It really doesn't matter most of the time to JNP today as long as the romanization is similar.
It's fun. JesusNo. There are different ways to render words in furigana or katakana, but if you use the incorrect kana, it changes what word it's meant to be. What you said is read as "vwictory", not "victory". It is incorrect. While it doesn't really matter in the cases of things like using "ka" or "kya" for "ca" sounds, it does matter when you are adding an entirely different vowel sound to the beginning of it.
