...so it would be like the Unova league? That's pretty bad pacing if that turns out to be true.
There's been multiple cases of an arc being set up in an otherwise disconnected episode.
(Unless Grookey evolves in episode 69)
It won't. We saw it unevolved in the special preview at the Crown Tundra.

Yes, but majority of previous arcs in the anime have been set up throughout episodes or multiple episodes before. Sometimes they don't build to it and just start the arc immediately. The fact that there is a filler right after what is supposed to be the Project Mew arc is not a good sign if the episode right after is also about the Project Mew arc.

Actually, we don't even know what Episode 70 will be about. For all we know, it could be another filler.

Why do you think it's a bad sign?

The evidence points towards episode 70 being the start of the arc, as it's the only bit from the special preview we don't have a title(s) for yet.

Who knows?
The series has repeatedly proven its episodic nature; if the filler in the middle ends up being weird/boring, the emotion generated by the set-up will be wasted.

I lean towards the belief that we'll have a barrage of fillers before the Project Mew.

I suppose we won't really know until the episode actually airs, but the fact that this kind of episode airs right after an episode that should be longer than one episode isn't a good thing. Why? Because if we think about how much will probably happen in the episode before this one, there's no reason why this episode can't be taken out of continuity for a two-parter. This gets worse if Episode 70 is part of Project Mew, because if that was the case, then it should've been a direct continuation instead of sandwiching potential filler in between. The change is just far too jarring and doesn't make much sense.

The Numacraw silly and random thingy.
That wasn't even a relax/filler episode, it was a stupid plot full of nonsense.
A joke, an insult to the audience.

The worst episode in all anime, period.
The point is, it was a filler episode in between more important episodes and before the start of a major arc.

This is…a rather harsh take. I thought the episode was cute. It was also half of the Pikachu dub episode which was hilarious.
