Really excited for this episode, whilst character development episodes are go, or Pokemon just having fun, I enjoy episodes with serious battles

They could've had Ash and Goh stay in Sinnoh after JN075 and have them still be in Sinnoh for this Episode, instead of having them travel to Sinnoh, back to Kanto, then to Alola, then back to Kanto again and then back to Sinnoh again... They could've put the Alola episode after that.

They needed an Alola episode right before the Volkner episode to give the viewers a refresher on Z-Moves and give Ash a reason to bring back his Z-Ring for the Volkner battle. If Ash just stayed in Sinnoh after the Darkrai/Cresselia arc without ever returning to Kanto or revisiting Alola, then it would be rather unexpected for him to suddenly pull out his Z-Ring for the Volkner battle. Also, it's revealed in this episode that Hyper Class battles are scheduled way ahead of time, so having Ash travel back to Kanto to prepare himself for the battle makes perfect sense.

I think that they also implied that there won't be any Z-Moves during the match.

That doesn't sound that bad, nothing relevant would be lost.
I am still against the use of that nuke, cheap trick.

Reminder that Ash is going to face at least four more Master Class opponents after Volkner, so he will either lose to one of them (not Bea again, please), or his ranking will only go up incrementally from here on out. The Master Class has at least a year left in it.

To be honest, the return of Z-moves is redundant, but the target audience knows more about SM than the older series. One Alola episode per year isn't a tall order.

Ahh Dodaitose... I think we all remember how you became useless to Satoshi as soon as you evolved from Naetle. The battle against Denji was the icing on the cake; only getting in one quick hit before being OHKOed by a Pokemon it should have had zero troubles against.

Funny how Satoshi is seemingly remembering him instead of Goukazaru (I appreciate our favourite fire monkey has had focus this saga, but still).
