god I know Pikachu might not be the best Pokémon to be involved when it comes to screentime distribution but this is just so cute

I would've preferred Pikachu leading his actual, you know, teammates, but I guess I'll see where this goes... (Journeys, don't fail me now...especially with a core character trait of Pikachu's...)
Pikachu probably won’t be a good leader to this team. See: Pikachu throwing a tantrum throughout the match instead of supporting his teammates.

...I'm fully prepared for another explosion of rage, but I am willing to be surprised. Like I can hold on hope for a three on three Bea Fighting-type battle right?

Unlikely, given that they're pairing Go with the socially awkward pokemon that is unsure about its ability to do anything

There is another thing that someone can use if they want to argue Ash and Failinks.

You see it? Or more accurately, what you don't see?

There are only two mons Bea has in game that are not in this image. One is Sir'Fetch. The other is Failinks.

It is by no means a rock solid argument like merchandise.....but why not?

Unless it's a legendary, I'd prefer if Ash doesn't add another Fighting-Type

I wouldn't say that it's a bad argument, though, since the anime does have a history of replacing certain species with something else if Ash's current team has something that a given Gym Leader uses in the games. The only prominent exception I can think of is Skyla, but even then her Unfezant was changed from being female in the games to male in the anime, obviously because Ash's one is female and since Unfezant is one of the very few Pokemon with distinct enough gender differences to tell them apart at a glance, gender-swaping Skyla's Unfezant was all that was really needed to avoid visual overlap between her and Ash's teams.

That said, I'd argue that another potential reason why Bea wasn't given a Falinks or Sirfetch'd is because they don't really fit her theme: Bea's a martial artist (...like literally every Fighting-type Gym leader except Korrina. On that sidenote, Fighting specialists need a bit more variety imo. I know Fighting's kind of a difficult type to work with due to how specific its elemental motif is, but for literally all but one Fighting specialist being martial artists is a bit ridiculous. How about having a Fighting-type specialist that's like a Stan Lee expy who creates superheroes based on his favorite Fighting-types or something? idk, just an idea), while Sirfetch'd and Falinks are based on a knight and a troop of roman warriors respectively, so it makes sense that Bea's Pokemon would be ones that are martial artists like herself.

Man, if only the main cast had a brave and gallant knight or a precocious fighter in need of some grounding to fill the role of leader for these Fallinks.

Oh well, plug mouse it is.
That's the deal right? Sirfetch'd and Lucario are so obviously the perfect choices here.

In fact, I think Sirfetch'd should've helped the brass (since he is also a Fighting type who struggled with self-worth after losing to Gallade and having his leak cut off and finding confidence in Ash and evolving) and Lucario should've handled the others (due to the comedy of the super serious Lucario having to keep the unruly little guys in check).

But nahhhhh, let's give one to Goh and shoehorn Pikachu into the plot again.

I think the reason Bea doesn't have those is because they're going to be given to main characters, but not necessarily Ash. I think Goh will get Falinks.

It makes no sense to restrict a Gym leader's roster due to what Go has caught since he’s allowed overlaps with Ash due to his goal, and the probability that any of his captures does more than an extended cameo after said episode is almost negligible.

They still could've wanted to save its debut to be in an episode where it's caught by a main character, regardless which one of the two it is.
