Larvitar to be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO's Community Day Classic on January 21st

Niantic has announced that the next Pokémon GO Community Day Classic event will feature the Rock Skin Pokémon, Larvitar. During this event, Larvitar will be appearing more frequently in the wild, and its Shiny variant also available to be encountered. The event will be held on January 21st, between 2:00pm and 5:00pm local time.

Pupitar that are evolved into Tyranitar between 2:00pm and 7:00pm local time on that day will learn the Charged Attack Smack Down. This move has 12 power in Trainer Battles, and 16 power in Gyms and in Raids.

The following event bonuses will also be active throughout 3-hour period:

• 3× XP for catching Pokémon
• Incense (except Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours
• Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
• Trainers can receive a special surprise by taking a few in-game snapshots during the event period

A Community Day Special Research story: Larvitar Community Day Classic will be available for purchase at US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). This Special Research can also be gifted to any friend with a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher.
