    Ron Johnson was a running back who played for the University of Michigan and the New York Giants. He was the first African American to be the captain of a Michigan football team. He set an NCAA record by rushing for 347 yards in a game and set Big Ten records with 92 points scored and 1017 rushing yards. He also set Michigan records with 2,524 career rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns in a season, and 139.1 rushing yards per game in 1968.

He would leave the series after the first movie, intending it to be the series finale, but he would later return to be the executive producer of the second.

    I remember the first episode I saw happened to be the third episode ("Jellyfishing/Plankton!"), then I saw the real first episode ("Help Wanted/Reef Blower/Tea at the Treedome") a week later while on vacation in 1999, at a hotel.
