing she'd lose her hold on her accumulating insanity. She immediately discovered that her head was throbbing painfully, making it increasingly hard to think. The idea of falling back to sleep at first was comforting, but images almost instantly flooded her conscience. Especially those of Evangeline, which had the girl shivering.

Lorenzo was standing outside of Kei's room, he knew that there was no way he could properly help her but he had nothing else to do and figured it'd be good to be there just in case something happened.

Don had gone back to his room as soon as they got back, he changed out of his clothes and let himself fall to his bed, his thoughts still stuck on Lillith and what had happened when she appeared.

Xavier heard Kei scream, but it was faint due to the sheer distance and the number of walls. "Poor kid has had a long day." He said faintly before yawning loudly. Xavier smiled, realizing that Rose would probably think it was a fake melodramatic yawn that was just serving as an excuse to stay over. But he was actually exhausted and he also realized it wasn't like the pair needed excuses for that kind of thing anymore. "I think that answers that question." He muttered, kicking off his shoes and sliding off his shirt, revealing a couple new scars for the collection, courtesy of Kei. He got into Rose's bed carefully so he didn't disturb the healing process.

Upon noticing Xavier's new scars, she frowned. Did the chimera inflict such scars? It was highly unlikely though given how Xavier had described it's fate. She felt it was wise not to ask questions just yet though. For now, she would just enjoy his company.

Xavier closed his eyes, about to fall asleep, when his phone rang. He sighed, knowing what this was going to be about. Rolling over a bit, he picked it up of the nightstand. "Mother." Xavier said flatly.

"Were you going to just let me wait until you felt like calling me. After you picked a fight with an archdemon and met with the Winter King." Astra didn't sound amused.

"Mom, I'm fine." Xavier muttered, clearly irritated by the call. "Everyone is fine. We're back at the house."

"That's not the point." Astra remarked. "You could have at least called me back you know."

"You're right Mom, I'm sorry." Xavier rolled his eyes. He was not in the mood for this debate.

"I'm glad you are all okay. Did you finish the job?" Astra asked even though she knew that they did. Not because of any confirmation but because if things had gone wrong, she would have known by now.

"Of course. I'm not the type to leave something unfinished." Xavier mused before yawning.

"You haven't slept in days have you. Since Wales." Astra muttered, irritated by this.

"Yeah. Which is what I'm trying to do right now." Xavier quipped. Of course, he didn't mention whose bed he was in. Even if setting his mother off would have been quite amusing.

"I get it. We'll talk tomorrow about dinner." Astra said before hanging up. Xavier breathed out a sigh of relief before putting his phone back down.

"Eyes in the back of her head I swear." He muttered as he closed his eyes again.

Emmanuel had come through the door calmly, walking through the home. A small glance into the room with Bob told him that the creature was busy. Thus, he continued on to Rose's room.

Then, he saw Xavier sitting there. It didn't take a genius to know that he would need to stay out until things were sorted.

Concordia stared down at Kei for a moment before smiling a bit. "Enjoy your nap?"

Alexis had actually conked out on her bed, her glasses still left on. She was mentally and physically exhausted, but she hoped she made Emmanuel proud. Of course, she was too exhausted to even think of anything Kari had mentioned earlier.

-----------------

When Rose noticed Emmanuel walk in, she motioned him in.

"It's fine," she spoke up, "You may come in."

"No." She replied in a flat tone, searching for her medical eyepatch. "Gods, my head hurts.. Not like my dreams are helping the situation."

Don was shuffling through his phone, wondering what he could do. He wasn't falling asleep due to everything that was on his mind but he didn't really have anyone to talk to either at the moment.

Hearing Kei speak from inside the room Lorenzo, discreetly stuck his head in, noticing she had woken up. "Well at least she's doing okay, uncle Hades won't have to kill me now," he muttered to himself.

Concordia seemed to almost giggle. "Well, that will happen when you bare yourself to the world without a safety net," she said. "You young ones always do. One day, you'll learn to keep your emotions in check.

--

Emmanuel entered Rose's room, walking over to her. He gave her a small smile before starting to examine her. "How are you feeling? Any signs of pain or fatigue?"
