But seriously, who knows what will happen. A DS release or 3DS release both have their merits and downsides; there is no obvious route Game Freak will take. People need to realize this, and stop making assumptions based on their own opinions.
I don't disagree with that, but speculation is all we can do at this point and there is not much in the way of factual information yet, so of course our assumptions are influenced by our opinions. I can't speak for everyone, but to me these long periods of news droughts would be a lot more boring without this kind of speculation.

I would not be surprised if Gray turned out to be a 3DS-exclusive game, but I would be disappointed if the features failed to justify Game Freak's decision. I would still think that it would be best for this generation to last three years. Most fans would seem to disagree with that, but if fan consensus were the deciding factor, Black and White would be 3DS games and we'd actually still be in Generation IV due to the extended wait.

I don't mind with the gen lasting only 3 years, hell if it does go to DS 3 years is all I would be acceptable with. As for the 3DS, they could do stuff if they want, bring back the Pokewalker intergrated with the 3DS coins, use communities, emphasize so much more with the different screen ratios the difference between the two screens(being one is for interface and the other for the action), and so on so forth.) It would only be disappointing if we set our expectations too high, which hell we're doing with the DS alone.

I think that Grey being a DS game with possibly 3DS exclusive features is the best way to go. It acts sort of like a bridge that way from the DS to 3DS, and best of all it gives us the choice if we actually want to upgrade now or not, and either way we still won't be missing out on the game itself.

Its a win-win situation.

Though, as Zistal said you never know with GameFreak, but at least with the above notion they can avoid having 2 gens on the same platform again and finish off gen 5 on a system where its pushed to its limits.
