Advancing to Brock, Aki said nothing, but his Froakie nodded and stood to the battlefield.

"Shy one, eh? Well, not that it matters. Go, Geodude!" the tan Gym Leader from across the room shouted. A dusky brown Pokémon cried out as it was released from its Poké Ball. "Geodude, use Rock Throw!" Crumbling boulders came hurling down at Kyokugami.

"Kyokugami. Climb the rocks." Aki mumbled, as the lithe Water-type swiftly climbed the rocks. By this time, the Froakie knew what he was going to do next. A powerful Water Pulse exploded from his mouth, directly coming down on the rock Pokémon's head. Next, the Geodude tried ramming into Kyokugami, but he easily dodged and ended the fight with a blinding Quick Attack.

"Geodude, return. You did your best. Go, Onix! Use Rock Polish!" The giant rock snake glinted with gem-like reflections, it's speed raising. "Bubble attack, Kyokugami." Aki responded, the jet of bubbles scattering about the Onix. Although the move was super effective, it didn't do as much damage as he'd hoped. "Onix, Tackle attack!" Brock had called to the gray Pokémon. Ramming into the smaller Froakie, it roared in triumph.

Kyokugami slowly got to his feet, growling and croaking angrily. Leaping forward, he began to toss its frubbles at the foe, before putting all its rage into a strong Water Pulse. In doing this, the water-type began to glow brightly..

Before the pokemon could attack, a yellow cloud of dust erupted from the cieling, engulfing all of the pokemon in the room. Dahlia held her breath and waited for the dust to clear.

When it cleared, she saw all she of the pokemo lying on the ground and twitching. Shinx, who was strangely unaffected, was tackling the zubats in order to prevent them from getting back up. "Huh" she looked up to see if she could find the source of the mist.

A small orange crab-like creature was crawling along the cieling. On its back were two mushrooms that were emiting a light mist. As soon as it noticed her looking at it, it started waving on of its little pincers. It lept off the ceiling and onto the floor, buzzing in what seemed like joy.

The creature pointed at Dahlia's bag.
"Oh, you want a reward?"
It nodded.
She took out a berry then handed it to the creature. It shook its head.
"Okay, maybe this will be better." She pulled took out some coins, thinking maybe it liked shiny things. Again, it shook its head.
She emptied the contents of her bag. "Well what do you want?" In response, it pointed at one of the empty pokeballs.
"You want to be on my team?"
It excitedly buzzed while nodding its head.

"Okay, certainly works well for me," she said, tossing the pokeball at the Paras.

Rob headed south of Pewter once more to get some training in for his two Pokemon. Jagger, although still stubborn, was listening much better than he had before. It started to gain much more experience as it began to follow his trainer's orders more frequently. Every once and a while he would still use a different move than he was told and pick fights for himself with random wild Pokemon, but Rob was very impressed with the Mankey's improvements.

After feeling more confident about Jagger, Rob would alternate between him and Jet during battles. He even got in a double battle with a bug catcher, which was an easy victory even with the obvious flaws the duo had made during the battle. Rob would have to work on polishing their battling skills for future battles with more powerful opponents. After a tough session of battling, Rob released both Jagger and Jet so that he could talk with them and let them finish off the rest of the Pokemon treats he had bought earlier. To him, bonding with his Pokemon was just as important as training when it came to being an effective trainer.

Calix had ran from the scene before the police had arrived. Parker was who-knows-where chasing Royalle, and Calix was definitely in shock. He had tread through Viridian Forest, the shadows and cool smell of the trees brought him some peace. The trainers there were utter pushovers. Winona mostly used Peck and took out a few Butterfrees. Calix's new Larvesta, who he had decided to call Delethia, hadn't been very happy with him. She took out the Beedrills of trainers, along with any wild Bug-type that moved, her Ember attack strengthened by rage. Calix hesitated when sending her out, she was difficult to return. But still, he had hurried through the forest. Was Selphy in trouble? What was the plot for the Islands? He was nearing the end of the forest, questions on his mind. Winona was perched on his head, and for the moment Delethia was allowing Calix to hold her. Reluctantly, he hurried on to Pewter. Hopefully Officer Jenny wouldn't follow him that far.

After catching the Paras, Dahlia turned and headed back to Pewter City to stock up on repels. Those annoying bats aren't going to mess with her anymore.

Rob went back to his house in Pewter to relax for a moment. He turned on his favorite classic rock station on the radio. They enjoyed listening to songs from bands including Blue Cloyster Cult and Def Liepard. Jagger seemed to be pumped up by the music, while Jet seemed to be content with standing still as he listened.

Parker continued climbing the tree, following Royalle who, in turn, was following something else. When Parker got to the top, relieved, he saw a familiar sight: a Hidden Grotto! He raced in, wondering what Pokemon would be found inside. He slowed down when he saw a person wearing all gray. Royalle was slowly approaching the human, seeming to want to surprise them. Then the person turned around, revealing itself to be a boy! He had a big red "R" on the front of his shirt, and he was holding a bag with a... Wingull and a Pichu. He must have been trying and fight the Pokemon inhabiting this grotto. The boy turned and saw Royalle immediately, and, seeing a rare Pokemon, fumbled in his bag to get out another net, dropping the nets with Wingull and Pichu. Parker raced over to the Pichu's bag while the other boy was distracted, and saw a group of Pikachu and Raichu in the shadows, with the biggest Raichu knocked out. He must have taken the Pichu and Wingull against their wills! Parker whispered to Royalle, "Burn Wingull out of its net with Ember! It's a Water-type, so it should do minimal damage. Pichu, though, would be more sensitive to a Fire-type attack." Royalle nodded back and started burning Wingull out. As Parker started to undo the knots on the Pichu's net, the other boy turned back around, just to see a kid and the Fennekin helping his captured Pokemon out! "Hey!" he shouted, before throwing a Poke Ball holding a Rhyhorn. "Rhyhorn! Use Horn Drill on that kid!"
"Hey!" Parker yelled. "You're not supposed to use Pokemon moves on humans!" The Rhyhorn charged. Parker ran out of the way, bringing the Pichu with him. Then he got an idea. He put out a length of rope from the net in front of the Rhyhorn. As it charged, its horn broke open a section large enough for Pichu to get out. By then, Wingull was already free and started using Water Gun on the Rhyhorn, which was super effective. Parker commanded to Royalle, "Alright, you use Ember, girl!" She spit a couple of flames from her mouth at the opposite side of the Rhyhorn, and soon, a brave Pikachu from the group behind, sick and tired of watching the others do all of the fighting, went and used Thunder Shock. Not like it affected Rhyhorn, mind you. Parker told them all, "Stop!" at the same time the gray boy commanded Rhyhorn, "Bulldoze!"
"No you don't!" Parker yelled.

Luke, (Who was battling the boy at the gym..) sent out his Sky for a battle. "Sky, take it easy on the rattata!" He laughed.
"You have no idea!" The boy said deviously. "Diglett, go! Show them whose boss!"
"Diglett? That's new. Whatever, use wing attack!" Critical hit! "Alright Diglett, use dig!" He said not knowing Sky was a flying type. "Uh, OK. You do that." Luke said sarcastically. "Sky, just wait a little.." Just then the diglett jumped out of its hole (Don't ask xD) and scratched Sky on the wing! "Sky, you ok?"
"Fletch!" But Sky wasnt OK. Her wing crumpled. "Sky, use peck!"
But then, Sky started to glow. It's almost as if her body was growing. It was. It took about five seconds for the glowing to stop. "Fletchinder!" Called the pokemon Luke had never expected. "Woah, Sky, you evolved! Anyway, use wing attack!" As the crimpled wing of the old Fletchling gone, and in with a new wing, The Fletchinder dashes toward the Diglett with it's wings, and BAM! It was over. "One down, the boss to go.."

A new Pokémon had taken Kyokugami's place. "Gadier!" it cried out, smirking as it lashed out with a Quick Attack. Once more, the rock type crumpled to the ground.

Kyokugami returned to Aki's side. Brock mumbled his congratulations, offerring a piece of colored steel. Slipping the badge into his case, Aki returned the thanks and made his way down to the entrance. "Good job, Kyokugami. You didn't even break a sweat."

After healing the water-type in the Pokémon Center, Aki headed towards Moon Cave. Hopefully, he'd add a new pokémon to his team.

The Gym Leader's eyes sparked in surprise when he saw Calix. The light-year trainer had fallen easily to him. "Hello, Challenger! It's odd... You remind of Lorelei. But whatever resemblance you may have of a great trainer, I'm still the Gym Leader of Pewter City's gym! Prepare to be walled by the defenses of my Rock-types!"

From there, it hadn't gone very well. Winona had sent Geodude to sleep, and hit it with consecutive Dragon Rushes, fainting it with relative ease. However, when Winona tried using Dragon Rush on Brock's Onix, the rock snake wrapped it self around Winona, absorbing the blow and trapping her. It wasn't long before Calix's friend fainted from the crushing Bind. Which brought him up to the present, with Delethia on the field. The Tackle was streamlined, hitting her full-on before Calix could shout a command. Brock was winning, and smiling about it too.

"Bind! Finish it up, Onix!" The tan Gym Leader ordered. But Delethia flew up, spouting fire from her horns to dodge out of the way on time, settling feet away from Onix. Calix ordered an Ember, but the flames did little to the massive titan that was Brock's Onix. "Rock Tomb! Bury them!" Brock decreed with a sense of finality. That's it... I've lost my first gym challenge... Calix thought. Wildly, he threw out a guess. The Rocket wouldn't have just any imported mon, it would be specialized. So he played his wild card, and hoped it worked.

"Delethia, your most powerful move, now!"

The rocks, inches from hitting the Bug type, crumbled into dust as green orbs flew out of them and into Delethia. She was latched onto Onix, and they both glowed green, energy flowing into the Fire-type at a blinding rate. Calix with a dumb smile, looked at the fainted Onix, and his victorious Unovan. Calix recalled the Larvesta, grinning from ear to ear.

"Ah. That's what Giga Drain looks like." Brock muttered solemnly. Quickly regaining his pride, Brock smiled. He handed Calix the Boulderbadge and TM39. "You Islanders... It's not hard to recognize you, you know. I could see you being like Lorelei one day, apart of the Elite Four. Which type would you specialize in?" Brock inquired.

"Um... Well... Flying and flying-like types? I don't know. I kind of want an Arbok, so..." Calix fumbled, not quite sure of his answer.

"The League is a long way off, you have time to think. But I do think you have potential to be something more than a Sevii Islander with a trophy from Kanto." Brock commented in a deep, philosophical tone. With that, Calix bid the Leader farewell, heading off to heal his tired friends.

Once inside Mt Moon, the Zubat had begun to attack in bunches of threes and fours. However, Kyokugami had Bubble, which could damage multiple opponents. Nothing else of interest had come along, until he saw a dome-like rock laying on the bed of dirt. Picking it up, Aki examined the fossil and tucked it away in his bag. Perhaps the lab at Cinnabar would check it out.

Dahlia went through Mt. Moon, with Paras (named Penny) and Nikolai following her. While Paras blanketed the area in spores, stunning the Zubat, Nikolai took them out by either shocking or pouncing on them.

Near the exit, she noticed a fossil, which she identified as one belonging to an Omanyte. Uninterested, she left it alone.

Calix had a difficult time in Mt. Moon. Paras were everywhere, so Delethia and Winona had been using Ember and Peck left and right. When they finally made it out, Calix noticed a... Helix Fossil? That's what Selphy called them. In anycase, it was protruding out of a wall, so he pulled it out and carried it with him. He could probably find some use for it later.
