Has anybody heard of this? At the University of Florida, some student accused John Kerry of purposefully throwing the 2004 election so that Bush would become president. The fact that he was attacked by police officers with tasers after these questions were asked makes me . . . pretty suspicious of Kerry, actually.

If you read witness accounts of the event, the guy was being an asshat. It wasn't his turn to talk, so he grabbed the mic from someone else and started throwing accusations. Tasering is more than a little excessive, but I don't think most people are getting the whole story.

From what I have seen on youtube he wouldn't stop lunging at the cops and wouldn't listen to him. He just kept saying "Don't tase me bro!"

What does Kerry have to do with overzealous rent-a-cops getting their fascist on? They were campus police --not John Kerry police.

You can clearly hear Kerry saying it's okay --let the guy ask the question.

In any event --the fact that there isn't massive outrage at campus police tasering a man for asking a question is frankly beyond me.

Every cop there should be fired and stripped of their pension.

I'll grant that the guy was being obnoxious, but that's not a crime. He should have been *peacefully* escorted away, not arrested and tasered. That's just sick.

Which is exactly what they tried to do but he resisted every chance he got. :|

They crossed the line, yeah, but he sure was half-asking for it.

Just because he goads the police in to something doesn't mean they should do it.

From what I heard, the guy asked Kerry a tough question about his involvement in a society called the Skull and Bones or something like that. Kerry actually agreed to answer the question but the cops still dragged him away.

Something that would only happen at a D-speech.

Why is there so much sympathy here for this guy? This guy was interrupting an event to make it his own soap box and he constantly resisted any attempts to get him to stop. The police tried to end this peacefully, but this guy brought it to tasering.

Oh please, Tasering a guy for just being an "Ass-hat" is a stupid move. Case in point, all the press and the University favoring the kid. It would have been more easy if Kerry just made a fool of his accusations, this just gives him more negative press (Even if it doesn't have to do directly with him). It all just goes down to what every little kid learned on the school yard: in a game of wits and verbal conflict it is the one who first throws the punch that is seen as the looser.

"Don't taze me, bro!" is going to become an epic line.

But yeah, just like the UCLA thing, this really didn't require a taser...

Yeah, that's true. I'm no fan of Kerry, or really any politician right now that I know enough about, but still, undeserved bad press=not cool.

Though I gotta admit, some people need to be tazered for being asshats sometimes. :p I like what Dodgemaster Tim had to say about it on the Pokemopolis forums:

Yeah, the argument being posed by some is that "this" happened:

As opposed to:

so dont tase me bro means yes?

i should rape women

Using a tazer on the young ad was really too much. Someone should just have ejected him out of the room instead.
