If I can burn it into the minds of those against the R/S remakes one last time...... SOUL. DEW.

...

Now I am finished with that.

Three letters for that:

P-B-R

Clearly didn't need a Lati@s associated event to get that item early in Gen IV even disregarding transferring. The Dream World has artwork for it so there's another venue of distribution for Gen V. HgSs showed they didn't need to be associated with the Hoenn region so any Wii game can get people the Lati@s.

The item itself wasn't even widely available in Gen III >_>

I completely forgot about the Soul Dew being in PBR. Still, I honestly hope that it doesn't return this time.

I think that is just a spin-off.
3rd version of Generation V must be for DS and also the RSE remakes. Why? Because all generations started and ended in the same console or am I wrong? (Considering that variations of Gameboy, except Advance, are the same console)

Whether or not R/S remakes will happen, this game is most likely a spin-off game. Maybe a new Ranger game? Or a new series altogether?

I just hope it isn't another Dash or PokéPark.

I wants my Mystery Dungeon with Arceus for once (Sure the one WiiWare title in japan has it, but that's the problem, it's japan only). I'm also curious to see how the Unova legends will be in such a game.

Edit: PokePark is awesome when you compare it to the other Pikachu games. It's the best one by far. Hey You Pikachu and Channel were among the worst, Dash is somewhere in the middle, and PokePark is actually above average since you play as Pikachu in a more adventure like game. You can even beat up a Groudon and Darkrai in it for crying out loud.

Doesn't really count.
Why doesn't it count? Colosseum and XD were the only non-event ways to obtain the Ganlon, Petaya, Salac and Apicot Berries, and even in Generation IV, PBR only the Pokéwalker to contend with (and it still had the Lansat, Starf and Enigma berries to itself).

Obviously, Outrage was implying that either the new Wii game or the Dream World could take care of the Soul Dew, which would be even more appropriate than what PBR did.

If there is a method involving transfering it over from the past generation, it doesn't really count as you can also use the previous gen's events to get the item. With items no longer able to be transfered to the 5th Gen, this means events will have to be done all over again.

Yeah, assuming you had:

1) The Eon ticket which if I've gotten my facts straight was only available for a limited time threw Nintendo Power Magazine.

2) An e-Reader, which was a commercial flop in North America, meaning that there would be even less people with an e-reader.

While you could mix records to get it, the lack of WiFi meant that the Eon ticket was pretty much secluded. Sure you can use the previous gen's events, but here's the thing, they're events, which means they have a low distribution, and to add onto that, a Gen III event which required a device that was a commercial flop. So the only people getting the Soul Dew were the same people who had it already in early Gen III. Now think about how much more people Gen IV drew in, yet you say PBR doesn't count? The Eon ticket's distribution is practically negligible in comparison.

The PBR point was that you didn't need RSE to redistribute Soul Dew.

Just repeating your point which doesn't change the fact that items introduced in Gen III weren't available in the main series games, yet your whole basis for RSE remakes is that they somehow need to redo the past events to include an item not introduced in that generation.

Other than what Silktree said, there's a couple more logical fallacies present, in that items don't really take priority over Pokémon. Let's say they want to have Lati@s events. They don't need to restrict themselves to the original method (i.e. RS/RS remake games) to distribute them, as Gen III, which had NO CONNECTIVITY AT ALL to past generations did not need GS remakes to make Ho-Oh, the legendary beasts, the Johto starters and MANY other Gen II Pokemon available.

No, Generation III didn't need GS remakes. Instead, though, it released remakes for Generation I, and put more Johto Pokemon in Emerald's Safari Zone.

Wait, will 3DS games be compatible to the older DSes? I wasn't planning on buying the 3DS. x:

No, but there might be DS games with 3DS-exclusive features.

Actually that depends. We don't know exactly what the 3DS game is now. Even though most of us agree that Gray will be on the DS, it could very well be what's on the 3DS instead. Sure, the idea of having 1 pair of versions on the DS and the other on the 3DS is a bit off for a gen, but given how Nintendo consoles tend to have their main franchise debut really early, what better method than Gray? The 3DS's wireless settings are compatible with those of the DS and DSi, so that's a possibility there.

I'm just hoping that the new game is a R/S Remake or Mystery Dungeon sequel. Otherwise, I probably won't get the game. :x (With Pokemon "Gray" being completely out of question atm)

Oh, and if 3DS games AREN'T compatible with the regular DS ones... I will be PISSED. I won't be able to trade between Black and "Gray"(?) meaning NOT BEING ABLE TO USE SCRAGGY AS A STARTER. T_T

Dude, I just said it IS compatible with the DS and DSi (In terms of hardware that is). Quit worrying about it, as Game Freak doesn't appear to want to have to do that again.

I doubt that Game Freak would ever go and ruin backwards compatibility between newer and older games as long as the systems has it possible. :p

Noooo. I don't have $250 to spare. ;-;
Or the $40-$50 the game will probably be. D:

Gamefreak has abandoned backwards compatibility exactly once, to much fan backlash. They haven't done so ever since over their Generational/hardware shifts - I think they'll maintain tradeability over the foreseeable future.

Back to the main topic, I don't think that any of us were doubting that there will be a Pokémon title. It's practically an imperative for their handhelds now. Good news to have, regardless.

When games were on both the Xbox 1 and the 360, they couldn't cross link, unless the xbox 1 game was on the 360 in the BC emulator. And DS games didn't have multiplayer with the GBA, only password sharing for PMD RB.

It probably won't happen. And Grey will not be a 3ds game.

I hope its the R/S/E remakes :D or a new Pokemon Ranger/ Mystery Dungeon
