He is in fact the UB Bone Crusher, a Metagrosslike creature from another dimension which is not only highly intelligent and discerning, but also crushes bones in its metallic maw. All of this is part of a highly advanced scheme beyond human understanding to get the bones he requires. Though for what purpose a being as intelligent as UB Bone Crusher needs to crush bones for is unknown at this time.
