"Cause you're humble, really humble," Don pointed out, taking another piece of meat and eating it. 'Really damn good cook too."

"Perhaps," the man said. "Kinship is the one of the prime aspects of sentient life, after all." he swirled his wine for moment. "Though, it's not necessarily the most stable aspect. But, I'm sure you already know that much."

Wren let out a small sound of amusement. "Flattery will get you places in life, kid."

Kari didn't want to be here any longer, and was becoming more miserable by the minute. She wanted nothing more than to go back to her room and lay down. This wasn't natural or joyous for her. She felt empty, and sad.

Rose saw Kari alone and frowned. Her sister had pushed her away, so she knew it wouldn't be wise for the two to end up arguing during a party. She just kept walking around, politely greeting people as she walked by.

Alexis was confused as she looked to Josie.

"Why would I want a man anyways?" she spoke nervously, "I mean, I like someone but that's not the point."

Xavier raised an eyebrow at 'sentient life' as this was such a weird way to put it. But he was far more curious in what the man had to say than worried about his... interesting.... phrasing choices. "Indeed. You've done your homework that's for sure. Because yes, nothing about my life is stable." He chuckled, taking a long sip of his drink and a puff of his cigar.

The man chuckled as well. "'Homework' would imply that I don't know anything about you all," he stated. "If we're being honest, I think the task of studying lies on you all. Considering the... unfortunate circumstances you've found yourselves in."

Xavier considered this carefully. He was trying to figure out just who the man was, but nothing was coming to him. "It's not entirely unexpected. We represent a challenge to the status quo. An infernal, a celestial and a halfbreed all living under one roof and not only not killing each other but ending up friends. Add in demigods and vampires and our mysterious patron..." Xavier cracked a thin smile at this. "It's funny. It's almost like this all started because I stood up for a grocery clerk who some punks were mouthing off to. Turns out they were vamps and ever since then it's been a chain of brawls." He mused. "But you are right, there's more prep to be done on our end for sure."

"I'm sure someone with your experience would know," Don replied, eating another piece of meat as he looked around. "That's not me calling you old by the way."

"Yeah, let's go," Ken stated in agreement with Amber, bringing Raku along, even with the bottle.

At Xavier's response, the male gave a small sound of commendation. "Good answer," he took a sip, lifting his glass to the moon. "To the struggles, and to those who fell to make this day possible."

--

Wren smirked a bit. "Good boy. You almost got smacked," she turned to serve one of the guests before looking back to the grill. "But thank you. I, uh... appreciate it. You're a nice boy. Not too smooth at times, but I have to say that I'm fond of you."

Xavier nodded and raised his glass up as well, acknowledging the toast before taking a long sip. "This may be a foolish question." He said quietly, not looking at his drinking companion as he spoke. "But just who are you anyways?"

"Just a free spirit. One who approves of everything you all stand for," the man responded. "And one who wants to see the revolutionary steps you all take to the very end."

Xavier smirked at this answer. "I knew I was going to get a vague answer." He said after a moment. "And I don't know if I'd exactly call us revolutionary." Xavier mused, even if he was starting to realize that in a way their ragtag bunch was actually revolutionary. "We're just standing up for what we think is right. And protecting our turf from those who would do harm."

"Change always starts in the most unexpected of places," he swirled drink more. "No matter how powerful you may be, free will trumps everything. You all proved that when you fought that vampire lord. I hope to see you do it again in against these more powerful foes."

He looked to Xavier then. "Your blood and your family won't determine your future, after all. Not for any of you."

Ken, Amber and Raku ended up finding the place where the Winter King and his wife were, including Emmanuel, Alexis and Josiel. "Oh hey Alexis," Ken greeted her once they walked into the area before looking towards the Winter King. "It's great to see you again sir."

"Thanks," Don said with a smile, finishing his plate. "It really means a lot. Now, at least let me help you serve."

"I wouldn't go tell my mother that last part." Xavier quipped before he could stop himself. "But you're right. I admit it's both exciting and nerve wracking. I feel like we are on the precipice of something monumental. And it's time for us to tip the scales." He sighed. "As a half-breed I was expected to hide myself, to be a pariah. But I've come to realize that I should own it. I challenge my fate."

Kringle gave the group a smile when they approached. "Ah, welcome. I do hope that your party is going well for you as of right now?"

The Queen regarded the two of them with a serene smile. "A pleasure, young human and vampire," she said to Ken and Amber.

--

"Nope," Wren simply responded to Don, picking up a plate and carrying it to a group of party-goers.

Concordia looked around the party for a moment before she took out her cellphone. When she connected to Astra, she spoke. "Hello, Astra. Will you and Zaphael be attending this party?"

--

"Because, men are fun," Josiel said, poking Alexis' cheek. "So much fun to be with in every possible way, ya know?"

--

The male simply smirked a bit at the talk of his mother. "Your fate is only set in stone if you choose. It's good that you're willing to fight. It's funner that way," he said, taking another sip. "I feel as though my time here may be at an end... keep yourselves in check."

With that, the male disappeared in an instant, leaving Xavier on the hillside by himself.

"Turn around." Astra instructed her friend before hanging up the phone. Standing behind Concordia were the infernal and celestial in question, both looking rather amused.

Xavier chuckled at the sudden disappearance of his conversation partner. "Never did get a name or any clue from him. Not surprising." He muttered, staring off into space once more. He needed to reflect on what had been said. The man knew too much for any of that conversation to be mere happenstance.

"I knew you were there when you appeared, darling," Concordia turned around with a smile. And apparently so did Bob, because he had been behind them as well. "Calm down Bob, they're not here to cause a scene."

"MMM," the entity's voice rumbled and he shrunk into the shadows of the hedge maze.

Concordia looked to his retreating form before looking to Astra and Zaphael. "Didn't really think you could sneak up on me in my domain, did you?"

"Of course not." Zaphael said with a smile.

"Certainly hope I couldn't." Astra said, her eyes scanning the area for her son.

"Who's this?" Zaphael glanced at Bob for a moment.

"Apparently they named him Bob." Astra remarked dryly, she having met Bob once before. "And he doesn't like me apparently."
