I meant that his clip show would cover all the missions he went on to become an official member of "Project Mew".

Edit: It's also possibly just because of Cynthia's huge fanbase; if Ash beats both of them it leaves the question of which of the two champions is better as an open question rather than giving an answer.

This would be an acceptable compromise for me (somehow...)
However, if we take seriously what the show said about Cynthia ("the greatest of the Masters Eight"), then they more or less have already given the answer if you as me.
