Hello!

Some of the long time members may remember me as a former art mod, then forum admin and Bulbagarden Art Director. I'd been inactive on the forums for a long period of time... over 11 years, I believe? So I guess now that I'm making a bit of a return I should share my most recent art here. Nothing better than starting with a redraw of a 2003 piece I'd recently done during my Fanart Friday streams on the Bulbagarden Twitch channel! To the left is the new version and on the right the original. I hope you all like it!

A lot changes in twenty years, right? Sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse. In your case, definitely for the better, haha! I can see the improvement from the original clearly, especially with Mew themselves. Not that they were bad before, but especially their face and feet are noticeably better on your newer attempt, I think, showing off your improving skills in-between nicely! I also appreciate the little details on both versions like the depth of field effects (more subtle on the newer than the older) that really top off just how great everything looks. As to which one I actually prefer, it’s surprisingly hard to say! The more intense soft-focus effect on the foreground and water on the older one is quite appealing to me, but I think that the newer one has more… character, I think I’d put it, with the somewhat cartoony-but-not-overly-so line work especially working well here when you consider the kind of Pokémon that Mew is known to be, haha. The plants, mountains, and fluffy clouds also make for a very interesting backdrop, which I think helps edge it out as the winner in my mind!

As a side note, it’s always good to see an old-timer back here, haha. I hope that life has been kind to you and that you’ll be able to stick around for as long as you want to! We’d certainly enjoy your company, especially if you continue posting artwork as good as this here!

In love with the lighting on this one! It's warm and contrasting, and of course you did a great job on making the smolivs soooo cute! You also did a great job controlling the hues of the greenery in the foreground and background, none of it blends together in a way that would ruin the picture at all! It all is so clear and gorgeous!
