Supposedly we'll be spending some of the first 2 hours of the game at Mesagoza before venturing out. My guess its our pokemon will be quite leveled by then, maybe going through a big number of battles in the academy
Technically it's a mix of mesagosa and the area just before mesagosa. (Also important to note Ka who i think is the one that said this, has said they play games slowly).
Also on the website we see the player's fuecoco being level 15 against the level 27 Torkoal, and I still haven't figured out if thats just the employee taking the screenshot being underleveled because they weren't thinking about that at all, or if thats accurate to what level you would be (Meaning you are probably gonna have to do a decent amount of grinding first).

Imo the first gyms levels are higher because, now that you can take different routes, multiple gyms will have basically the same levels. For example Grass and Bug will be both lv. 25 and Electric and Water will be both lv. 35.

Minor thing but according to Kaka you can trade a Pawmi for either a Galarian Meowth or Perrserker idk which. So uh... good news for any Perrserker fans I guess.

Centro Leaks said that Journeys may be continuing until February then we'll have the Gen 9 anime. If true that would explain why we seem to be getting Journeys-related merchandise for 2023.
Except said merchandise includes the Paldea starters. It's clear that the series isn't ending any time soon and will simply transition to Paldea (with or without the older regions). I am not sure why this baffles people when the Japanese title is Pocket Monsters, just like the original series that spanned three regions.

Centro said that this time regional variants (I'm guessing outside of Paldean forms, I'm assuming) aren't needed to complete the pokedex. So instead of having like Persian and Cofagrigus randomly listed separately when their pre-evolutions were listed in the same entry, Perrserker won't matter.

the only bad part is that, that might mean pokemon like those never get another pokedex entry on top of their SWSH ones unless gamefreak change their minds.

My guess is they'll be treated like alternate forms and be listed under the same entry. I mean considering the only way to get a Kantoian Meowth and Unovian Yamask was through in-game trades and home, Persian and Cofagrigus being needed for 100% the Galar dex was kind of pointless. Maybe it's just streamlining.

What nonsense, they are entirely different Pokémon. Perrserker would never be treated as an alternate form of Persian.

That would just be very stupid; they’re different Pokémon entirely, so being treated as an alternate form would run contrary to that fact.

That seems like such a random trade, but maybe it makes sense in-game?

Make sense? Like trading a bagon for a horsea?
lol but at least with Horsea and Bagon there was some sort of Dragon connection later down the line :wynaut:

Not that I think there is much thematic thought put into 70% of in-game trades but I'd like to think maybe there is in this case.

So likely news drop next week maybe? Next week is the first full week of October. I think I just wanna see the picnic feature and Paradox Pokemon at this point. Maybe other random features.

Oh shit, it's already almost october and I haven't pre-ordered because we don't know many version exclusives yet

Hot take ( maybe not so hot): two versions are outdated at this point. Since B2W2, we don't get enough differences between the games. I think Legends: Arceus proved that single releases are possible and new games should come out like that.

Counterpoint: Most of the worst selling mainline pokemon games are third versions, remakes and PLA. Which is partly because of third versions being the same game again sure, but it also partly shows why Gamefreak are still incentivised to do Two Versions, it boosts sales a lot.
That and I feel two version games do still give cool ideas, the whole future vs past thing would be less likely to happen and potentially might not even work as well if it did if SV was a single game instead of two. Theres also split evolution version exclusives like Ceruledge/Armorogue and Appletun/Flapple that wouldn't happen with single versions. So I do think theres some merit to it, but this comes from a person who doesn't care for getting all pokemon or owning both versions so...

Edit: Might as well add that worst selling is still really high sales when it comes to pokemon.

You can't compare the sales of those with the first main-line RPG's of a generation. They wouldn't suddenly sell less because it's just one version.

Third versions reiterate almost all of the stuff from the first/second versions, and are thus less popular/necessary for fans to invest in. Legends Arceus is a different kind of game, altogether. It had a lot less marketing, too.

Remakes depend on a few factors, because I'm pretty sure HGSS sold quite well.

Honestly, I didn't expect us to have anything the week after the Nintendo Direct, so back then I was hoping we'd have something this week instead, not necessarily a full-length trailer as we got quite a bit already for September, but maybe another poké teaser like Grafaiai's. But yeah, honestly, this Ed Sheeran thing threw cold water on my expectations.

On the bright side, at least now we're pretty close to the game's full datamine. I just want to see more of the new Pokemon I'm intested in so I can plan my teams.
In just a few weeks, people with hacked Switch will unfortunately likely be playing the game first-hand too.

That's the annoying part of datamines, it gets a bit hard to only see the stuff you want to when theres people just straight up people spoiling the entire game because they are playing it on a hacked switch.
