Xavier chuckled. "Not for himself. The secret is that with a girl like her... if he were to hand her an exquisitely made martini... I'd demonstrate myself but then..." He smiled. "Regardless. It would benefit him."

Nicolette simply sighed. Being with... non-humans was interesting. It would take a bit longer to get used to. "Do we have any ideas where to go? Or are we just gonna walk around with our hands on our arse?"

"You need to..." Kei trailed off, touching down seamlessly to the ground in her spirit form. "Need to....run." She struck her scythe down into the ground, six of her legionnaires rising up from the dry soil. The undead soldiers grunted, drawing cursed weapons as they waited for a command.

"...Below.." she muttered, her cursed eye staying affixed to the cracked earth.

"...Below our feet.." she began again, her normal eye raising to bore into Nicolette's hesitant figure. "..You don't mean to tell me you can't feel them...? Their giddiness is palpable in the air... the malicious excitement I can sense is almost suffocating.."

The cursed eye twitched, burning with a brighter flame than before.

"You know what's the easiest emotion to sense, though?"

It eventually refocused itself on the ground.

"The intent to kill, of course.."

Wren's gaze went to the ground.

It was silent for a moment.

Then, almost immediately, a loud crash from behind the group made her turn. From the ground, three large draconic lizards hissed as they charged the five of the them.

Wren's scythe was in her hand in an instant, blocking the charge of one of the lizards. She spun the blade, attempting to slice into the beast's neck. While she succeeded, it was clear their skin would make continued attacks more difficult than they needed to be.

The other two lizards took to attacking the group together, going in at them as three more exited the hole to join the fray.

Below the surface, when the loud explosion occurred, the crystals in the area around the group would begin to light up in response.

Then, they rose, revealing to themselves to be the hides of wingless dragons. The crystal beasts, numbered at four, all hissed. One made to attack, curling into a ball before it sent itself rocketing at the group with the intent to impale them.

The other four followed behind, ready to bite and cleave at them.

(OOC: Control your own lizard mooks.)

Nicolette rose her rifle up, steadily holding the firearm in her hands and resting it against her shoulder. She began to fire at one of the lizards like a maniac; this would be the first time anyone in the group actually saw her fight. Nicolette never held back. It was her way of letting off steam.

The lizard was hit by these shots, but Nicolette soon noticed the same thing Wren did: this creature wouldn't go down without a fight. Just as Nicolette began to reload her rifle, the lizard took this opportunity to lunge at the young woman's arm. She barely managed to dodge in time, but her tank did little to protect bare skin. The lizard scraped against her arm, leaving a long, bloody cut.

Irritated by this, Nicolette continued to shoot. She took closer aim at the lizard's head and managed to get a few blows in.

Wasting not even a single moment, Kei began calling out commands to her legionnaires. All entirely in Latin.

"Nulla misericordia! Da illis partem, non; occide, et dracones, obsecro te!" At her call, the skeletal warriors charged at one of the drakes, whittling down its defenses, slowing it down for the demigoddess to attack.

Kei narrowed her eyes, putting away her scythe and taking out her stygian blade in its stead. She began to launch vicious slashes at its hide, the magical enchantments scoring bright green runes across its formidable scales.

~

"God damnit all," Raku growled, holding her massive scissor blade in a reverse grip as she rushed the nearest beast, partying and redirecting one of its counter slashes' force back onto the monster.

Xavier drew his blades. "Wonder what it was that woke them up," he spun them in front of himself, making to block parry the charge of one of the beasts. A second slash sent a wave of ice that coursed over its back, and a third sent a wave of fire to explode on contact with the ice. That seemed to do a bit of damage, as the lizard found itself thrown into the wall by the force of the attack.

---

Wren watched Nicolette with wide eyes, then turned back to her own lizard. She had been worried that the girl would need protection, but it turned out that she did just fine out here. That would make this much easier.

She slammed her scythe into the ground, sending a kick into the teeth of the lizard. It went flying, crashing through another one of its brethren. Then, she rocketed at it, spinning in midair as she arced a number of well-placed slashes into its hide. When she was behind it, she turned her hand back to send a blast of energy that would explode down on it.

All of that was enough to down one of them. That was telling of how difficult this would be for her. "Dammit," she said under her breathe. Then, she launched herself at another lizard, ready to attack.

Luckily, they weren't very smart, it seemed.

One of the lizards lunged for Nicolette's rifle. However, she just shot at it - multiple times. The creature fell to the ground in one fell swoop. While the young woman was distracted by the scene in front of her, a lizard jumped from behind, instantly knocking her to the ground. She was still human, after all. Her rifle was thrown a few feet away, right out of her grasp.

"Get...!" she exclaimed, attempting to kick it off.

Narrowing her good eye at the drake that had managed to down Nicolette, Kei rushed the creature with her blade, moving unnaturally fast as she solidified all at once to deal a flurry of stabs and uppercuts with the enchanted blade. Her legionnaires were busy fighting off another lizard, whom was currently being buried by the small band of undead soldiers.

Nicolette watched Kei fight the lizard off in shock. Her speed was incredible. "Thank you," she breathed out, still quite shaken by what happened.

Don frowned as two lizards came charging at him. He jumped aside, managing to dodge a swipe from one of the lizards before throwing his fist forward and sending it flying. As he did this though the other lizard latched onto his back, slashing at his chest and making him wince and growl in pain as it opened gashes on his skin. He ran against the wall, slamming the lizard on his back against it before he turned around, his arm changing into its sword form as he slashed the lizard in half.

Once the lizard was off, Nicolette went straight for her rifle. She successfully picked it back up, and soon began fighting off more of the lizards. Hopefully there weren't much more.

Alexis saw the lizards and began absorbing the darkness from the others' shadows before firing it off at one of them that was attacking Wren. She then spread her wings, readying herself for flight if she needed to.

----------------------------

Rose just readied her fangs as she grabbed her sword. It was the sword that Astra had gifted her. She saw the wingless dragons coming at her. She just stared them down before charging straight into battle.
