I thought it was going to be about the oranges and grapes and I thought "Oh so the boxes will have the fruit on them neat" but then I scrolled down and saw the image of the clock and now I am lost.

Anyways guess we wait for June now for more Khu... funny how this months theme was meant to be Regional Forms but most of it was more of last months theme.

The clock could be one of several things. It could represent old and new or tradition and progress. Since the clock was going in reverse in the trailer it could literally represent past and future. The themes of the boxes are the abstract ideas they represent (life and death for XY). They might still have fruit elements in the design, but those fruits are on crests on our clothes so they probably have something to do with an organization of some sort in the games.

I'm really enjoying all this discussion about the riddles. Thankfully we've got some Sherlock Holmes like Oriden here to solve these puzzles.
Oriden absolutely helps us all with this, we'd be lost without her lol

As for the box legendaries...I always get the second game, so it'll be Purple.

but...so, flowers+clocks.

The clock is at like 12:42 by the way~

I miss when my girlfriend was able to play nintendo games. ): We'd get opposite versions and trade exclusives and stuff but that's impossible now since nintendo likes gimmicky consoles and controllers and she has a hard enough time using a playstation controller. She's still miles better than me at videogames though. Using only two fingers. Girl's a freaking gaming savant, I swear. That or I am even worse at videogames than I like to joke about. ...it's probably both.

Oh well. I'll buy Violet and maybe down the line I'll get scarlet. Gods I hate knowing that Khu and I share version tastes. Though clearly his head's not screwed on right since he's apparently not impressed with the starters and looking at their base forms I cannot fathom how they can not be at the very least likable in their final stages. One of them is a cat for the gods' sake. If gamefreak manages to screw up a cat after all the cats we've already had I think we need to send someone to check if they're okay. You can't screw up a cat mon, man. That's just not possible.

Also: OOH I GET IT THE THEME IS TIME I BET ITS TIME WHY ELSE WOULD IT BE THE CLOCK places hands on the underside of the table, ready to flip it when it turns out the riddle is something else entirely somehow

Problem: We already had Time... Twice technically if you wanna count PLA. Although i suppose this is a different kind of time.

Everybody get what you want off this table because I'm getting into flip stance.

It could be actually blatant history vs progress theme this time. Legends: Arceus was just getting thrown back in time, it wasn't really about time travel itself. That was just a plot vehicle for the story. And the only other time I can think of time being relevant in the main games is the fact one town in Unova was different between versions and that city tower thing vs giant ass tree and forest thing. Again, not actually tying into the game's narrative. Just a random ass thing in two areas.

And then there's Dialga, the critter of time that doesn't do ANY time shenanary and the only ones that do are his daddy and that darn onion fairy.

Oh you can buy adapters for Switches for better controllers and stuff. Like, you could even connect a Wiimote to those things if you need to!! But I'm glad to hear she's still doing well at games!!

Onion fairy...!?

You might be right I think! The clock looks "modern" but clocks like that are kinda old too so maybe that?

There's definitely some sort of old vs modern theme going on even if that's not what Khu's tweet is talking about. I've said it before but there's a stark contrast of the more Traditional looking houses and main city and such of the region compared to the modern gas-station looking pokemarts and those solar panels and observatory you can see in the trailer.

I think more importantly is that the clock was divided into 3 parts perfectly (wasn't it?). Not that it tells me anything valuable, though.
Three legendaries, maybe? Three "parts" to the games?

sigh I wish he'd just stick to the puppy thing and juvenile insults instead of getting outright vulgar.

So from the various posts we can conclude that Khu: Likes both box legendaries, thinks SV has a lot of cool designs, but finds the starters Meh (From his post right after the poll that was never shown here)

Anyways as for that above, I am guessing the violet Legendary specifically has a Motif about being rideable while the Scarlet legendary just... is rideable without being designed around it.
That seems like a solid guess. The fact that they "function the same" definitely feels like there's some utility to both legendaries, so if that utility is riding them then this focus on Grape being rideable does feel like it's just more blatantly its thing.

You guys are too nice. =D I really mostly just compile what other people have pointed out.

Gawd right? I'm so hesitant to post images on mobile because they usually wind up enormous when I get on my PC and it's so cringe.

But yeah, that looks like the tradition vs. progress time theme that we've already picked out from it.

Besides the clock, the contrast of the locations they showed the guard in was really distinctly modern vs. traditional architecture. Like, after he goes through the building and then enters that room, it's jarring, because of how obviously out-of-place it is.

And then you add in the clock spinning forward and back and it seems sort of obvious.

Y'know PLA, a game about being sent to the past, feels like the perfect game to follow up with the Tradition vs Modern theme, wonder if it was intentional or not.

Yeah, the ‘themes’ in pat games were less themes in terms of guiding principles for the games and more ‘motifs’ so I don’t think we’ve really had a game about time yet

This collage riddle doesn't give us much of anything, but the clock is useful...for once. Time being involved or tradition vs progress would be interesting.
