Review JN119: Koharu and Eievui - The Miracle of Evolution

It's a clip show....

and it does exactly what clip shows do.

And that is to show clips from prior episodes with narration from one of the characters.

Yeah.

Clip shows.

A clip show amidst the M8, followed by an unrelated Chloe episode that screams boring, followed by yet another clip show is sure a choice.
Why is everyone assuming that JN121 is a clip show? Regardless, these Chloe episodes are definitely momentum killers. Building up viewership with the Masters Eight episodes, then pulling it away for two Chloe episodes, is stupidly daring.

So is this an actual episode - like a flashback episode with Chloe talking to Eevee and then remembering things or is it a straight up clip show?

Is there any new stuff whatsoever?

Genuine question, what was even the point of this episode? If anything, it only really serves to show just how little that they really did with Koharu in this series. Like, if they absolutely had to do a clip show, they could have at least framed it with the episode’s plot being that Koharu reaches a mental roadblock and thinks back on her meetings with the various Eeveelutions to help her clear it. That way, there’s an actual episode narrative to go along with the clip show. As is, this episode was entirely pointless and is barely above a weekly break as it added nothing. Also can’t help but find it funny that the writers refused to elevate her to a main character yet will waste time on a clip show of a narrative that they seemed barely invested in.

Clip shows are basically break weeks, otherwise nothing would be airing this week instead. I suppose they gave Koharu one because next week is her final focus episode.
