The Pokémon UNITE Challenge DAY events are online tournaments featuring casual custom battles that players across Asia can compete in. These will be held as open tournaments, so anyone with high-speed internet access and a device capable of running Pokémon UNITE can register.
Two online tournament dates have been confirmed, with the first taking place on Saturday, April 30th, from 12:30pm to 6:30pm (JST). The second will take place on Saturday, May 7th, from 12:30pm to 6:30pm (JST). More tourneys under this name will also take place in future. Sign-ups for both tournaments will start from Friday, April 15, with the first ending on Saturday, April 30, at 1 PM. The second sign-up period will end on Saturday, May 7, at 1 PM. If not registering as a traditional team of 5 players, groups of up to 1-3 people can sign up to play--however there is no guarantee that they will be placed on the same team. Because JCG uses a randomization system, there is a possibility of players on the same team not being able to speak a shared language. Using the official site set-up for the event, it is possible to look for a team or members for a team using the "Members Wanted" option.
Up to 512 teams will be competing in each tournament. If the amount of entrant teams exceeds 512, teams will be randomly picked to compete. Teams will be split into 8 groups of 64 teams playing Double Elimination matches. Teams who have lost once go into the Losers' Block, where they play other teams who have lost. Teams who lose in the Losers' Block will be eliminated from competition. The winner of the Losers' Block has a chance to win their whole block by playing the winner of the Winners' Block. Matches up to the quarterfinal round will take place in 1-match games. From the semifinals thereafter, matches will take place in 2-match games. In the Losers' Block, all matches will be 1-match games. For the Grand Finals, where the champions of the Losers' and Winners' brackets meet, there will be a 3-match game to win the block.
Players must be able to communicate in written/read English or Japanese, and be located in the following countries:
- Brunei
- Cambodia
- Indonesia
- Japan
- Laos
- Malaysia
- People's Republic of China
- Philippines
- South Korea
