"Did you really have to drag me along?" A young man said rather annoyed.

However, the young man in question looked a little unusual. His skin was olive toned, and he had shaggy chestnut hair that was waist length and rather unkept. Other then a pair of leather breeches made from animal hide that came down to his mid shin, he wore nothing else, being shirtless and bare foot. He was slender, but very muscular and toned, and he carried himself in a casual fashion.

Brushing his long hair out of his eyes with his hand, he was finally spoke up again.

"What is it were here to do again?"

After getting everybody's drink orders, Xavier left the dining room and joined his father in the kitchen. He smiled at the massive spread of meat, fish, pasta, sauces and various other things that the Celestial had been working on. "It always amazes me how you cook for so many." Xavier remarked as he slid behind the fully-stocked bar and got to work. It was easy enough since most of his friends had just stuck with wine or water and he knew how Don took his drinks from training. Popping open a couple bottles of red, he struggled to figure out what to say next.

"I didn't think your mother would figure that out so quickly." Zaphiel said to his son after a long moment.

"I'm not surprised. I mean you know how she is." Xavier muttered. "That gaze of hers."

Back in the dining room, now that her boys were out of the room, Astra took over hostess duties. She was smiling brightly as she swept through the room, making sure all the plates were in order as she engaged Concordia in conversation, catching up on everything that the charges of the inn had been up to since they spoke last. Her gaze however... the only person in the room that was spared those piercing blue eyes was Don, her apprentice.

"Tell me about it." Zaphiel was chuckling as loaded everything up onto a cart.

"Dad, how do I handle this?" Xavier asked hesitantly.

"Your mother and Rose you mean." Xavier nodded at the remark. "That's not exactly easy... I mean I know you've tried to tell her..."

"She's not like April or Clara or Julia or Katherine..." Xavier muttered. "She doesn't have that fire to go against mother like that."

"I wouldn't mention that list of names in front of Rose you know." Zaphiel was more and more amused by the moment.

"Dad come on." Xavier rolled his eyes.

"Speaking of which, it was a small mercy for you that April didn't show." Xavier was grinning at this. "What did you do?"

"Bribed her with dinner and a new pair of earrings." Xavier explained and his father smirked.

"You got your mother's devious streak I see." The Celestial mused.

"I'm only still in the minors... she's in the big leagues." Xavier shot back. "Working on it though."

"You're getting far better at mixing drinks though. I remember when you had to mutter every step in the process to yourself..." Xavier groaned. "And you even got mine right for once."

"Dad I haven't gotten yours wrong in three years." The nephalem wasn't amused as he loaded everything up as well. Soon the drinks were ready to go out as well.

And then they were back in the dining room. Xavier handed out the drinks and left out the extra bottles of wine. The massive platters and plates and bowls of food quickly replaced the appetizers on the massive table. Dinner was on.

Raku took a long sip of her vodka, grinning a bit at the taste. "Damn, this is good." She then began to eat.

"Thank you," Rose spoke politely as she took a sip of the wine. A small smile grazed her face as it brought back memories. Kari just nodded and took a sip of water as she waited for any response from Oscar.

"Just to talk to a person of interest. Here to collect some data we need from him," Robert said, walking toward the doors of the bar. Once he opened it, holding the door for his younger companion to enter, his eyes were drawn to a table of hunched over males engaging in what seemed to be a private conversation. Each seemed like ordinary, thuggish-looking men.

Then, you could take one look at the gnarly looking upward tusk-like fangs coming from their mouths. Ogres - a species not really known to leave Avalon. It was surprising to even see them keeping themselves in plain sight, considering that they would typically frequent caves or wasteland areas.

"Let's find a seat. I think our friends are here," he said. His companion would know that he was talking about the ogre males; that was the primary point of their mission, after all.

"Fine then." The young man grumbled begrudgingly, clearly uncomfortable for whatever reason.

Ignoring the onlookers who were staring at his "Wild" appearance. He sat down and started resting his bare feet on the table.

Dinner actually went surprisingly well. Even though Xavier's nerves were shot now that he realized his mother knew about Rose. But Astra hadn't said a word, in fact she'd been sickeningly sweet to Rose the whole time. The nephalem had no idea what his mother was up to, but he was still on edge.

And then dessert came out, plates of pies and cakes and pastries. Xavier smiled at this, his father had truly gone all out.

"If I didn't know any better I'd say you want to fill me up before you eat me," Ken laughed, enjoying the desserts.

Rose could sense the facade that Xavier's mother was putting, but she chose to keep her manners in tact. It would be rude and most inappropriate for a scene to be caused, especially given that she was a guest. When she saw the desert come out, she couldn't help but to smile softly as she saw the food.

"Astra, may I ask you a question?" Rose spoke politely, "Why is it that you hate me so much? Anyone with eyes can tell your sickeningly sweet acts towards me are masking your true hatred or me."

Kari coughed loudly as she looked to Rose, her eyes widened. Her sister was dead for sure.

Xavier gulped. He had wanted Rose to stand up for herself, but not in front of everyone.

However, Astra was grinning at this. "Because you're a lesser species. Celestials and Infernals and demigods..." She mused, cutting herself off.

"Astra..." She heard her husband's annoyed tone and chuckled.

"Rose... Rose... Rose..." Astra stood up and walked over to the vampriss and stared her down. And then the lingering moment was over. "I didn't realize you had such conviction. Such drive. Such feelings for my son." And then the glare that Rose had always seen from Xavier's mother was gone, replaced with a truly warm look. "I had you pegged all wrong. Welcome to the family my dear." Unlike the rest of the night however, Astra's tone was cordial and even loving. She was being completely sincere. By daring to challenge her, Rose had won her respect.

"Hey Xavier," Ken muttered towards Xavier, walking over to him. 'Am I a lesser species too?" he asked, mostly out of curiosity and confusion.

Xavier blinked twice. "Oh lordy." He muttered under his breath, knowing that his mother's... he could only call it racism at this point... was now in the open. "My mother only cares about someone's species when they're dating her son." He replied in a whisper. "But yes, to her, you are a lesser species. Everything but the celestials, the infernals and the gods really." His tone made it clear that he didn't agree with Astra's thoughts on the matter.

"Oh," Ken said in realization, nodding his head. He scratched his chin for a moment as he leaned back on his seat. "All right then," he said with a smirk.

Concordia smiled when Rose spoke up. It was good to see some backbone from her, despite the issues. "Good to see all of these problems being quashed. Progressive thinking moves us forward in this day and age, after all."

Wren had no comment toward that, simply opting to stare at Astra for a moment. "Progressive thinking, huh?" She closed her eyes for a moment before taking out her phone. The supernatural network had been pinging a lot of news updates to her phone. More cannibalistic activity going on, lots of energy thrown around; that war that Tsuruko was talking about seemed to be true.

And Wren's attempts at trying to investigate them had been a bit ineffective. That part was what made her the most angry about all of this. "Damn," she muttered under her breath. She had only a few leads on the issue at hand, and no headway on any of them. Having dinner today almost felt like she was wasting valuable time.

Don glanced towards Wren, noticing she seemed frustrated about something. 'What's wrong?"

"Mind not putting your walkers on the table, yeah?" Robert said, sitting back in his seat. "Not all that pretty to look at."

--

"Huh? Oh, nothing. Just bad reception." That wasn't true at all; the cell phone reception was great there. She didn't want to bother anyone with any work related issues. "Should be fiii-AIIIIEEE!!" Wren popped up from her seat, having felt a sharp, quick but excruciatingly burning sensation come from her bottom. "What in the...?!" She said, turning to look at the chair.

"Jävla," Kei cursed out loud, startled out of her stupor by Wren's scream. "The hell was that?"

"Fine." Senri said in an annoyed tone. He hated being in places like this, he couldn't see the sky or hear the birds sing carefree songs.

"W-what?" Rose asked, quite dumbfounded as to what happened, "T-that was all it took?" this was rather shocking to the vampire, but nonetheless, the issues with Xavier's mother were behind her. When she heard Wren scream, she turned to the celestial. "Are you alright?"

Kari was still hopelessly waiting on a response from Oscar, but she felt it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. Without realizing it, Kari had began to have her 'visions' once more. The room had been stained with blood, but no one was there but herself. She was swimming in blood as the windows had blood rush in, quickly making it rise. What white that was left on the walls had "deliver me" written in blood before the walls began to bleed. Everything was suffocating in blood.

Xavier was about to tell Rose not to ask when he heard Wren's cry.

Astra raised an eyebrow. And then in a flash, she acted. "Concordia, come with me. Now." She hissed, standing up from the table in a hurry. Xavier glanced at his father, who simply shrugged. He was as lost as his son. "You too dear." This was addressed to her husband.
