Welcome to the tenth installment in the Lost Tower Forum's new weekly series of polls!

Centered around the older installments of the Pokemon series of video games, these polls will be based on the various different aspects of the popular video game franchise. Every Monday, a Video Games staff member will post a new poll that'll remained stickied up on top of the forum. Suggestions for polls and questions can be sent to Joshawott, and they could possibly used for new polls (credit will be given, of course).

With that out of the way, here is the poll: Slot machines or Voltorb Flip? Due to a variety of reasons, the EU version of Platinum didn't have the slot machines, then the international versions of HGSS didn't have the slot machines, having the "Voltorb Flip" game instead - which did people prefer?

Considering slots are boring as hell, whereas Voltorb Flip actually makes you think a bit about it, it's clearly Voltorb Flip that's the best.

The only shame is that they removed the option to buy coins. However, the game is still better than the crappy slots. Good riddance if you ask me.

Could of course be because I despise things that's based on chance and fortune, whereas I prefer games that you can find a tactic and calculate your way to victory. Everything doesn't need to be controlled, but I must at least get the feeling that I'm in control over something. However, I can't really see how anyone would prefer random chance to something that you must actually consider and think to win. I feel much better when I know it's more skill, and not chance that makes me win.

I wasted so much time on Voltorb Flip. <3

Slot machines were boring. I usually just bought coins rather than waste my time button-mashing, hoping for more than 5 coins at a time. VF was at least no-risk/potentially high return, even if you couldn't buy coins. I got pretty good at it, so I could get hundreds of coins in a relatively short time.

Slot Machines were impractical. Voltorb Flip is fun and you can't lose coins. Earning coins is also not dependant on luck.

I don't like either of them much, but if I had to pick, Slot Machines.

Both of them are too luck-based for me to enjoy, though Voltorb Flip annoys me more, because it seemed like it should've been fun, since it presents itself as a Minesweeper clone, but it's far too easy to lose your chain and any large amount of coins. There's probably a pattern to winning it, but I just can't be bothered to learn it. Having no option to simply buy coins, as you can in the other games, only makes me resent it more.

At least these games let me know I won't be developing a gambling problem.

Voltorb flip. If you found the pattern(which I did) you could come out with alot of coins in no time.

Slot machines because you have the ability to buy coins and not play those machines; it's an easy way to buy your TMs.

I personally like Slot Machines because of the Clefairy features in Gen IV. If you're lucky, you can earn loads with Clefairy.

I choose the Slot Machines because I suck at Voltorb Flip (having only played it once).

both were time wasters, put the slot machine was a lot more luck oriented and nonsensical, which therefore made me enjoy them

I was never a fan of the slots. Too luck-based, too little payoff on the rare instances that you actually succeeded, coins were kinda pricy. Voltorb Flip, on the other hand, was a fairly easy, much more skill-based game. I've amassed more coins in Voltorb Flip than I have in every normal game corner combined. It's really not even close. When the Slots stop being a total ripoff, then maybe I'll reconsider.

The slot machines because they were somewhat more fun and the voltorb flip was a flop.

Slot Machine. The Voltorb Flip was garbage. Honestly, you should always be able to buy coins with your own money anyways.

Voltorb flip for sure! I would have sessions where I would turn on the game, play voltorb flip for a while, and turn off the game. I was an addict.

Voltorb flip all the way.

At least it's practical to win a lot of coins in VF when compared to the slots. I learned VF quite fast, and can easily amass a lot of coins. It's always fun to sweep Whitney with a lv. 19 Swords Dancing Heracross, which wouldn't be possible by buying alone.

EDIT: Although I do agree with Blue1225 that buying coins should still be possible in HG/SS
